I completely agree with you about what you said about Big Hit filming the members when they’re sick and tired, that’s so bizarre to me why you would film such personal and intimate moments of someone and then broadcast it for all the fans to see. And then so many armys romanticize that behaviour of overworking yourself. It’s got to stop.

Well this explains a lot, I’ve been wondering why Armys are so diehard about getting them every possible award over everyone else, and when other people complain about it, they defend it by saying ‘they deserve it, because they’ve worked so hard!’ As a multi, this made no sense to me since this is k-pop; what artist doesn’t work hard!? But if they are constantly shown images of their faves being pushed beyond the limits of reason, no wonder they’d feel they have to match this passion...

Thank you for calling out Big Hit on their bullshit! I don’t know why so many ARMYS act like Big Hit is the best company. It’s weird how you always see them complain about other companies for things that Big Hit is literally doing as well. They say YG is too controlling of Blackpink, but they can’t even see that Big Hit does the same thing with BTS. They say that JYP infantilizes women (TWICE), yet no one talks about how Big Hit infantilizes men. They complain about how SM overworks its idols and just uses them for money (the whole “they created SuperM for money” argument), but they can’t even see how Big Hit is milking the fuck out of BTS and overworking them so much. Big Hit has really got so many armys fooled lol

Bang PD has personally affirmed himself as someone who always makes sure he gets what he wants. In an interview he did about the success of BTS, he was asked if his mentor JYP was a bit envious of his success with BTS in the west especially the American market. He replied by saying that JYP was actually happy for him and what differentiates him from JYP is once he sets his mind to achieve something, he keeps his eyes on the prize no matter the setback and keeps pressing on instead of changing directions. This is evident even in the way he manages BTS. He makes sure he pushes them and pushes them and squeezes them for all they are worth. Like BTS singlehandedly built what is now this big corporation, I mean literally with their "blood sweat and tears". Yes, he was instrumental in nurturing them and contributing to their successes through his vision and management tactics but lets not pretend that we don't know whose bank account had by far the better end of the deal. Well, unfortunately that's how the entertainment industry works, its all about the bottom line and to survive in such a market, no matter how pure one's intentions were in the beginning, once they become part of the elite, they want to remain there at the top and will do anything to remain there and whoever believes otherwise is just kidding themselves.

