I've hunted elk for 25 years here in Colorado. Most rifle sling shoulder/hip clips are terrible. Hands down, the easiest-to-use and best all around ever made was the Crooked Horn Gun Commander. I've used one for a decade. Unfortuntaely, they went out of business. This is definitely the best on the market today. I've watched all the videos, read all the reviews and finally made the purchase this week. I moved my old Gun Commander to my son's pack and I'm using this. Set-up and ADJUSTMENT was brutal. Comes with NO instructions but I'm obviously here for that so it's all good. There are so many attachment t points and give and take when you adjust something up to you have to counter it down below. It took us two hours to get it adjusted perfectly so that was not fun. The adjustment process really takes a long time but our persistence paid off and we finally got it adjusted properly. It's really difficult since there's so many packs on the market. I put mine on my Mystery Ranch Beartooth 80. Good to go now. Elk muzzleloader starts this weekend. You can quickly unclip the top and bottom to get your rifle/muzzleloader down for a shot ...that's Good! The complaint is that you pretty much have to take your pack off and lay it on its side to put the bottom strap back on (re-attaching your rifle) unless you're double jointed and have arms the length of an NBA player. Once you get used it it, it works well and keeps your rifle secure!!
Got mine today and put it on my pack. It feels great. Sooo much better than the awkward kifaru one. I tried to make the kifaru one work and just never liked it. This makes it feel like it’s part of the pack. Great work, FHF. Good stuff.
Wish I’d had this a couple years ago when I was heading back from a caribou hunt via snow machine. Rifle was all over the place! Excited to use it in a couple weeks to look for caribou again, then moose in September.
They do. We added one to a small hydration pack and it worked. Obviously it he frame helps with support and taking the weight, but depending on the pack design, it should connect.
Hey, I just got mine in and am trying it out. Both my upper and lower attachment straps are the same,. They are both the same as the lower one you are showing Was that a packing mistake or is that how they are sent now?
