I'm originally from Powell. I liked living there and everything she said was true. It's big but feels small especially once you get off the main roads. Emory Rd at 75 had a big boom in population in the 80s and has continued to grow. But the older longtime residents there still wave when you go by. It's the kind of place where the neighbors know eachother. She mentioned Broadacres briefly. I always wanted to live there when I was younger. I do not live in Powell anymore. I moved away 7 years ago and I don't get too homesick missing my family and friends because the internet makes keeping in touch so easy. But what I do miss is getting a big fat cheeseburger combo at Humphammers Market & Deli on Clinton Hwy and cruising the backroads with the sunroof open. The only thing better than East TN in the spring is East TN in the fall.
I lived in Powell, Tennessee from 2007 to 2014. The first house I moved into was with my uncle for a few months and then I moved into a condo that is a 1994 home and on August 31, 2009, I moved into the BROADACRES neighborhood, and I lived in a home that was built in 1970 and renovated in 1990 which is 1,744 sq ft. I miss living there.