I agree with most of this. I also feel guilty when watching them cry, watching them struggle. It hurts when I see them in tears or when I see them in pain. One of the hardest moments was that 2018 MAMA award ceremony when J-Hope took the mic first. He got through like... 1 paragraph and started crying. The genuine PAIN on his face had me in tears. Watching their shoulders SHAKE with emotion. It's so painful to watch. Although I think, the off stage thing, as uncomfortable as I find it, I think if BTS really wanted them to stop filming, they would have asked. They would have twisted away and hid their faces. They didn't. To me, I think this shows that they trust their company not to take things too far. BigHit censors their faces sometimes (Jin on the roller coaster...). I do absolutely hate these scenes. They make me cry.
Also, this isn't exactly BTS-relevant, but when Jonghyun from SHINee passed away and the photographers were filming idol reactions? BTS was also there. Why do people think that's necessary? It's clear these moments are private and should be private. If someone I loved passed away, I would not want a camera shoved in my face. Wouldn't want a money thirsty person to film my reaction, probably excited as I'm crying because they're going to earn money off my tears. That's creepy. That's something idols don't deserve. But I think sometimes BTS almost... I mean I can't say for certain, but I think they want us to know these things sometimes. Want us to know it's okay, not to be okay. BTS is all about authenticity as you've said. Remember the way V announced his grandma's passing to ARMY?
Also, about the Vlive thing, I... agree and disagree. I don't know whether it IS or ISN'T their ideas, because actually I can see Jimin just on a whim wanting to make food and asking the staff how to make it. In Vlives, I think the staff are there to watch and help them out, more than control them. They don't seem to be controlled. They don't look... too tense... if you know what I'm saying? And like, they still do those Vlives where they talk about nothing. Admittedly, their mostly birthday Vlives, but a while ago, before Jungkook and RM's birthday's, I remember watching Jimin just chatting in a Vlive. But the whole thing about TxT, I agree with. It makes me sad too. I think BigHit is really pushing the 'cute' image. Like their idols are always portrayed as cute nowadays. Oh do a cute pose here, or, show us your cutest pose, even like, how would you say/do this aegyo. *sigh...
I also completely agree with the remixes. Have you heard the remixes of butter? That weird auto tune thing they put on their voices ew. Also dynamite itself I just... I can't. I can understand the meaning and stuff of the song. I understand it's supposed to "cheer us up". But like. They didn't write that song. They had nothing to do with the song. Not even Namjoon who is often credited in BTS songs had input on that song. I don't HEAR any meaning behind the song. Have you read the lyrics??? I find 'Life Goes On' from the BE album to be more soothing, honestly. Also, Dynamite itself was just a massive... okay don't come at me, but that song was a literal joke. I don't know if BTS likes that song, and I really hope they do because oh lord. The amount of times they had to perform that ONE song in America was insane. Literally all the big interviewers and stuff were getting them on the show to sing that ONE song (most except like... Jimmy Fallon and... James Corden...). They rarely performed other songs. ESPECIALLY their Korean songs. That's what made me mad. Dynamite brought in so much profit, but for what? The songs not even that good. Sure, it's catchy. But the lyricism cannot compare to all those other BTS songs. Fake Love? Spring Day? To name the more popular ones because my favourite songs with the prettiest lyrics don't get very much hype.
Not gonna lie, I agree that the gift for fan things is really a push, although it's obvious that this is what BTS themselves want (the concert), the wording seems a little strange... we're not a pot plant you need to 'nurture'. However, I think that most the things that BTS and BigHit do, is indeed for ARMY and to please us. That being said, although it is to please us, it's more for the money and they're using ARMY as an excuse. I still believe that BigHit is a good company. Not in the way they treat fans, but in the way they treat BTS.

I agree! As much as I enjoy watching edited compilations of BTS, the shitload of content is getting out of hand. A more "extreme" example for the opposite end of the spectrum is BLACKPINK. Despite not releasing as much content as BTS, they're not overworked at least (though some aspects should be criticized). I get that K-pop is more than just the music, but I feel like fans are partly at fault for demanding way too much. As a critical fan myself, we really need to draw the line on the fandom aspect.

suddenly I want this video framed. This is completely true, when I was still an army and saw that they released a burn the stage documentary where they documented everything that happens off stage. From the preparations and everything which is kinda nice to see how they work and how much effort they put into but somehow when they showed the members being tired, needing oxygen, or treating injuries is too intimate and too private?? including the fact that you are being filmed in such a vulnerable state. That's kind of disturbing to see. yes sure, the members maybe agreed or gave consent for them to get filmed but Idk but it seems like a marketing strat to me. When a company releases a video or a footage of an idol being tired, overworked, sleeping or any vulnerable state they are in, whether it has consent or not, it becomes a card for fans to use on awardings which causes a lot of fanwars. For example, "Group A deserved the award more than group B since they worked too hard". Aren't idols work hard? I mean it's in their system. It doesn't mean that Group A worked more, that they should deserve the award. Every idol deserve an award because they work so hard so fans should stop using the 'they worked too hard, they deserve more' card just to invalidate the other kgroups. Also with the vlives being sometimes scripted is true. I've seen a lot of vlives where they have staff behind the camera but honestly it's not bad because if it was me I will be panicking in front of a camera with millions of viewers esp if I'm alone. Having a staff monitoring you helps esp if you needed something right away on cam.
I will never be a company stan, I only stan talent ;)
Anyways, a very nice video! @enshanti

