It bothers me that SM has this "we don't disband our groups" -thing going on, like they just stop promoting some groups and just leave the fans in the dark,,
@@emilyarana9331 ikr!! I've been waiting f(x) come back forever! And now it's rumored that SM uses songs meant for f(x) to Red Velvet. And every time f(x) members are asked about the comeback, they just say it didn't work out. But SM can definitely make cb happen, if they want to. F(x) had so much potential, SM just couldn't promote them right
SNSD four members leaving the group, the group has been around for 12 years maybe? yet they still refuse to let them disband, even though they no longer are nation's girl group, letting Taeyeon come back like once a year ,but doing nothing about the rest of the members, and don't get me started on how badly timed Taeyeon's come back was, literally weeks after her good friend's passing...
It seems very much like a control thing to them. Like they don't want artists that they built up finding success elsewhere, or if they do give such a blessing there's always this tie back to the company. I mean, look at how long they've kept Jaejoong off of Korean programs. He's only been able to do some small things here and there until very recently, but it was YEARS before he could even dream of going on Korean programs. Although it wasn't legal, it's been obvious that SM has told production teams "If you want our idols, you'll keep the traitor off your stations". Because really, it's sending a greater message out to all of their artists, which basically says: If you don't stay with us and play by our rules, we will literally banish you and make certain no one will pick you up. Now Jaejoong is fortunate because he has the talent, the face and the intellect necessary to forge a career, but he literally had to go to another country to do so. I know he loves his work, and is happy with his fans. But I can't imagine having to put together a whole new life in what you love in a different country because you know that you can't do the same in your home country. Jaejoong is SM's greatest example to all their present and future artists of what will happen if anyone steps out of line.
Interesting how SM manages to file multiple lawsuits against idols that just want to leave the company, but fails to take any action when their artists are defamed and bullied
jax dae that shows where their priorities lie. Hopefully after Sulli’s passing SM will rethink the way they treat their artists. Having 2 people from the same company take their own lives in less than 2 years should be a wake up call. SM also nearly lost Kris due to them not letting him get treatment for his heart condition.
Rokhaya it shows. I’m not an expert in SM but an SM stan told me that, SM used to treat their artists better when they had the old CEO, around the time of TVXQ and Girls Generation. Their current CEO and staff need to be investigated for mistreating artists.
juli828 ewww that’s even worse than I thought. I thought SM took 95% of album revenue but they actually take more if the albums don’t sell enough. I know the Korean government have made slave like contracts illegal. I hope SM’s (and other companies’) contracts are much better these days.
i don’t really stan f(x) that much and didnt stan shinee when jonghyun passed, but it just hurts so much... it really hits different when you yourself are struggling with the same issue that they were and have considered doing the same thing that they did. jonghyun... i honestly regret not stanning shinee sooner. the subject of his death is honestly very sensitive for me, which is why i avoided stanning shinee. shawols talk about it nonstop. it’s everywhere. but now that i *am* a shawol, i really feel useless. we couldn’t do anything. and he was such a nice, kind person. so talented. i legitimately look up to him (along with the rest of shinee). he’s honestly such an inspiration for me...
@@cheshire793 its not really shawol who talks about it , non shawols is the onr who really just talking about that tragedy almost everywhere and thats why shawols feel so annoyed , i feel you too😔
What's sad is that SM's statement for Sulli wasn't as heartfelt as Jonghyuns was. Granted, they both sound the same, but SM addresses Sulli like she isn't a person and it bothers me...
Sulli was legit just a face to them. People always say she was SM's princess but the fact that they never really pushed her as an actress and mishandled her f(x) departure [which made her a scapegoat for their mistreatment of f(x)] always showed me that they saw her as a money bag.
@@bv9442 that is not true, everything got postponed after Sulli's passing. NCT was announced to come back in November with a new album and the comeback happened in March, the same for Red Velvet which released Psycho much later, in December. The photo shoot for finale happened somewhere in September and the comeback was pushed back because of obvious reasons. Also Taeyeon postponed her album by a month I think. Super Junior were promoting that time and they took a few days off. So I dont understand why are you saying this??
Sm is very successful in china, nowaday general public in china nearly all know SNSD, SJ and exo, some popular groups like bts, twice, bp are not very well known among general public because of the hallyu ban started from 2016, after NCT debuted, this is one of the reasons NCT is not that successful. Exo debuted in 2012, and ranked no.1 in most popular idols ranking in China(2013) even surpassed a lot of chinese idols, and boost physical sales because of huge chinese fanbase. Till now exo is still no.1 kpop group in china(i am chinese), but they can't promote there cause no concert, tv show drama allowed for kpop group(but lay promote as a sololist in china). wayv is made up of non-korean members can speak mandarin (not korean) and they change the name from 'NCT M' to Wayv so they can still promote there, but they can't mention they r one of the nct subunits to avoid controversy. But it is true sm treats their chinese idols very bad. But still a lot of chinese go to sm for audition, that is because they know sm idols are well known, and even they r not well treated, after they debut in sm they will be successful in China.
I honestly am not surprised. SM has a lot of talented idols that can write music. But they don't want them to show it. So that way when the idols contract is up, they idol thinks no one wants their songwriting talents. That's sad that SM controls their artist that hard
Because EXO's era for them is finished. They got to promote NCT and make them another money making group like EXO. Now, EXO only had 6 members active and their comeback dont really have hype. The MV's just posted in RUclips then their job is done. It's no wonder the fandom is decreasing, choosing more active group with atleast good songs.
