Took in my sonata for recall and got a g80 for the new year weekend as a rental. Let me tell you I transport all kinds of cars and this car is simply one of the best I have driven. Everything on it is solid.
It came time for me to consider trading in my Mercedes. What’s in my driveway today? Genesis G80 Ultimate sedan. I just couldn’t justify the $$$ nor the upkeep of Mercedes. Add to that the panoramic sun roof and the fact that when it comes time for servicing, Genesis brings the loaner TO ME takes my car in for service and then brings it back to my house. So happy I made the swap. I WON’T GO BACK TO MERCEDES, BMW OR AUDI again. Just my choice and yes I can afford the aforementioned. To each their own.
I'm considering the same my only deterrent is location. I relocated from MA to AZ and there is no Genesis dealer only Hyundai dealer ship. No dedicated area for Genesis there are only two guys who try to cater to the Genesis model. If Bill or Bob aren't available then your SOL. I feel I won't be able to enjoy the Genesis experience with this platform.
4 ways to open the trunk, Dave. The 4th way is the hands free trunk by walking up to the back of a locked car and waiting for 3-4 seconds while it beeps and it will open.
Hyundai is nailing it with their recent designs. But even better than looking good, they're actually functional. Hope the get that juicy luxury market share that they deserve.

Lynn, Yes! The seats don't fold down on the G80 Sport, but (as Dave) mentioned there is a "ski passageway". Folding seats would've been a nice touch, but most vehicles in this class don't offer that feature anyways.

Of course it is a marvel production only if they could perfect their current line of products first. They have to gain respect first before comparing themselves with pack leaders. I've been waiting for you to get this car. I saw this car in the Korean car show last year but they blacked out the windows and locked the doors. Sad. But got to sit in the G90 and G80. What a beautiful car in and out. But I am also looking at the Kia Stinger which should be coming out later this year.

The incoming head of design at Hyundai now to replace Mr Schreyer who is retiring after a decade at Kia/Hyundai, is Luc Donckerwolke, who designed VW, Bentleys, Lamborghinis and Bugattis. So if they look German or Italian now, there is a reason...its because they've been DESIGNED BY GERMANS/EUROPEANS (I think Luc is Belgian but don't quote me). The quality from the Korean brands and going to be and have been topping the German brands now... That Kia GT Stinger that will be reaching showrooms...has a Korean Kia badge...but that's basically a German engineered car built in Korea...best of both worlds

One of the reasons the engine feels so strong is that the torque peaks at a low 1,500 rpm.

On my Canadian G80 Sport AWD, when one presses "Drive Mode" and holds it down, it switches to "Snow Mode". So four modes.

Bull Hill this is silly. This not the same company as in the 1980s. Where have you been? Toyota engineers and BMW suspension chief were plucked years ago to bring this brand where they are.
