After years of driving highly modified supras and wrxs, the perfect all round car I finally settled for was the 3.0 boxer 6 Ouback 180KW (240hp) wagon. Been loving it 5 years now.
Great vid. Really captures the essence of the vehicle. Like a wild animal in its habitat. Also does nice to stroke the ego of subi owners. Except for that last bit. Can you run it backwards so it looks like the subaru is pulling instead? Thanks ;)
Octavia certainly not reject as Haldex 4x4. The new Outback, I not had the honor but I know that it's a completely different league. Today Subaru already have developed electronic systems for off-road driving (VTD, X-mod) that substitute closure diff but such a car I do not have money:-D

Came here from /r/subaru, since our cars look similar im just pretending its me in my forester. Do you know if the move at 3:00 has a specific name besides reverse to 1st?
Haha I do the same sht with mine. Still it is not a proper offroad but just a superb vehicle: the central differential can only make the front plus rear axel receive torque by locking on he automatic like mine (my2005 2.5). The problem are the front and rear differential, that do not lock at all (automatic version, might assume also on the manual). Being open differentials, if the wheel on the same axel slips, then the car will not move. I have seen roller tests but can tell you that in real life the same car, on high snow, had diagonal wheels spinning and the other two not receiving any torque at all hence not even trying to move. (Car was stuck)
+GG Later models will actually apply brakes to the spinning tire to stop this problem you're talking about. However I find with my Outback, being 3900 Lbs there is usully traction to be found somewhere
+MrToaster2112 are these the VDC models? Mine doesn't have VDC / ESP. I remember trying keeping the brakes pressed but the car was stuck flat on high snow with front right and rear left wheels spinning see 3:30 in the video similar situation. A good reason to have one of those inflateable hijacklift devices (useful on sand and snow etc). Looking into other cars but no other car aside of technical offroads like G.klasse or LR4 Discovery and alike give better performance with permanent AWD - and no other car has the same equipment, ground clearance, petrol economy (plus 2.5 accepts LPG fine, mina has 320000 km on it with LPG 70% of the time) and top speed etc. Superb car. I did notice a lot of rust under a 2005 3.0 model (sea and mountain environment, but still why not use proper anticorrosion on axels and all the lower parts, even as a paid plus (should be standard but everything has a cost). Outback is lovely car but Forester is more useful, more agile and compared to OTB 2.5 121 kilowatts / Forester 2.0 116 kilowatts (XT 130kw/169kw) is faster (parents have Forester 2.0 116 kilowatts) ... Although it does not seem so in the Forester is more space and a better view. Outback buys the heart, forester is bought sensibly
Have you an VDC on it? I'm currently looking for Subaru Outback III generation with 2.5i engine. I can't decide between automatic and manual transmission.
+Martin Johan I believe it gets VDC after 2008 (2010 is the new model over here in Europe) - automatic rocks in comfort and can be set as loose central diff if without VDC through a fuse added on purpose, but the manual has the reduction gear that is handy on occasion I guess - having an automatic. Automatic makes me relax though, see how you go - and see if you wish to have one hand free and forget about gears. Would be delicate on the automatic since I hear many need to change it soon (maybe playing to hard on it). Mine at 320 is beginning to give kicks for the first 10 minutes unless I change with hardly any gas - then runs fine for the rest of the trip (and I travel 400+km often)
Zapadl jsem sním jen jednou a to je na videu (myslím opravdu zapadl, jinak hrabaček bylo hafo). Jinak se snad ani zapadnou nedá, dokud nelehne pupkem na zem tak jede. V subaru jezdím od 13ti a nemohu říct špatné slovo. Do XT mám plyn taky v plánu, jen na něj pošetřím.

Tak tohle je fakt paráda, takový offroadovy Ken Block v rodinném kombi :-) Do legacy (i outbacku) jsem se zamiloval asi před 2 týdny, navíc za ty $$ co se dá dnes sehnat to musí být parádní svezení! Auto které tě nenechá ve stychu, stačí zima a pár zaveji a s OCT jsi v PR* Nemůžu najít popisek, ale jakou máš motorizaci? Jinak opravdu krásné video!
Martin Kudela Už je pryč, byla to 2,5 121kw 2006 facelift. Je to krásný auto, nový model 2015 si jednou musím koupit to je fakt raketa ale teď jezdím ve Forester XT 2003 130Kw, je to mnohem účelnější jak v terenu tak na silnici akorát na cestování je Outback prostě jednička...
Chtěl bych pochválit video krása , a jelikož se mi na tuto zimu nevíme jaka bude ale doufám že bude dost sněhu dostala do rukou Subaru Forester 2.0 z roku 2OOO mam dotaz jestli při tech driftech používate ruční brzdu a jestli se da použít když je auto v zaběru ? Děkuji za odpověď
+davidrulak100 Všechny moje videa jsou takřka bez ručky, stačí si pohrát s váhou vozu a používat spojku, přes spojku se dá krásně utrhnout i přes nedostatek výkonu. Momentálně mám taky Forouše, 2003 XT , to už je v automatu a na některých videích jde vidět že bokem to j de i bez ručky i bez spojky, postačí cvik a brzda s plynem :-)

Get the Forester XT, the engine is much better.