I met SNSD Tiffany in Boston last week, and after our photo, really quickly I said, “everything you’ve been through this past decade you are the strongest women I know” she looked at me with big sad Eyes and said thank you for your words and gave me another hug 😭💖
I think that Japanese Flag scandal really hurt her. She was not prepared for the backlash she got from it in any way. After that happened, she couldn't get out of Korea fast enough.
@@Hughjasslol1 I was kidding lol and btw EXO don't get many comebacks as it is. And many people are speculating that there's a high possibility that rv wouldn't get any either when sm debuts their new gg. If the same thing that happened with fx happened with rv I'm seriously gonna snap. I don't think they'll leave EXO in the dungeon completely tho as they are the most successful sm group as of now and bring in most of the profits. But you never know with sm smh 😔. I hope this doesn't happen cause I love EXO SO MUCH. They're my ult group ❤️.
@@sooblyy6503 Not to be that person but RV isn't their biggest grp. ITS EXO. EXO surpassed all SM groups in terms of albums and Concert revenue with making of 43% of ALL SM profits. Not to mention EXO is also 2nd in digitals only behind Taeyeon and they still didn't have any cb this yr. RV is a very successful grp no doubt and they should be promoted but the way SM treats EXO aka their biggest moneymaker, I have fear that RV would be in the dungeon too if SM rookies debut next yr. If EXO is paid dust and gets no promotion or support from SM despite being Top in earnings , then RV has less hopes too unless SM decides to be fair and let them promote like now. For now, lets just hope SM gets their minds together and treats and support their idols fairly cuz SM is known as the most stubborn agency out there and I got to know it by the way they are sabotaging EXO repeatedly and still continuing it.
I’m so happy that Kris, Luhan and Tao are doing well after SM. It’s scary how they ignored Kris’s heart condition, we could’ve lost him, luckily we didn’t. I actually knew of Kris as an actor and model before I got into Kpop, I was blown away when I found out he was part of EXO
@@abhilashmehera3813 Luhan and Tao are still doing well aren't they? I hope Kris goes to jail, eww apparently it's been well-known that he's been into under-age teens for a long time but he was able to suppress those "rumours"
*"the monstrosity that was wolf"* lmaoo But in all seriousness, i genuinely hope SM will improve the way they take care of their idols, it's honestly saddening.
As a shawol, I do want to thank you for being respectful when talking about SHINee and Jonghyun. You included trigger warnings, didn’t use images from the funeral, and just reiterated the facts without trying to make it fit into a specific narrative. I do want to say though that I and many shawols agree that SM as a company, as bad as they are, had little to do with Jonghyun’s case (as far as we know). Many people will use him to fit the narrative that the kpop industry is too harsh or SM doesn’t treat their idols right, for instance by saying Jonghyun “couldn’t handle” the pressure (and again, thank you for not saying this because it’s seen way too often). But, as fans, it’s hard to see what SM could have done. Jonghyun had creative freedom for years. He wrote fully self-composed albums, composed and wrote for SHINee and his members and even idols from other companies. He was able to be a DJ as he wanted, and leave when he wanted. I think that companies should offer mental health treatment for their idols, but Jonghyun sought out help on his own. He left Blue Night to seek treatment for his insomnia, went to a doctor for his depression, made his depression known to his close friends and family so they could keep an eye on him, etc. The only thing I think SM could have done was, again, provide mental health treatment so that maybe Jonghyun could have gotten treatment for his depression from a more competent doctor than the one he unfortunately went to. When you look at it like that, what does SM being a bad company have to do with Jonghyun’s case? Don’t get me wrong, I hate SM, and could there be more behind the scenes? Absolutely. but according to what we from the outside can see, there isn’t much correlation. SM is bad for many reasons, Jonghyun’s case shouldn’t be twisted into something it wasn’t in order to prove that. That being said, I believe that SM as a company did have something to do with Sulli’s case. They could have protected her more, she begged them to do something about the malicious comments and SM acted like it was nothing, and after Jonghyun, even if it wasn’t as connected to them, they should have offered on-call mental health treatment for every single one of their employees, they should have been like JYP, who apparently has his idols get checked every month and will take action if they feel necessary so their idols can receive needed treatment. They could have helped her, and they didn’t. Like you said, it can’t be blamed on one person, but SM could and should have done more for her.
thank you for this comment. I really wanted to say the same thing, but you said it perfectly. Putting Jonghyun in this was really necessary and the creator herself didn't really criticise SM for anything, just stated the facts
Sadly, it all seems to be going the exact same way as EXO-M...The lack of promotion, the controversies like members not being allowed to talk about certain members , the fanwars within the fandom AKA between nctzens and weishenies, the isolation from the rest of the group. It's really sad to think that something like that would happen to them because we have already seem almost all of the NCT members together and how much they appreciate each other, how much they miss each other. Unfortunately, for the members and all of us nctzens, SM doesn't seem to learn their lesson from their previous experiences with Super Junior M and EXO-M and keeps on doing the same mistakes.
SM has some of the best artists, the best groups. They are so talented and successful. Yet, they treat them like this. It's sick. Two idols have died and both are from that company. I wonder if it's a coincidence or not.
Emma Bennett don’t say that, there are a lot of idols and artists in the Korean music industry that has passed way due to depression. But these two cases just got a lot of attention. Don’t just assume things. Jonghyun has suffered from his depression since a very young age and it’s most likely not even caused by the industry. Depression isn’t that easy that you can just pinpoint the reason. I’m not defending sm but we gotta stay real, suicide is complex and has a lot of factors, not just one reason.
@@souhaechan8363 In a country with a suicide rate as high as South Korea, it is not ok to blame the company alone, I'm not defending them, they've done horrible things, but there's only so much they could do about it

