The Genesis G80 is relatively unknown in the luxury sedan world. This vehicle really impressed me and the sky is the limit for this luxury brand from Korea.
I really like what Hyundai/Kia/Genesis have been doing lately. I feel like they left Acura and Infiniti behind. And now they're knocking on Lexus doors. Their motors are very powerful.
You asked for someone to comment on the Lexicon stereo, so here goes: Lexicon is a brand sold under the Harman International Industries ("Harman") umbrella. Harman is a manufacturer of in-home stereo systems and, now, automobile stereos. In terms of automobile stereos, Harman makes brands such as Lexicon (used in Rolls Royce, Genesis, Kia, and Hyundai), Harman/Kardon (used in BMW, Kia, Volvo, Mercedes, Buick, Chrysler, Dodge, and many others), JBL (used primarily in Toyotas), Bang & Olufsen (used in Audi, BMW, Aston Martin, and others), Infinity (used primarily in Hyundai, Kia, and Chrysler/Dodge) Mark Levinson (exclusive to Lexus), and Revel (exclusive to Lincoln). Lexicon started out making in-home theater/stereo equipment and has an outstanding reputation for quality and clarity. The first vehicle to offer a Lexicon brand stereo was the Rolls Royce Phantom. In 2009, Hyundai released the then-new Hyundai Genesis sedan which offered a 528 watt 17 speaker Lexicon stereo, becoming the second car to offer a Lexicon stereo. I personally owned a 2009 Hyundai Genesis 4.6 and was BLOWN AWAY at how phenomenal the stereo sounded. It was one of the best stock stereos I had ever heard. I later bought a 2013 Hyundai Genesis 5.0L Rspec model which also offered the exact same stereo. Upon purchase, I could immediately tell that it did not sound as clear or as enveloping as my 2009. After conducting some research, I found out that Hyundai/Lexicon "dumbed down" the system starting in model year 2012 due to a high number of amp failure rates. Eventually, the same 17 speaker Lexicon stereo made its way into the Hyundai Equus and Kia K900 luxury sedans. It now offers 900 watts of power. I now drive a 2018 Genesis G90 5.0 with the 17 speaker Lexicon stereo. In 2017, Lexicon added Harman's patented "Clari-Fi Music Restoration" feature and "QuantumLogic Surround Sound." I can tell you that the Lexicon stereo in my G90 is OUTSTANDING and even better than the original version in my 2009 Hyundai Genesis. It's also miles ahead of the version in my 2013. I have listened to countless in-car stereos and, in my opinion, the current 17 speaker Lexicon setup in the G90 is one of the best, if not the best, in-car stock stereos I have EVER heard. That same exact stereo is now offered in the Genesis G80 (the car you tested here) and the newly-redesigned Kia K900. The Genesis G70 has a lesser 15 speaker Lexicon stereo and it sounds pretty darn good. I hope this information helped! Thanks for the review. Genesis vehicles are exceptional.

why not? I want to know what some one with his lexus insight feels about other brands and how they stack up. he works for lexus and people are trading in other top model brands for a new lexus which leads to a great opprotunity. I'm sure he appreciates the clicks tho

Genesis doesn't have a problem with reliability. In fact, this car has been out 2008 (as Hyundai) and since 2015 (as a Genesis model), and ranks well with regard to reliability. It's also significant cheaper than the competition, so I'm not sure what you mean about getting the price point right. BMW's don't hold on to their value. Larry as a current owner of this vehicle, I can assure you that it isn't a wannabe Lexus. Genesis benchmarks the Germans as well as the Japanese luxury companies and their cars offer a much different experience than Lexus cars. Yes there are similarities. Also before and when Genesis ran into issues with it's dealer strategy, this car outsold the GS and several other midsize luxury cars. www.goodcarbadcar.net/2018/12/small-and-midsize-luxury-car-sales-in-america-november-2018/ I had to drive 3 hours to get my hands on my car in the spec that I wanted if that tells you how hard it was to get one. Dealers were suing to have rights to sell them versus their standalone model. Now that the dealer issues have been sorted through and they are getting inventory, I think we will see a change in numbers.

