I'm reading the series for the first time and I like it, but I also looked up reading orders when I started and people said to read Assassin's Blade as the second or third one, and so I did... which was a huge mistake. I don't understand why people recommend that when you definitely have to read it first...
I THOUGHT THE SAME THING!!!! I felt like it didn’t make enough sense there plot-wise and it took me out of the main plot for long enough that I forgot some things when it was doing a TON of world building. Glad I’m not the only one
Unpopular opinion: I highly enjoyed throne of glass, crown of midnight, heir of fire and Assassin’s Blade way more than the second half of the series. I ended up DNF-ing kingdom
Of ash bc it was just dragging and everyone’s internal monologue was just the same over and over and over again. All they did was hop around for 700 pages. Ended up googling how it ended and i was like “that’s it?”
The first book was really boring to me and had some issues. I almost didn't continue the series, but I'm reading Crown of Midnight now and it's grabbed my interest.
Big question dose it have spice I need to know so I can see if I wanna read it cause if it dose I don’t wanna read it but pls let me know
I’ve heard there is minimal spice in some of the later books (Kingdom of Ash I’m pretty sure has a few scenes, and I’m pretty sure Heir of Fire? Not sure, haven’t read it.) I’m in the same boat with you, and I know it’s less smut heavy than acotar

And this series is still a gateway fantasy. Meaning: only an entry level of fantasy series, on a book tier would never have chance against anything considered serious in “character”, “world building”, “storytelling”… not to mention themes, ideas, etc… this is a very simple book told in a very long series… this seems to be an epic fantasy but it’s just the appearance of it.
And therefore it has no value? What’s your point
@@kelsss my point was what I wrote. This is her best and it’s still at the gateway level of fantasy series. It’s value is exactly there. Good start but that’s all. Every way is up from here. This is not a big deal. And an editor could cut 30% of it out easy. Yes, I read it. The other series are smut book and nothing else, with a moral compass so bad that it’s not a surprise why her new business model turned up with the 5 different versions - that is money grabbing based on her fans loyalty. Simply disgusting.
@@nazimelmardi let people enjoy whatever they want. It doesn't have to be high fantasy to be worthy of praise.
And if you don't like smut, don't read it. Don't talk shit about it - maybe you're not the target audience?
Is there a series you can recommend that’s better? Haven’t read TOG yet but looking for some good fantasy series.
Not all of us read books to be "intellectually stimulated", some of us simply want to connect with lovely characters in a world that isn't our own. The point of the series is not necessarily to be a "high level" fantasy book, but rather a series that connects with people's hearts, not everyone needs to read classics. Also if the publisher felt the need to delete 30% they probably would have, yet they didn't.@@nazimelmardi