The way sm treats exo really annoys me. They where my intro to kpop and they’re such a big group but sm gives them awful promotions and treated the chinese members terribly. Lay is barely even a member at this point, they don’t let him take part in any promos and can we talk about how they don’t have dance practices for kkb, power, love shot, tempo and the list goes on. And then kai and baekhyun being overworked for superm which is the biggest moneygrab i’ve ever seen.

Your statement I have nothing much to say but the last part, why tho? you can see they really enjoy superm and just Kai being in the same group as Taemin. Overworked maybe but I still think they had a choice and they wanted to jump out at this chance to break into the western market more?

felilili some are more trash than others but I agree Korean entertainment companies are garbage. I’m an Army and Moa and it pisses me off when fellow Armys and MOAs praise BigHit so much and shutdown any criticism of the company. I thought if they were really fans of BTS and TXT they’ll want them to be treated well. They are treated well compared to other artists but they’re still overworked and restricted.
Thank you for mentioning the allegations against Taeyong being proven false, and how screwed up it was that SM just threw him under the bus and didn’t want to take the time to investigate just so that they could keep the date they wanted to debut, especially with Hansol leaving so unexpectedly. They also were able to capitalize on Taeyong even more in that situation, because due to what he was going through he wrote the song “Yestoday.”
I was hoping you were gonna mention Mark and how SM is literally taking advantage of him by adding him into every NCT subunit and not being able to rest. I love Mark, of course, but not only is he in all NCT units he is also in SuperM. Even though I love SuperM, SM is overworking Mark and I am so worried that it would affect his mental health. Meanwhile, members like Chenle, Renjun, Yuta and Johnny are just overlooked and not treated well. Renjun and Chenle travelled all the way from China to train and debut as an SM artist, but they don’t get treated well. NCT is bound to fail if SM continues this trend.
Other companies: add new members to groups Fans: Awesome! Welcome to the group! So excited to see what you’ve got in store for us. SM: adds members to Super Junior Fans: you *what* SM: adds Yeri to Red Velvet Fans: *YOU CAN’T DO THAT* *logic 100* Also. Y’all remember when SM literally said that the audience couldn’t sing happy birthday to Wendy IN HER HOME PROVINCE on her BIRTHDAY?
OngHwanHwi's stan If you’re talking about the part with Wendy’s birthday, Red Velvet was on their North American tour. They performed in Ontario on Wendy’s birthday, and Wendy’s from Ontario. SM said there wouldn’t be enough time to sing happy birthday to Wendy (even though it’s like a 30 second song), but thankfully Irene was like “nah screw that” and had the audience sing to her anyway.
I really hope that new NCT Dream members in the future won't have the same experience as Yeri when they debut. I can't imagine how 14 years old idols could handle all of those hates.
Actually, one of the board members of SM referred to WayV as a Chinese sub-unit of NCT, so yes, WayV IS part of NCT, and it's been confirmed. The reason why SM debuted WayV as a separate entity was because of tensions between South Korea and China and the restrictions that China set up against Korean businesses in China. So SM basically created an entire company/label (Label V, WayV's label) that showed no affiliations with NCT, a group from a Korean company (hence no mentions of NCT and no members with Korean citizenship). It isn't particularly fishy, this is just SM's strategy for coping with China's rules. It was an effort to show no links with Korea and to still be able to promote in China, one of the biggest markets in the world.
@@oldestmen5163 Have you read my entire comment? SM's goal with WayV was to create a group made up of SM Rookies (a batch of trainees-soon-to-be-idols that train or have trained under SM, a South Korean company) that could promote in China. The problem is that China and SK don't have very good business relations right now: Korean products have been boycotted, making Korean businesses based in China suffer. More importantly, China set up a ban on Hallyu, which makes it hard (or even impossible) for Korean artists to promote in China. Therefore, SM created a Chinese label based in China and sent its Chinese or some of its non-Korean idols to that label, which is called Label V. That label doesn't mention anything about SM or Korea to make it seem like WayV isn't affiliated to SM and/or Korea. SM's entire *purpose* was to create something that doesn't bear SMent's or NCT's name, so of course we'll never WayV in SMtown - THAT'S THE GOAL. But in reality, the people who create WayV's content, the people who initiated WayV and the people who finance WayV are people from SM - even the idols themselves. There even was a board meeting at SM where one of the board members confirmed that WayV/WeishenV was in fact the Chinese sub-unit of NCT (here's a link if you're not convinced: www.kpopmap.com/sm-entertainment-confirms-connection-between-nct-wayv/). In conclusion, WayV *is* part of SM and NCT, but we will never see WayV in SMtown indeed. Sorry for the long post.
@@RhythmAddictedState SM don't have any plan for theirs foreign idols. If they really want to create Chinese group to promote in China. They should do it like JYP's boy story.
@@oldestmen5163 What do you mean "don't have any plans for their foreign idols"? They literally recruit foreign idols in order to attract non-Korean audiences and promote in other countries. They created NCT to promote on different markets all around the world, as SMent said in their conferences for the launch of NCT. Suju-M was created so SM could enter the Chinese market and Chinese idols were trained for that purpose. Boy Story though... This group is both under JYP's Chinese division and Tencent, and they mention JYPent even though they promote in China. I wouldn't call that a particularly smart move. Korean entertainment is still under threat in China, so mentioning JYP could be a problem if China decides to tighten their rules concerning K-entertainment. I think SM's strategy of "hiding" their relationship with WayV is safer. Also, people who know about NCT get to know about WayV in the end, so not mentioning SM in WayV's content isn't even a problem, if that's what you're worrying about. When people think of WayV, they think of NCT and SM anyway.
