When a server is new, and before all the easy Kafra options, you had to trek through Mount Mjolnir, dodging the Argos, past four whole maps, and your reward was this beautiful town with its peaceful music, and of course, Clock Tower. :-)
It's crazy how GOOD the music is in a game almost 20 years old. Compared to other games that loop after 30sec we have over 2min of unique beautiful music
The only MMO I've played that comes close to this is Final Fantasy XIV Online. Both RO and FFXIV have a huge variety of musical styles, great composition and playing, and just darned enjoyable music.

I bought the hype, and worked hard to survive the gauntlet to get there, blowing through all my consumables. Know what I saw when I got there? There were NPCs saying things like, "Welcome to Al De Baran! Thanks for your interest in Ragnarok Online. This area isn't finished yet. Bye bye!" That was when I quit RO and never looked back.
Aldebaran back in the days were a hang out spot for the elite guild, in the 1st year of RO, all the aura players from amazing guild gather here, i still remember in Indonesian RO at Loki server, this were the spot for guild like PanzeR, GodFather, BaelNorn, Smurf, oNe, RaTu, RUSH, MvP
i was on the malaysian server around 20 years ago before it went into subscription based model (i think it may have been called Iris). Back then the ultimate guild was called Legion and it had a striking blue emblem. Being part of this guild meant it came with a bit of notoriety because they're seen as the best players in the server. It's small things like this I miss seeing in today's MMO.
Good old times. It start with iris and later penril as a second server. A third and fourth server later appear, and iris become so crowded that they split into iris 1 and 2. And the good old days just stop afterwards. Players decreased and they started merging server until eventually there is only one server remaining before the original publisher gameflier close down all of them eventually. While they did host another malaysia/singapore server, it is no longer the same
