    Jerry Cantrell needs the love!
    Layne Staley absolutely brought it life ..
    Unbelievable together..
    Their harmony is almost unmatched

    • @chrishemphill4535

      He also wrote 90% of AIC lyrics as well
      Jerry Cantrell was the driving force behind this band.
      Layne was an incredible voice.
      A true one of a kind .

      That's EXACTLY wassup. I love Layne, one of the best voices I ever heard, but JC was the master creator. He wrote every single thing except Angry Chair. Their harmonies haunt you. I miss this band so much

      Although Layne did contribute to the lyrics in several songs.. Jerry C was the MAN. Just sad that heroin has taken so much music from all of us.😔

    • @PastorOfMuppets74
      @PastorOfMuppets74 2 года назад

      @@chrishemphill4535 Couldn't agree with you more bro. The only music contributed by Layne was Angry Chair. Jerry carried that band on his back since Dirt. The rhythm section was doin their thing and poor Layne was balls deep by then. I miss em every day. I miss that anticipation of a new album. Their harmonies are on par w CS&N or the Mama's n Papa's as far as I'm concerned. The Beach Boys damn it. But so dark and ominously beautiful. Most singers I grew up listening to (in the mainstream) are dead. Either smack or suicide. I hope the next wave gets it. They're due up...every 30+ years. 30s, 60s, 90s...NOW. Nice time for a revolution

  • @mystisage13
    @mystisage13 3 года назад +92

    The guitarists came out 1st, hopefully to encourage Layne to come to the stage (there was probably some kind of discussion going on backstage, trying to convince Layne to come out and sing) and for several seconds it seemed like maybe he wouldn't. But he did, and performed perfectly even with all the issues he was having (depression, addiction, etc). RIP Layne🙏

    • @PastorOfMuppets74
      @PastorOfMuppets74 2 года назад +17

      From what I've read...Mtv had been hounding AIC to do an Unplugged. They hadn't been around ea other, much less performed in many months cuz of Layne's addiction issues. Rehearsal was terrible. Nobody expected anything but a possible disaster, and Metallica was in the front row w/ their new haircuts (reason for msg on the bass). Layne did need some coaxing and did just enuff smack to get thru the show but not nod out. What ended up happening was pure Majic, and you can see it in the eyes and smiles of Jerry and the other guys. Layne sang his heart out...kind of a goodbye performance...just like Kurt

    At that level of addiction, being high becomes your normal. It becomes home to you, the only place you're comfortable. I highly doubt he would have been able to pull off that performance without being in the world that inspired it. I can honestly say I shed tears every time I see this. Years later, same emotions still right there...

    Hi from Kentucky! Just wanted to add that they hadn’t played a show together in almost two years and barely practiced. They were so intertwined musically and it shows. Layne had lost tons of weight and knew he looked sick. I read he was somewhat shy and that it took a lot for him to go out on stage that night. Reference Jerry looking back, hoping Layne would come out. And also, on sludge factory when he messes up. You can tell he’s really embarrassed. He came back and KILLED IT tho. RIP Layne and Mike

    that is ,a thing‚ with Layne
    he seems stoned, ,,emotionless,,
    but his emotion is music - it is ,,invisible‚‚ to all but ears
    he was ONE with music, therefore, he stands like stone, while the music is the WHOLE of expression
    he was the NEXUS of music
    (and goddamn - he STILL IS, God bless him and rest his soul)

    Many rockers were on heroin and saw Aerosmith as Steven Tyler and Joe Perry were so out of it that finally the audience started booing. It's an ugly drug. As a nurse I saw many functioning addicts when I worked in Seattle. They don get the pleasure but enough to keep withdrawals from happening. In saw Layné standing across the street and he looked like an angel, with his long. Blonde curly hair and he was tall and beautiful when he first came on scene. ❤️

    The sad part is he knew he was addicted to heroine and he couldn’t break it. Even when his fiancé died from heroine before this. Towards the very end of his life, Layne was a complete shut in. He wouldn’t let anyone in his small apartment including his mother. He didn’t want anyone to see him look like that. The few times he did leave he’d go to a local Game Stop to pick up video games. When they did find him after he passed away he weighed something like 96 pounds but he was 6’4”iirc..

    To all those on here crying like little babies because Asia and BJ are doing exactly what their channel says... Walmart got HUGS 50% off so make your way up there and stock up. They are doing song reactions for their fans or maybe just themselves. I love hearing what they have to say, how they feel and what they feel about certain parts of the song. Lets you know their character, tells you a little bit about them as a person. It's 100 times more awesome that they are doing it to a kick azz tune that you love. I personally like the breaks throughout the song because it's their raw feelings and thoughts at that very moment. Some wait till the songs over before they layout their take on the song..doesn't bother me, it is what it is. That being said... for those crybabies on here, shove that passy in your mouth and get to Wally world. 🤷🏻‍♂️FRFR. Asian and BJ keep up the stellar reactions!
