    I somehow missed this video so I’m just watching it today. I wanted to say how much I admire you. Your last Q&A was so thoughtful and authentic. It spoke to how mammoth this task is and possibly overwhelming at times. It made me admire you even more. Your home will be such a warm and attractive home for both of you, your children and your grandchildren. Hang in there. Every hemp block is building your family stronger from the inside out. You’re amazing and your husband is funny, even if he can’t find the right English word. His eyes tell it all. From Oklahoma. Kathy

    Seeing the floor area clear of the tools and insulation really gives a better perspective of the house. Floorspace and area are growing by leaps and bounds. You've done so much work in the house and now the results are paying off. The beams and windows help to keep original charm. It's such a beautiful house and farm and you are doing a wonderful job of bringing it back to life. Best regards to you all!

    The good thing about living where you are going to be living (if that makes sense) is that you can pivot from one project to the next and not have to worry about forgetting to bring something from your prior rental.
    How is the vegetable garden going? I've already had to harvest 6 big batches of cucumbers to make dill pickles, so much parsley, lovage, sorrel, kale, and tomatoes have been consistent but now the peppers are starting to come in. What is each of your family's favorite vegetable from the garden this year?

    The awful thing about any task, like laying those hemp blocks, is that when you start, you are not that good at it. Then as you work, you get better and better. And by the time you finish, you are flippin amazing at it. And then you never have to use that top-tier proficiency again.

      I'm fairly certain they didn't want to bring more materials in before clearing some out. Like Marina said, there is plenty to work on, and I think switching keeps it interesting. No reason to work to a Gantt chart when you're doing it all yourself.

    • @_PJW_
      @_PJW_ 2 месяца назад

      @@maura423 Well, I am fairly certain that had nothing to do with it.
      Ordering materials usually implies lead time. No big deal, but it may result in you not being able to complete a task.

    • @maura423
      @maura423 2 месяца назад +1

      @@_PJW_ it has everything to do with it 😉
      They didn't want to store extra materials. They are willing to wait for the lead time. They don't need to complete this particular job right now, because there are many other things they can do while they wait for materials. I'm saying it's no accident or mistake, it was a choice, and a perfectly legitimate one. They're doing fine with managing the project.

    How are you going to prevent a cold bridge where the metal beams make contact with the cold exterior walls. A cold bridge will cause condensation around and on the beams in winter. It may also compromise your help insulation. Do your research on the issue of cold bridging.

      Hi, please find here the technical characteristics of blocks: www.isohemp.com/sites/default/files/fichiers/ih_catalogue2023_uk_web.pdf
      We used 12cm blocks but also 5 -7 cm gap (filled with loose hemp) between the wall and the insulation. We miscalculated - we thought it will be 3 cm, but it turned out to be 5-7 cm. The thermal conductivity of hemp insulation is 0,071 W/mK.