hopefully genesis will not add anything more that are stupid fwd to there line up. so many really really great iconic rwd sedan/crossovers that were gone in the past 4,5 years or will be discontinued by 2019, like infiniti qx70(''poor people's'' better looking more reliable x6), cadillac cts/ats, qx50 is also replaced w fwd from rwd, infiniti q70 might discontinue as well (hopefully they dont replace it w a upbadged fking maxima), chevrolet ss (the more practical version of camaro).
like why there like only 5% of the cars sold in canada is rwd which is almost as same as percentage of cars that are standard being sold. the only rwd lexus they have in canada rn is the rcf/lc500f(with a price tag that no one will ever ever buy) and is200t.
Sean QU....All Genesis cars are RWD with AWD option.
I wonder what Lexus they dumped this car for on trade in lol
: T. I was wondering the same thing too!😂😂
The gentleman bought an LC 500
@@KirkKreifels sweet
What are you doing that’s not a Lexus. Lol😂😂😂
Wow bronze, what the heck is Lexicon?
Okay buttweet
Why review other vehicles when you're obvious extremely bias? I don't understand.
why not? I want to know what some one with his lexus insight feels about other brands and how they stack up. he works for lexus and people are trading in other top model brands for a new lexus which leads to a great opprotunity. I'm sure he appreciates the clicks tho
Did you watch the review above? It wasn't biased. He said that he likes the car very much and would consider owning it himself. His criticisms of this car were all minor. He also has minor criticisms of Lexus.
Wow that looks like ah ah Hyundai to me. Come on this car has been out for 10 years! It looks like what it is a Hyundai Genesis
wayne...you're right, this car has been out a long time. Not 10 years, since 2013. Just wait til this summer and you see the new G80. Whole different beast.
Againg toyota lexus.they copy some inside.look at d clock its d same as the lexus.so u c bro.they need toyota to inspr....them in auto making
Dumb ass comment from Jamaica, go figures lol. Like Lexus didn't copy?
If they can get the reliability and price points right then they'll be up their with lexus in about a decade.
These don't really hold their value that much.
German cars in general don't hold on to their value.
Good points 👍
@@chigasaki06 lol yeah it isn't as reliable as Toyota or lexus or Acura or Honda.
They have a long way to go.
@@ashishpatel350 agreed. I have owned both the 2009 and 2015 models. I loved them both, but they both had their issues.
Looks frozen
Brrrrr!
Big up from jamaica bro.hmmm toyota lexus .toyota over all making bigger grills which to me looks great.ppl bash but look now bro new bmw 7 ser... big grill and others r copying too even this car.hmmm toyota always set a standard that all other autos follow.r more like copy.small cars like vitz name was different b4 dat.all autos copy to stay in d game wen gas was going up.honda fit didnt start making till 2000.start making in u.s.a in between 2005 2006.toyota in d business of making everything b4 all other auto.they nust copy trying to compete with the king.nice reveiw .but its not a toyota so am not intrested.
Lexus wannabe
I saw Doug's review.
He mentioned Genesis is not selling VERY well as of now.
The emblem reminds me of the Chrysler badge .......
damn leave him alone, he's trying out new stuff.
No need to defend me. Larry wasn't referring to me as the wannabe, rather the g80.

I had to drive 3 hours to get my hands on my car in the spec that I wanted if that tells you how hard it was to get one. Dealers were suing to have rights to sell them versus their standalone model. Now that the dealer issues have been sorted through and they are getting inventory, I think we will see a change in numbers.
LEXUriouS Kirk ...Thank you Kirk !
Of course I was referring to the G80 ..Why you???? Lol...
Anthony Colbert ..Yes I know there was a dealer problem. As Kirk said; let's see long term reliability..
Kia has a long long way to go to be the marquee[ brand] that Lexus reputation has. The Equus ..g80 was a super nice car with super depreciation.
Lexus.. goes without saying.
Resale value ..dependability..best dealer experience and customer service and auto technicians in the auto industry REPUTATION
