Join me in this video as I Upgrade my mill to accept a stepper motor which will be used to power feed the table movement. This has been an upgrade I've been wanting to get done for a while now, but with the introduction of the new mini mill fixture plate product I am selling this has now become an important upgrade .

Looks good. I have a Enco version of that mill and made my power feed also. I however use both hand wheels regularly and had to retain both with the power unit. I installed a plate to the bolts on the screw end plat that moved the drive rear ward. Then a chain and sprockets drive to the hand wheel. The handwheel sprocket idles on the hub of the hand wheel until needed then tighten a thumb screw and the power unit turns the hand wheel.

Love the videos Joe, I have a decent small woodshop and am thinking of purchasing a lathe and mill to augment my skills. How easy is it to obtain small amounts of metal? If you don’t mind me asking where do you obtain yours?

Nice job Joe. I'm currently in the process of doing a very similar setup. but will be using a timing belt. mine will be permanently connected. Hoping there wont be too much drag with the hand crank. Would you use an Arduino I'm thinking of adding a rapid button.

Hi Steve yeah the timing belt is a good option as if you size them right you could get some good torque multiply. I’ll be honest with you when it comes to the electronics I don’t have much experience other than what I have done so far so I’ll have to look up an Adruino and see what it is.

Hi Wayne I’ll be honest with you I haven’t done any more. It is a project I want to get back on just trying to find the time.
