Looks like in this timeline Canad...i mean Vinland up north is gonna be the biggest problem, maybe a new Hadrian wall will be needed in the future to keep those savages in the northern wastes just like the pesky picts of old
If you take the Ottoman prince you get janisaries. If you take the venetians you get merchant republics mechanics like trade outpost and a merchant estate far quicker. Every thing you bring has all kinds of butterfly effects down the line throughout your campaign. It’s a really in depth mod, easily my favorite.
That's why everyone loves Mr. Hawk. Instead of reading a-priori on the mod and making the optimal min-max choices, he makes the absolute madlad call to get Greek fire because it sounds cool. Gotta respect the man!
@Oujouj426 Yes. Realistically you get only 3 things in the journey with relatively minor suffering. And the others are too valuable to pass. Scrolls help balance out the problem with high mana costs and renaissance spread. Silk can be used to kickstart the economy, fund the war with the Turks and lategame can be the most valuable trade good in the game. The venetians give a faster, and better merchant estate, as well as a very nice monument (Elysian Arsenal) and arguably better naval stuff. In comparison, greek fire gives some nice naval stuff, which depletes until you get a province with Naphtha, some fort stuff, and a shady at best army doctrine with siege stuff, but heavy drawbacks.
5:07 he’s not just an advisor, you also get janissaries for choosing Orhan. Skanderbeg doesn’t last too long and the natives aren’t that hard to beat without him.
Plus if you pick Orhan you don't have to worry about Turks mucking up your culture map with colonies like the Albanians do. Also when you get back to the Old World you get a special option to have the Turks that went with you rule the Turks in Anatolia for you. Which gives you some nice bonuses like lowered unrest.
If you we're to stay Orthodox you would have unlocked a unique type of Christianity callled Elysian Orthodox which you get an event for it, if I remember correctly a few months after the end of Religious Wars disaster
This truly is the best of the total conversion mods for EU4. The level of depth, tying choices made in the beginning to the longer campaign is amazing. There are a number of paths that are so different that you have a lot of replay options. The Spartan movement in Mexico and the Vikings in the north give really fun alternatives. All around, it’s amazing.
How poetic that the lands where the last of the Romans would flee to, would be the lands they thought of as worse than Britain Or as the great and wise would say: “You could not live with your own failure, where did that bring you? Back to me”
@@idontlikerome2744 Yeah, but it was mainly due to Theodoro's achievement to control all provinces in the German culture group. As Byzantium you're probably better off just fighting the Ottos.
I thought this was some kind of A-Z challenge where you were tasked with fleeing to the new world "like in the third Odyssey mod" and not a straight up showcase of the mod
4:30 Aight so, what you pick here affects what you get in the New World. If you pick the Venetians, you get earlier access to the Elysian Arsenal a more powerful version of the Venetian Arsenal in addition to Merchant mechanics. If you pick Silk, you get a special version of silk as a trade good for your capital when you do a mission that can be upgraded as the game goes on and becomes more valuable than normal silk. If you pick the books, you get easier access to the New Library of Alexandria which is a very powerful monument that gives you a bunch of tech, idea, and institution bonuses. Taking Greek Fire....gives you a side quest where you have to find new sources of oil in the new world or you lose the buffs. There's a clear which one you should NOT pick lol. Also, the less supplies you have when you arrive at the New World, you will get debuffs to the buff you get that helps you colonize. You don't EVER want to take all 4 unless you have the Sub-Mod that lets you do it with no penalty. The ones I recommend are Silk and Books, with the Venetians as a third choice if you are willing to take on a debuff for having lower supplies. You don't ever want to take Greek Fire because the buff while substantial is periodically unusable and its navy. 8:37 You actually don't want to rival the Powhatan because you can get their land via decision if you have good enough relations with them.. 12:29 You get bonuses if you manage to make it through the disaster with both side still happy. Some more tips for this mod: 1 Lie to the Portugese. Unironically, you want the other colonizers to show up as late as possible to the New World and it will make them weaker when you try to retake the Old World should you choose that path. 2: Take Orhan Celebi. You get some Janissaries AND you don't have to release him as a rump state vassal like you do with Skanderbeg. Having a better general early on does practically nothing in this mod as you REALLY want to be friendly with the natives to start off. Similarly, reject the Vinlanders who want to re-form the Varangian Guard. They'll eventually demand you release them too. 3: Do whatever it takes to maintain Tribal Dev. Unless you want 90% of your provinces to be 2 dev provinces, you don't want to piss off the natives. If they leave rather than assimilate, you lose the majority of dev in any province that has tribal dev, aka everything outside of the first 5 provinces you colonize. There's some estate privileges you can give to the Barbaroi that will help with this, but it will eat away at your crownlands. If you take both that one and the one the Nobles get, you will find yourself low on Crownland pretty often. 4: Delay Spartakon as long as possible. As the name suggests, the Spartan/Aztec larpers have insanely military focused ideas and their religion also buffs their military as well. You on the other hand, have no military ideas or at least, comparable military ideas. And even if you are nice to them, they WILL eventually attack you. So the best thing to do is to race to the Caribbean and declare on them while they are still relatively weak to wipe them out. 5: You want to try and colonize the entire East Coast by the time that the Europeans show up. Once you can get colonial nations running in South America, you become VERY overpowered and can easily fight them off, but if they end up with your core territory in North America, it can be pretty tough to get rid of them. 6: Going Hellenic or remaining Orthodox is up to you but going Hellenic gives you some pretty nice God buffs to choose from. Orthodox eventually becomes Elysian Orthodox later in the game. 7: Don't play in IronMan. This mod has some stability issues later in the game, and it WILL crash, so being able to complete the missions that mess things up via the console is a big help.
1. Think it's better to be true with Portuguese. You can then have treaty with them which you can't colonize South America, but they cannot colonize north and Carribean, and instantly get Colonization.
3. I always pick the option which gain you full province as soon as possible in order to overtake other Europeans. I'm not interested in high dev when 90% of provinces are furs or tobacco. 6. Hellenic is better for Quick expansion, but reamaining orhodox allows you to PU some European nations and more easily return to Europe. Also remaining orthodox allows you to peacefully vassalize Spartakon, cause also they remain orthodox. If you pick hellenic then they always will rival you.
@@haraldharaldson1563 I know its such a great mod. Gets even better if you use some of the Sub-mods too. I actually didn't know that Spartakon stays Orthodox if you do. I always thought they ended up that weird Nahuatl/Hellenic hybrid. Might need to fire up the mod for another playthrough.

5:50 If you tell the Portuguese where you're going, you get a event later to negotiate a treaty that prevent Portugal from colonizing all of North America. All already established colonies they may have would become uncolonized again
Making a whole series for this mod would be very fun to watch. There are so many possible outcomes and choices A suggestion would be to try the Elysian Orthodox path. When there is the religious event, instead of becoming Hellenic you can choose to form a new branch of Orthodox faith, and if I remember from the last time I played, there is also a ton of content for them too

It is dope that in roman mythology their ancestors fled from Troy to Italy, then reconquered their Anatolian homeland and became greco-roman, got expelled by turks to America. Let the cycle continue lol
I think the Albanians colonize the Caribbean if you send them off. You chose to keep them close. i feel you should have allied with one of the Norse nations. You chose not to. You've left the coastal provinces for the European colonisers to colonise. I think they will offer you the chance to become Catholic. Looking forward to Part 2.
