Chris Cornell is my favorite.... whether it's his solo work.... or with Soundgarden or Audioslave. "No one sings like you anymore."

Chris Cornell's acoustic songs are his absolute best. "Cleaning my gun" and "as hope and promise fade" will give you chills hearing the emotion in his voice
What people don't understand about Chris Cornell is he had soul and r&b in his voice.
This song is basically my lifes anthem, when my oldest daughter and her unborn son were killed by a drunk/ drug impaired driver in 2006 and that was followed up by the loss of my youngest daughter in a drowning accident in 08 then i iost both parents and contracted cancer in 2010 and again in 2012 .I've truly been lost and left behind by words i could never find . i've had friends who have lost children as i have who came to me seeking guidance through those losses and i feel so inadequate when they ask me for help navigating through this unbearable emotional trauma..... i listen to this song every morning when i get up ,it's so beautiful.... some days i sit here and cry thinking of my girls and grandson and i think of how i will respond if i ever get asked about all that ive been through . I'm still lost and left behind by the words i never find .... but i get up and still try..i will leave with this, tell everyone in your life that you truly love and whose presence in your life you treasure that you love them each and every chance you get because both you and them can be gone in the blink of an eye .

I live in Seattle and was in my late teens/early 20s around the music scene at this time. Chris Cornell used to make these recordings at home on a four-track recorder. I remember a lot of girls in the scene at the time wanting to find out where he lived so he could sing to them, LOL.
“Reach Down” from when Chris was in Temple of the Dog, highlights the soulfulness in his voice. ♥️

“When I’m Down” Chris Cornell live is the fucking savagely good. Just blues and soul and happiness and pain in a song. It’s tasty as fuck!
This song is like a time machine that takes me back to my mid teens in the mid 90s, I could stay there forever
PS he did a song with the Zac Brown Band called heavy is the head. That song is incredible. And if you want to see what I think is one of his best performances, a song called "when I'm down" live at the troubadour. It's just him in a piano and he is incredible. Oh and #earthgrabbers for life!!

*This is a very good one...I have the 'Singles'; Soundtrack CD and the movie DVD. Birth Ritual is a great Soundgarden track from the Movie. I have yet to convince any reactors to try Mother Love Bone (MLB) songs. Even though the Seattle bands thought MLB could be the one to get the world to take notice of them all. Chris Cornell and Andy Wood had been roomates and were friends. But Andy Wood (MLB singer) died before their first album was released in 1990. Two members (Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament) from MLB went on to form Pearl Jam. MLB songs to try: Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns__Stargazer__This is Shangrila__Man of Golden Words__Bone China__Holy Roller__Gentle Groove__and more. Temple of the Dog (phrase comes from the MLB song Man of Golden Words) was formed by Soundgarden and Pearl Jam Members. Two Temple of the Dog songs are tributes to Andy: Say Hello 2 Heaven__Reach Down.*
They did a deluxe version of the soundtrack a few years back. They added some new stuff like a song from Truly, the band formed from ex-Soundgarden bassist Hiro Yamamoto and ex-Screamingn Trees drummer Mark Pickerel, as well as more songs Chris Cornell did at the same time as Seasons. He submitted them all as a mock demo tape for Matt Dillon’s band in the movie. Definitely worth a look for those who loved the original soundtrack.

I was a teenager living in Seattle in the 90s, this song reminds me of home there now that i live in Utah.
