I am a log time user of claw slings since they hold up well and don't slip "much". But a 2' chunk of 550 cord tied to the forend swivel run over the back of your shoulders with a quick release knot on your opposite backpack shoulder strap does wonders for keeping it from slipping off. More often than not I just put the sling on my packs shoulder strap then inside my sternum strap when I'm buckling it. But your right tho, scree fields are when they always want to slip off the shoulder to bounce the scope off a rock unless you just clip them to your pack 🫢🤬. Lol

I’m surprised to see you with that 45-70. It looks so cool, but I’m wondering if you have it just for fun or is it a useful rifle for you?

Mostly for fun. I carried it when in Grizzled areas for several spring seasons. There are honestly lighter options for a bear gun… but as you say, it’s a cool gun

Who made your hat? Good presentation of info for people who haven't figured nuances of hunting on foot with a rifle

That hat was giving to me years ago by a client as a tip. It’s a kemo sabe hat

More good info and great ways to keep barrels from getting plugged with snow or mud.

put some decent tape over your barrel to keep stuff out... you can leave it on when shooting and it shouldn't affect the impact point...

If you put pack on sling rifle and snap your strap that holds your shoulder straps together your rifle won’t move

What brand is that quick adjusting rifle sling? Longtime hunter here learning a ton from your videos. Keep 'em coming!

    • @CliffGray

I believe the one in this video is a STI 2-point sling. They won't work on all rifles, but are handy when they do.

Get a blue force gear Vickers quick adjust sling they have padded and non padded. They are slick as butter compared to the sling in the video, that sling looks like a Magpul sling and acts like one.

What are you hunting in north America you need a long rifle for?
A short rifle, or better yet a long revolvers gets 3 inch groups at 150 yards with a red dot.
You can sneak up to at least 100 yard of pretty much all animals...blw hunters do it all the time close to 50 yards lmao.
Shoot something between 100-150 yards and practice having a sub 2 moa group at 100 yard.
If you cant close the distance to be at least 100 yards away from target , you got bigger fish to fry.

bwhahaha, "short and to the point" is a relative term. In my world, 17 minutes is short for the subject.