Germ Antibody I seriously don’t agree with your opinion on this video. It’s stated multiple times that the deaths were not entirely SMs fault if at all. Nobody was placing blame on sm, but you can’t make a video talking about SM and their artists without covering those topics. It would be leaving out crucial information. It’s not a cashgrab, as if you look at the authors channel, this is an entire series they do, and although highly requested, they waited this long to even cover SM. In a TWO part episode, not only did they wait until the second episode to talk about these events, but also gave viewers the option to skip over it. On top of everything, that CLEARLY was not the focus of the episode, as it took up so so little of it. The author did really well being respectful about everything and I really don’t see where you’re getting these ideas.
Electro Diamonx Starship Entertainment issued an official statement That Wonho will be leaving Monsta X due to Wonho's “allegations” of possessing and using illegal drug (marijuana) in 2013 before his debut...🤨 right now the head director of Producer X101 has been arrested for allegations of Rigging, collusion, and fraud. Guess Who was also called for questioning?? The vice President of STARSHIP so yeah 2019 is not the year for kpop 😭
looking at what has happened in the past, i am so scared of how nct’s future will turn out. i’ve been a huge fan of all of them for about two years, and i don’t want any of them to be hurt or mistreated but it seems like history is repeating. i hope wayv will not be mistreated and that sicheng will get better treatment, because i cannot bear to see the members being separated and all 🥺
It’s like they haven’t learned from or acknowledge any of their issues. They still treat their idols terribly despite all the complaints from both their own idols and fans.
I know they're not technically idols but the sm rookie girls have also been mistreated for years. They were introduced in 2013, 2015 and 2016 with the promises of being promoted just the same as the rookie boys were, but that was not what happened. The last time sm talked about any of them in their official accounts was 2017, but for some of them it's been even longer than that. They didn't even get half of what they gave the boys, they didn't even include them in their app after using them on the promotional video. There's been no birthday posts, no photos, no news at all. Two of the members have even left the company due to sm not giving them any hopes for a debut (when it's been so long since rv's debut) and both of them have mentioned how insecure they've become after years of training and how hard it had been.
hana nope he’s actually mistreated like winwin but if not worse than winwin, Johnny never got lines not even when he debuted (yet he’s confident with his Korean), he never gets any screen time , And Even when they had their US promotions and had an English song they never gave Johnny any lines , And when they had a music video reaction for The Superhuman MV he asked where he was in the music video , and he didn’t even Debut with superM which markets the US when Johnny Himself is American. At this point Johnny is basically only used for translation at this point.
hana also a lot of nctzens say he isn’t mistreated just because He has Johnnys communication Center and *Had* Nct night night (A podcast he did with another member jaehyun) but yeah I think that was it I think there is more but I’ll think of it later
It bothers me that a lot of people think kpop is just a bunch of good-looking Asians that dance, sing, and rap together. There’s so much more that happens behind the scenes, they train for months and years, some don’t even get to debut, and they aren’t happy like everyone thinks they are
I love SM's artists, music, aestheric, but I CANT love SM as a company. If this things have to happen to your comunity and korean society make something to stop this something is VERY wrong
Rest in peace Jonghyun and Sulli. One of the things to be taken away from this video is that idols aren't always treated like people and that needs to change to where everyone, their fans, their managers, basically whoever is mistreating them like this, recognizes that there is genuine time and energy put, thoughts and feelings existing behind these idol's performances, and that their worth exists beyond their musical talent or their job. While I agree that we shouldn't take everything said in this video as concrete fact, it's not unbelievable that this type of thing would happen--it's unacceptable, however. I hope that people learn to humanize others in positions like that of a K-Pop idol, and in any other performance group that pushed to work hard like that.
Once You Jeong IN You Can't Jeong OUT I was trying my hardest to not break down... it’s just too painful. Jonghyun, Sulli, and every other idol who has suffered depression or have been mistreated deserved so much better. It’s been so long and things need to change.
Kris, Luhan and Tao treatment from Sm causing them to leave is so heartbreaking :( Those boys loved the other boys in Exo but sms greedy and bad treatment forced them to leave. I want to protect those boys so much I hate Sm grrrrrrrr
I'm glad that SM got a part two and that this focuses more on the more eye opening aspects of the company. It hurts to hear the passing of Jonghyun and Sulli but I'm glad they're in a better place. SM, in the beginning, did have heartfelt intentions when it came to be successful but as every company they cared more for money than the feelings of its artists. The Sulli Act has good intentions but it, by the grace of God it doesn't, will be forgotten in the long years...I feel like it's just to console fans in the short term. I hope this opens their eyes before we lose another bright person.