I am glad you made a video speaking about the capitalism of BTS by BH. I could sense that will happen as they gained momentum in the US and other countries. There are stores selling merchandise with bts on them and BT21. There is a store called hottopic that is selling merchandise with tinytan on them. I guess BH partnered with Hottopic in order for them to sell tinytan.
I don't like seeing how a member will be so extremely exhausted behind the stage that makes me feel that I shouldn't cheer as much for them by knowing that they become exhausted to the point of needing that oxygen canister and collapsing. Its partially because of big hit's promotional tactics that BTS has become so famous in the west with their fans growing exponentially. So BTS is not entirely a victim in this whole ordeal either. They have also profited hugely off of this. Especially now, when they are being recognised as equals by the western artists (which is a great thing). So the narrative that big hit has squeezed them for their own greed is only partially true, imo. They both have helped each other succeed, they both worked to make fans happy and they both have been capitalists. And with every concert ticket price, ever merch, every brand collab i remebered how yoongi hated capitalism. It seems, you only hate capitalism when you're poor.
And yes i am an army. But i can have my opinions whether someone agrees or not.

I couldn't agree MORE!! Ofc bts deserves all of this fame and promotion but fr bighit is really just milking off their fame, and it's sad unfortunate that fans don't see it because they just think of it as just normal daily content but I got to say it "BTS ARE OVERWORKED!" like there is no disagreement to that. When they finally got a proper break was after Boy with Luv fans were complaining about where was the content, comebacks, promotions, vlives etc. Not knowing that their last break before that WAS 3-4 YEARS AGO! Imagine being overworked for 3-4 years and your fans complaining about it? Also, I'm still waiting for bighit to address the oversexualizing/infant sizing of the members to themselves as well as other idols, the members even said that they weren't comfortable with it and fans still manage to do it. That's literally one of my pet peeves of this fandom like when a member gets hurt they just reply with "awww poor baby hope you get better soon sweetie" like stop they are literally ADULTS, ALMOST TO THEIR 30s, this is just an overall problem in kpop fandoms but it's mostly being used in the army fandom. BigHit needs to do something about this for real, and actually let bts have proper care.

ok wow someone finally put into words what I've been subconsciously thinking for a while.
    1) Yes, it's absolutely disgusting to shove a camera in the member's face when they literally have 2 minutes to inhale some supplemental oxygen and get back on stage. I get it they need to capture everything and other artists do doc shows like this too but that doesn't make it any better.
    2) But regarding how busy BTS is, it's a little grey area for me bc yes ofc they were busy (especially 2017-2019) but with their new contract I think it will be different. They probably prepare everything years in advance and probably already have plans for BTS when different members enlist for military service. They also seem to like what they are doing and seem to have a good relationship with BSH.
3)Regarding their 'authenticity' yea they probably didn't wake up one day and were like 'let's paint army bombs' but I mean I still think they are open to say what they want. Due to their level of fame, they just need staff to do damage control if necessary asap. Same with TXT they have the manpower to have staff to be with TXT. It sucks that they have to play an 'image' but most idol groups do in the beginning.
    4) Dynamite isn't a song I like but I'm happy it's doing well on the charts maybe since I've been an army for a while (stanned them since Run era anyone else?) I've seen the way they changed their music to be marketable. It's what makes them money, catering to what their general target audience with like. But like I think it's fine because I respect their message and I listen to the songs I like from them. I don't feel obligated to like everything they put out (trust me I don't nor do I have the time to lol)
3)Bighit as a company motives are no different from other companies, I think it is weird that they are put on a pedestal compared to other companies. BSH is a billionaire now he is way beyond thinking about these groups, it's all about what will get him the money to prove to the world how successful he can make his company.
4)For example what they did with Iland, was basically made to help with their IPO. I didn't like ILAND I just felt like everything was so staged (the competition and crying) and like none of the performances were even live. Did I ever hear their live vocals? Also, they are debuting this year with 04' and 05' liners like really young (Niki is literally still going to be 14 when they debut). It has barely been two years since TXT debut and Ik they are managed through another company but still.
But at the end of the day do I unstan Bighit? Idk. Bighit is doing what they need to do to be competitive in their market just like everyone else. Name one 'good company that treated their idols fairly and not like cash cows' I'll wait

