WIZARD! The Z3 airbag light is super easy to fix. Someone jammed a bunch of crap behind the passenger seat and when they pushed the seat back it crushed all the seat sensor wires. Go over the passenger seat wiring and you will probably solve your problem. If its not the passenger seat wiring, then check the driver's seat wiring.

I'd be all over that Z3 if it were a manual and still had nice original paint. The tan leather is so much nicer on hot days vs black which most Z3's came with. While I prefer lighter colors on convertibles(heat thing again), that purple looks great in this horrendous monotone grey future we find ourselves in. Plus that BMW straight six just straight rips, sounds awesome, great flexible powerband, smooth as silk. Had an inline six in my Lexus SC300, just something about that inline six layout is magical.

I have a friend whose late uncle was something of a hoarder... he kept most of his cars at an acreage west of town, and it got to the point the county commission ordered him to clean it up. He actually bought another acreage over the county line and moved the vehicles that were still mobile over there, but the other county had been forewarned. Long story short, he had to auction them all - but most were only good for parts by then. After the cars were sold off or picked over, the county brought in a crusher to take care of the rest.

Guess that is the fate of all those who have the "park it in the tree line, I'll get to it later" mindset. Then some other guy (another hoarder) comes along and declares that to be a "honeypot" and all kinds of people pick through the piles. What nobody will admit is that all the cars are rusted out piles of junk after sitting outdoors for a long time. When you see trees growing up through those hulks of metal, those cars are far past their sell dates. If you think stashing a car in an old shack or barn is a good idea, the only good that comes is to the vermin that transform the car into the rat or mice hotel that the car becomes.

The easiest car I worked on was my 1989 Ford Mustang. It was a 2.3 liter hatchback. Unlike an Audi, you didn't need to rip the whole front end off to do things.
One problem was the small clutch cable having the crimped ball would pull off. I kept a spare in the glove box and I only had to take my shoe off and wedge under the clutch pedal to swap it out. Five minute fix.
One thing that never was resolved was the electric rad fan.
When it was right at freezing and with high humidity the fan would cut in and turn off rapidly. Multiple times per second until the relay would burn out.
Three different dealerships looked at it for eighteen times changing out the motor, computer and anything else. No luck.
I ended up putting a rocker switch between the dash and the door to cut the power to the motor for winter driving. Motor ran so cold that I ended up putting cardboard in front and behind the rad to get some heat.

I don't like the 'hardcore' Mustang and Camero models - I get it, Mrs. Wizard! They're cars that are meant to be fun, not so serious. When you stick as much horsepower as the Cobra has.....yea, it can move! But it loses a lot of the car's charm. Save the higher horsepower for the Corvette or exotic.....cars that have the suspension, brakes, and design to handle that much power.

MW forgot to point out the storage container on the back shelf. I can recommend a set of headers, sports Cats and a cat back system. It really changes the drive ability and performance of this car without impacting reliability. This is easy to do as the existing system is in 2 pieces per side with a common rear muffler. You will probably need new spark plug tube seals as well. Sticky button issues with radio are common as well as foam deterioration inside HVAC even if it is a garage queen.

Mrs Wizard impresses me as a woman who has some mechanical knowledge and likes to take care of her vehicles, which in my experience is rare. Hopefully Hoovie will enjoy the the GT 500 after Wizard fixed it up.

Some people feel a few bumpy parts in the road and don't think anything about it. Meanwhile, the tire separated at the sidewall, and they don't hear the rim start to mill down cause the music is too loud.

I love the speed yellow on the Boxster. I do question all the yellow overspray near the front bumper on the undercarriage as well as red overspray near the rear wheels. I'd have Porsche do a workup on this vehicle and see if it all checks out as far as what she really is, and a carfax report if you haven't before you bought it. Something smells fishy. But it is a nice looking car.

I owned for 3 years a 2002 XJR like your 2001 it was my dream come true and did not break down or disappoint, the only bad part was im a big guy and the brake lever would dig into my leg.