EXO's mistreatment isn't talked about enough within the kpop community an sm stans, many think that exo had it all which is not the case. Many don't know that exo were being payed with rice when they debuted, and during trainee they sometimes didn't have enough to eat. Not to mention now with their new project exo members kai and baekhyun are being overworked, and an article clearly stated that the exo members had to record their MAIN GROUPS ALBUM in between schedules for the other group. SM never promotes exo and they decided to release baekhyun, exo-sc albums during the month of their concert? Its just frustrating that when they had the chance to expand globally they didn't do it, and are now overworking their idols, with 12+ hour flights from korea to the us, in-between concert dates and preparing for their comeback. I expect nothing from sm, last year we only go 3 music shows for tempo and 2 for love shot. Pre- order started 2 weeks ago but they have yet to release album details, and just yesterday they released preorder links. If anyone wants to know more, i think any exol on twitter would be open to explain our frustration.
The amount of frustration I get when I see Even SM Stans are shitting On EXO when EXO is the most mistreated grp after F(X) and how SM is basically Blocking EXO from expanding globally is really something . And the way kpop community always pulls out big 3 privilege against EXO every time EXO achieve something like dude SM has literally blocked EXO from achieving anything and EXO had to worked to bone to stand where they are now. All other Sm Stans can callout SM for their mistreatments but god forbid if EXO-L complain abt Sm!!! You will see those MF SM Stans to come defending SM like Their lives are depending on it. The way I have seen so many NCTzens today coming from nowhere to suddenly defend Sm when EXO-L were trending Hashtags#EXODESEVEBETTER is disgu*ting. NCTzenns when NCT chinese member was just left on a rain for 10 mins, were calling EXO-L and all the kpop community to trend hashtags against SM mistreaments and to unsubscribe SM channel. NCtzens were saying that Sm has been mistreating older chinese member but this tradition cant go on anymore. But when EXO-L say that SM should stop mistreating EXO and give them proper promos and exposure like their other grps, Suddenly U get All the NCTzens saying SM has been always abondoning their older grps and nothing can be done abt it since its always has been like that and EXO-L need to shut up! Like how can you be so inhumane! These SM Stans are most hypocrite ppl I have ever seen.
Had to collect myself before watching this again smh Just feels like we haven't had a solid break since 2017... Thanks again for the hard work ♡ Take care Edit: also, thanks for caring to put trigger warnings. I had to take a breather a few times too, so it served as a good stopping point
seeing this video again after aespa’s debut (announced 1 week after the irene scandal) and red velvet being in a 1 year and half hiatus is so surreal… we all knew this would happen
red velvet was definitely a diversion, and i fully believe yeri was always meant to be part of red velvet but they held her back just to get something out there to distract from all the bad publicity. that’s not even what i’m all that mad about, though. i’m mad that they didn’t do Anything to protect yeri even though they knew that people weren’t going to like her joining the group after they had already debuted. they just let her get all of the hate and backlash and did nothing to stand up for her, and you can see it’s taken a toll on her ever since. also, when red velvet started to finally take off, sm completely threw f(x) into the garbage to run with red velvet. i whole-heartedly believe they gave red velvet a lot of songs meant for f(x) and just left f(x) to burn. i love both groups dearly, but that is really messed up. the line between what red velvet is and what f(x) was just keeps getting thinner and thinner and sm has completely replaced f(x) with red velvet and as much as i love red velvet, that’s really upsetting. all of it is just shady to me.
Actually the fact that Yeri didn't debut in 2014 bc of her age doesn't make sense to me... I've seen a lot of idols debuting even younger than her (at the time) but, if they say so... 😂
to be honest I’m kinda sad you didn’t mention their mistreatment of smrookies especially the girls. it’s rumored that their debut is coming but it must have been mentally taxing on Koeun and the other girls after all these years
u should know baekhyun talked about how sm didn't even provide enough food for exo when they were trainees and also even after debut, they had to fight for food, lay once said he fighted with another trainee for food, sm treated them terrible, and also when they debut sm didn't allow them to use mobile phone, and now all the rookies have their own mobile phones, there were many more thing we don't know. probably these trainees and rookies have better treatment now than before, because what happened to exo.
@@shuangshuangguo Yea I think some things might have changed and gotten better, but with the recent mismanagement of Winwin and the Chinese members, its giving me war flashbacks 😳
I appreciate the time and effort you put into this video, as well as all the other in this series. It must take a really long time to research, record the voiceover and edit. Thank you for your content, felt like remembering you that it is deeply cherished. Keep up the good work!
Dude I was in South Korea in may of 2014. I remember after kris left. People where having a meltdown and this happened so close after the Sewol disaster it ducked so bad.
They mistreated their new girl group, they said they would debut in 2017, then 2018 and NOW in 2020... Some of the members who are in SMROOKIES have been training even before EXO debuted... I’m tired of SM
SM has a track record with that. They always say they're going to debut somebody or some group and it's get pushed back, or people get stuck. Like Johnny, he was training before EXO debuted as well.
Honestly how mentally unsettling for the idols when members are being added and replaced left right and centre 🙈 when are entertainment companies going to stop using idols like they’re expendable
Whilst we can’t prove whether SM was the cause of the suicides, what makes me sick is that they were not part of any solution. Instead, they neglected their idols and therefore Jonghyun and Sulli were not given any help with their problems. SM live in an outdated industry. We now live in a world where mental illnesses with Korean Idols are getting more awareness and they are starting to get treatment like with JYP. Treat your idols well.