When it comes to "company stans", I want to bang my head against the wall every time they put certain K-pop companies on a pedestal (the current/most notorious cases being Big Hit and JYP). I feel like these fans have really turned a blind eye to those companies' injustices and the fact that they're still parts of a problematic industry.
This is why I stan the artists, not the companies that represent them. As long as they’re happy, I wouldn’t mind if my favourite artists switched companies.

I think having staff on Vlive is a normal thing, but the staff should be there to handle the cameras and lighting etc. not micro manage their behaviour or actions like you said
Yes, I loooooved BTS' older content - like even tho I'm not an Army I can see how authentic they were in the past and they were actually really funny.
Compared to TXT rn, I still remember that supposedly "funny" segment when one of the members chased the other down with an umbrella that is just so conveniently placed beside him... ONLY 1 umbrella, placed there, near the window, beside the member who gets teased "randomly".... yeah it was staged for sure :((
Personally rn, I think the group with the funniest and most authentic Vlive content is Treasure and Seventeen. Oh and maybe Loona too HAHA.

i agree with the stanning bighit part, but i totally disagree with you on bighit artists not getting to show their real selves. like c'mon, do you think idols can ever be their true selves when the general public is constantly scrutinizing every action of theirs? also, why are you making it sound as if bts are the most authentic artists out there who only do the things they like? yeah they are given creative freedom, but just as any other idol, there is a certain image they ought to maintain. they too are told how to act in many situations and it shows. Moreover,Jikook doing that gimbap making live, how do you know they were forced to do it and were being monitored by staff in fear of what they might blurt out? that is a pretty dubious assumption. Its quarantine, armys are craving for bts content and there is a need to keep bts buzz going . jikook themselves might have came up with that or maybe they just agreed to the company's suggestion. the staff might have very well been there for some sort of help and not to "control" them. same goes for txt, like cmon how can you say the staffs r at the back asking them not to act like their true selves? even if the staffs werent there, its not like txt would just pour their hearts out. i know the staff might be there to make sure they dont say anything that might spark a controversy, but that is only cos of how quick kpop stans r to jump on the cancel train. Kpop idols arent given as much freedom as the western idols, thats a fact. but that isnt just limited to bighit. thats how it is for every entertainment industry out there. Ofc idols like jae from day6 receives a lotta freedom, but its only him in that band that ha sthe privilege. Coming back to bighit, idk about txt since they r still rookies and might be being controlled , but bts..i dont think so. I really dont think the staff being present during some of their lives is enough proof to deduce that theory. so yea...

    • @pigeonheadspace
      @pigeonheadspace 3 года назад +2

besides, we cant really just say that these idols enjoy everything they do, like the games they play, etc. its all a scheme to feed fans' need to consume their faves' content. And , i dont think its okay to just corner bighit when they are in reality better than manyy entertainment companies out there in many aspects. Lol but yea, that doesnt call for stanning bighit, which is essentially, just an other ent. company .

I think there is a reason why BTS were asked to do lives with them making bracelets or dalgona coffee what not. There is a pandemic and they didn't have a choice but to make more content for their fans. Constant content and communication is needed especially with them having fans. Due to the nature of the Vlives, obviously there will be staff behind the scenes.
Those lives were giving BTS and Bighit time to plan better content during this trying time. They planned a world tour for God's sake, of course the company would have freaked out because of what happened. If you think about it, after those lives, a lot of quality content were given to their fans such as online concerts, In the Soop, Run episodes and genuine livestreams.
