Badenoch is one of the most overhyped political figures in our current parliament. I saw her statement on the King's speech, just a nasty, patronising, classist diatribe against Angela Rayner that was poorly delivered and ill thought out. She actually said 'Labour will find they have a tough act to follow', completely tone deaf. I seriously hope she becomes leader the shine will wear off fast.

I think Labour will be laughing out loud right now if the Tories believe that Badenoch is the "star talent" to lead them going forward. She is the one who has had her behind handed to her numerous times during trade negotiations. She has only become what she has because of Micheal Gove.

Here’s a test for Badenoch: Justify the 10B pound budget for Rwanda recently revealed by Yvette Cooper. Rwanda was (is still?) the cornerstone of Tory thought and a way to connect to ‘true conservatives tempted by Reform’. Labor is praying that KB is promoted up to Tory Leader.

Not sure that anyone currently left in the party has enough integrity or heart to put in the hard graft as an interim leader to do all that rebuilding only to give it up for an "election" candidate. Fully agree that the current membership will always vote for the most batsh*t candidate so not sure how they're going to fix that.
The Tory party membership must be the core problem as it doesn't represent the wider population but defines the Tory direction.

Rishi Sunak is about the best left to run the party and he should not stand down. If Jeremy Hunt had been elected he would possibly still be prime minister. Johnson was the right one for Brexit and the covid crisis alone. If everyone followed his instructions there may have been no pandemic. It was the lawlessness of the cities et cetera that brought it on themselves!