I dont understand SM... why cant they just treat all of their artists the same way? Fairly? They are human beings too... they have mental heath issues and feelings. Artists are humans too! SM pls. PLS treat your artists like humans and fairly. Feed them the perfect amount of food, let them have their own opinion and paths, let them do what they want to do, what they want to say. Respect your artists. They worked so hard for this, yet you still dont treat them right. SM have you learned your lesson from Jonghyun and Sulli’s case? Why do we need someone who took their own lives to finally realize? Actually have you realized? They need help. They have depression. They’re sick. Treat them well pls. And for us... ya’ll haters, pls stop the hate comments. Hating on an idol wont make you rich, wont make you healthy, wont make you live longer, wont make you look pretty/handsome. Think about what you comment twice. Just because you dislike an idol, doesn’t mean you have to hate on them. I get it. I get it that people have their own opinion, but dont be too selfish! Be careful with it! Doesn’t mean that you dislike an idol, you have to hate on them! But then only hyping the idols you stan, an protecting them, causing fanwar, but you, yourself are a hater? Especially when your comment made someone took their own LIFE! Its not like you could buy a new life! It means that YOU’VE killed someone. Sulli and Jonghyun didn’t commit suicide. Society KILLED them. And now when there are news that they pass away, you’ve JUST realized? And now you felt guilty, just NOW?! Gosh. Why bully someone? What did Sulli ever done to you? Nothing. She tried her best. EVERY idol tried their best. If you’re an idol, you’d felt it. Just pls stop with the hate comments. You wont know that one word you said, even just a short phrase, it might hurt someone. It could be both physically and mentally. Sorry if theres any wrong grammar. I just typed it, and didn’t read it again to check any wrong grammar cuz im lazy 💀 and sorry for this unnecessarily long comment. But yeah. Any artists/idols out there, fighting! Us fans, fighting! SM, learn your lessons! Actually not just to SM, but any other companies too. Luv ya!
The fact SM is still allowed to do what they please breaks my heart. After Sulli and Jonghyun's deaths, I've been so worried for the other artists under SM's well being.
Is this a reupload? I watched this earlier so I'm not sure but I do remember that this video was pretty sad for me considering you talked about 2 major idols in my life I looked up to before..
Yes, I re-uploaded it because there were some issues with the video editing wise and I wanted to correct them since I didn't feel completely happy with the video. That's the only reason why I re-uploaded it.
I did want to skip the trigger bits but remembering the hard work both idols that i looked up to and having shared birthday with one of them was what kept me watching the full video. Thank u for the trigger warning as I needed a breather esp with depression included
it still hasn't set in how she's gone. i remember watching her smile and sing in the mvs when i was a teen. i remember thinking how she's one of the prettiest girls i've ever seen. cannot imagine how people who personally knew her must be feeling.
Thanks for the video. I feel like there is a lot more to say about NCT, though I understand that it's already such a lengthy work. Kun was indeed added to NCT 2018, but then would only be in a chinese version of a NCT U song that was not promoted, other than the 18 member song Black on Black (where he was a background dancer). SM made vague hints and promises of a chinese group, but left fans in the dark for a whole year. The delay with "NCT Vision", only to debut WayV with a cover of a NCT 127 song... Kun finally has something to do, so that's good. It is worth being remarked that ever since WayV debuted in January, NCT members no longer are seen in public with WayV members. But the thing is, there hasn't been a single statement on whether Winwin is still in NCT 127 or not. All of a sudden, new NCT merch has been erasing Lucas, Kun and him from their selection (like keychans and STRAWS or whatever they sell). WayV could just simply be separated from NCT, and yet, because of the pushing of confused fans their official color was announced to be GREEN, like NCT's, and their fan name something like "Weizenies" (similar to NCTzens) despite 1- Red being more culturally appropriated for their concept, as well as being seen in official stages right before the announcement and 2- The fan name isn't even something that can be properly written in chinese. Members had to ask fans to stop fighting in their weibo accounts, the day the information was out. NCTzens have been left to fight among each other. Also worth mentioning: The 2018 full group promotions had a very strenuous dangerous choreography, and yet members had to keep promoting it despite many of them had just ended promotions for their own sub units. Taeyong and Mark are known to be overworked, beind added to every lineup possible of songs. During Black on Black promotions, underage member Jaemin had back problems and yet was still BOTTOM OF A PYRAMID THEY DID DANCING. In very few perfomances, he would not do it. NCT 127 gets promoted, but NCT Dream are relatively put aside despite being really good at getting wins in shows and having so much potential. While 127 is promoted, many members are just there... jobless... when NCT literally has a unit made for any possible lineup arrangement. Why do they not promote NCT U more often? They just don't care, because now 127 is being pushed into the american market with all they can. Being a NCTzen for the past two years has been really stressful, and with the news of new SM groups debuting next year I might just have to drop them from my ult list since I know life won't be great during my last highschool year lmao This didn't even get to touch on why SuperM was such a controversy, but it's okay.
it's like all of the Idols of SM entertainment have depression and end like sulli or Jonghyun ( I don't mean to disrespect them). Please, they need to STOP!!!!!
Please, do not risk your own mental health at the cost of this video.

That really bothers me too

@@emilyarana9331 ikr!! I've been waiting f(x) come back forever! And now it's rumored that SM uses songs meant for f(x) to Red Velvet. And every time f(x) members are asked about the comeback, they just say it didn't work out. But SM can definitely make cb happen, if they want to. F(x) had so much potential, SM just couldn't promote them right
SNSD
four members leaving the group, the group has been around for 12 years maybe? yet they still refuse to let them disband, even though they no longer are nation's girl group, letting Taeyeon come back like once a year ,but doing nothing about the rest of the members, and don't get me started on how badly timed Taeyeon's come back was, literally weeks after her good friend's passing...
Their only and ONLY priority is MONEY.
Rokhaya it shows. I’m not an expert in SM but an SM stan told me that, SM used to treat their artists better when they had the old CEO, around the time of TVXQ and Girls Generation. Their current CEO and staff need to be investigated for mistreating artists.
sm eyes money over humans
juli828 ewww that’s even worse than I thought. I thought SM took 95% of album revenue but they actually take more if the albums don’t sell enough. I know the Korean government have made slave like contracts illegal. I hope SM’s (and other companies’) contracts are much better these days.
I miss Sulli and Jonghyun...
It's not entirely their fault, but SM really is the worst regardless.

I was gonna say the exact same thing !
i agree. it sounded so forced.
R.I.P
Sulli meant nothing to them.
I confused as to sm wrote a essay for Jonghyun but Sulli got done dirty . The double standard.
The way some companies treat female idols compared to male idols is harsh and mean
Devyn Brandon that’s what I was thinking
No.
Both Sulli and Jonghyun were left in the darkness. They issued it because fans were literarely infront of the SM building and were out for blood
Cătălina Ștefan thank you for posting correct info.
maybe sm can't break into the chinese market as well as they want because the chinese fans know damn well how sm treats the chinese kids
But still a lot of chinese go to sm for audition, that is because they know sm idols are well known, and even they r not well treated, after they debut in sm they will be successful in China.
right isnt it super ironic that chinese sm trainees/artists are treated like pure shit but they still keep getting more trainees like whysfhdjdk

"Its almost Seems like SM doesn't want "EXO" to succeed", Couldn't have said better👏
It's sad, as fans we want to see more content of them but we only don't get it
I honestly am not surprised. SM has a lot of talented idols that can write music. But they don't want them to show it. So that way when the idols contract is up, they idol thinks no one wants their songwriting talents. That's sad that SM controls their artist that hard
which is sad considering EXO is one of the most successful K-Pop groups right now
Because EXO's era for them is finished. They got to promote NCT and make them another money making group like EXO. Now, EXO only had 6 members active and their comeback dont really have hype. The MV's just posted in RUclips then their job is done. It's no wonder the fandom is decreasing, choosing more active group with atleast good songs.

I will actually murder the CEO like sis red velvet can’t be in the dungeon it’s literally their biggest group

Facts.
thank you for this comment. I really wanted to say the same thing, but you said it perfectly.
Putting Jonghyun in this was really necessary and the creator herself didn't really criticise SM for anything, just stated the facts

i’m scared...
I imagine Winwin suing them tbf, lots to tolerate from sm
I heard some chinese members are thinking about leaving alreary, maybe it's winwin

Lay situation is not really SMs fault. I am pretty sure that managment would sell their kidneys to have Lay in group but THAAD happened.
Zna Sve What happened? For me it just seems like sm don’t treat their chinese idols fairly, it happens with nct aswell.
@@ellen.may12 you have a link here www.quora.com/Why-didn-t-Lay-sing-in-the-last-comeback-of-EXO and I have to add that Lay got tons of hate when he post something with EXO. So Lay can't come to Korea, neither EXO can come to the China. Sad situation.
Your statement I have nothing much to say but the last part, why tho? you can see they really enjoy superm and just Kai being in the same group as Taemin. Overworked maybe but I still think they had a choice and they wanted to jump out at this chance to break into the western market more?
@@cherrycherryzoe6617 at the time they were promoting obsession, superms debut, an exo tour and baeks solo all within a month or two so i was worried for them. and i was annoyed that SM never promoted exo internationally but suddenly they make superm to appeal to a western audience but the execution felt off and all over the place for me. i didnt word my comment very well and i dont even remember writing it haha.

Should I even mention the current SM Rookie girls who haven't been seen in forever?
Sm is planning to debut a girl group, so why would they? They’re probably training for their debut
@Itzy Everglow it's not that, the SM Rookies was a huge project until RV and NCT debuted. The leftover girls are rarely seen bc Sm doesn't prioritize SMR anymore which doesn't make sense. They should have some spotlight but SM can't manage properly
After i watch this video, i realize that k-netz is extremely scary. Why they hate idol when they gained some weight or post something that really doesn't metter. Even they hated k-idol that date with another k-idol. Like why?? Why they hate something like that and make people feel insecure.

OngHwanHwi's stan If you’re talking about the part with Wendy’s birthday, Red Velvet was on their North American tour. They performed in Ontario on Wendy’s birthday, and Wendy’s from Ontario.
WayV isn't part of NCT. You will never see WayV in SMtown.

The author did really well being respectful about everything and I really don’t see where you’re getting these ideas.

looking at what has happened in the past, i am so scared of how nct’s future will turn out. i’ve been a huge fan of all of them for about two years, and i don’t want any of them to be hurt or mistreated but it seems like history is repeating. i hope wayv will not be mistreated and that sicheng will get better treatment, because i cannot bear to see the members being separated and all 🥺
the “you did well” at the end hit me in a way i was not expecting
SM is shit, I am waiting for them. BUT SM...did nothing. 😑😑😑
SM wanna start new groups but they can't even keep up with "old" groups.
*Dang I ready for you to Talk about Johnny’s mistreatment*
hana nope he’s actually mistreated like winwin but if not worse than winwin, Johnny never got lines not even when he debuted (yet he’s confident with his Korean), he never gets any screen time , And Even when they had their US promotions and had an English song they never gave Johnny any lines , And when they had a music video reaction for The Superhuman MV he asked where he was in the music video , and he didn’t even Debut with superM which markets the US when Johnny Himself is American. At this point Johnny is basically only used for translation at this point.
hana also a lot of nctzens say he isn’t mistreated just because He has Johnnys communication Center and *Had* Nct night night (A podcast he did with another member jaehyun) but yeah I think that was it I think there is more but I’ll think of it later
hana no worries it’s fine!
Another reason Red Velvet was rushed into the spotlight was due to the whole Sulli break during the Red Light stages.
RIP Jonghyun and Sulli!
The way I started crying all over again-
Once You Jeong IN You Can't Jeong OUT I was trying my hardest to not break down... it’s just too painful.

But when EXO-L say that SM should stop mistreating EXO and give them proper promos and exposure like their other grps, Suddenly U get All the NCTzens saying SM has been always abondoning their older grps and nothing can be done abt it since its always has been like that and EXO-L need to shut up! red velvet was definitely a diversion, and i fully believe yeri was always meant to be part of red velvet but they held her back just to get something out there to distract from all the bad publicity. that’s not even what i’m all that mad about, though. i’m mad that they didn’t do Anything to protect yeri even though they knew that people weren’t going to like her joining the group after they had already debuted. they just let her get all of the hate and backlash and did nothing to stand up for her, and you can see it’s taken a toll on her ever since. also, when red velvet started to finally take off, sm completely threw f(x) into the garbage to run with red velvet. i whole-heartedly believe they gave red velvet a lot of songs meant for f(x) and just left f(x) to burn. i love both groups dearly, but that is really messed up. the line between what red velvet is and what f(x) was just keeps getting thinner and thinner and sm has completely replaced f(x) with red velvet and as much as i love red velvet, that’s really upsetting. all of it is just shady to me.
Yeri was always in the original line up of red velvet. I believe she was the third member that was decided on.

I sincerely believe sm to be the shadiest/worst company out of them all. I think what's happening inside sm is a lot darker than we think or imagine.

But yeah.
Being a NCTzen for the past two years has been really stressful, and with the news of new SM groups debuting next year I might just have to drop them from my ult list since I know life won't be great during my last highschool year lmao
This didn't even get to touch on why SuperM was such a controversy, but it's okay.
it's like all of the Idols of SM entertainment have depression and end like sulli or Jonghyun ( I don't mean to disrespect them). Please, they need to STOP!!!!!
