Nice tree house. I do have to say when I was a boy the best part of my tree house my friends and I built was scrounging, "AKA" stealing lumber from our dad's and building it. We had water, snow ball and pine cone fights in it. When we got into high school we built a small log cabin with a fire place, wood stove and old furniture we found abandoned along roads. We had it hid above our homes on a mountain with fresh water from a spring 25 yards away. We stayed in it every week end year round where we hunted, trapped and lived a care free life. I had a great life growing up in Montana in the 60's and 70's but those care free days are long gone like so many other things today.
your land is magnificent cody... the view from that tree house blew me away! i have been quite busy with life lately... you know school and extra cirricular things, so i havent watched much but jack has grown up a lot since i last viewed you! your videos make me smile. you are a great person and have done many many great things. thanks for the awesome videos man!
I get a kick out of seeing how much you all love and care for each other. Its awesome and I know you realise how fortunate you are to have what you do. Keep it up mate.
Drew Uth Depends If it is Mr. Wranglestar doing it to his wife or me putting my gf to walk up a ladder. But yeah I agree with you there.. A camera is unnecessary :)
This brings back childhood memories. Looking back at it today I am really grateful for that my parents let me unfold and build treehouses. Although I remember my father put his foot down when I started building in the top of a 15 meter high tree... Kids need to be encouraged to spend more time outdoors. I´m born in 1992 and I remember that most of the kids in my neighborhood had never held a hammer by age 10. I can only presume it´s even worse today.
a urinal standpipe tied into your garden irrigation system, a hammock, a 2 way radio, surplus binoculars or telescope, a pellet gun and orders authorizing illumination of targets in the garden, a zip line or a firefighters pole for rapid evacuation.
I love all of you videos! I am planning to build a treehouse cabin for me and my wife on our larping site, and all of your videos are very helpful! You have a wonderful family, I hope I can achieve something like that one day. Have a great day all of you!
I'm 62 years old and I grew up without all the "Safety Sally" garbage. I still have two arms, two hands, ten fingers, two legs, two feet, ten toes, two eyes, two ears, no missing teeth, and a perfectly functioning brain, thank you very much! I do believe in being safe, but with that comes with being smart! Children should be taught to be safe, not placed in a protective bubble! Let them be kids! Cody, I'm a new subscriber and with what little I've seen, I think you and Mrs W are doing a great job of raising Jack! Keep up the good work and I pray that God Blesses you and your wonderful family! gary from 'East Texas'
wow, Jack is a fast learner, remember what I said Jack, the type of person he is, active imagination, things that are sacred, his creativity and his thirst for knowledge.
You both were kinda right. The way Mrs. Wranglerstar tied off was right for the first 2-3 turns. The way you did it was right to keep it from coming un done. Your knot would probably be fine with that light bucket. But when tying off a boat, yours won't be able to be untied if pressure from the boat is pulling agains you. For example, let's say you tied off a boat at high tide. Then the tide went out and the boat was hanging from the line. Your knot will never be able to be untied. But if your knot was over her knot, you can unlock yours and then release hers slowly.
Looks really great! No doubt someone has already mentioned, but the way I was taught was a bunch of figure 8s around the cleat, finished off with last loop turned over so the trailing end comes out from underneath, effectively locking it in place.
Hi Wranglerstars, I am new on the channel and I don't know anything about construction, or building a tree house, although I spent a good part of my childhood hanging out in one. What a wonderful place for a young writer to spend his time looking at the most beautiful view ever. I can see young Jack reading Mark Twain, and writing his own short stories. Robert Lewis Stevenson poems are waiting to be read. Now for the good stuff, I wonder if the angle of the stairs is a bit too steep. Can the angle be changed a tad, and then connected to a short second set which would bring the climber directly into the hood of the house. Second comment. Next year, maybe put all the great veggies in the green house, Heating, cooling for year round growing.
"What do you think of the dumbwaiter" I was really hoping Jack would say "It's dumb" because that would have been funny. Also it is a shame it isn't a little bigger. You could fit insulation into the walls, dry wall them then put a fake log stove in there with a halogen heater in it. Then Jack could sit up there to read and study in the winter months. Look out over the snow covered forest while not having to wear thick gloves and a coat. As for internal décor. Nothing beats a bean bag for lounging while reading.
So great to see that you're having a really fun time with your family, having a squirt gun battle with Jack and joking and having fun with Mrs. W. Its those things that I see that I love about your channel and all the videos that you do.
The proper use of the cleat: one or two figure-8s, then the reverse loop on the last part only. It takes surprisingly little to hold a great weight. That cleat was a fine idea. That's what I use for tie-downs on my truck that is like yours. Also enjoyed the aerial view of the garden.
I think for a table you could use a 1x 8 hinged on the wall to save space. I have been watching the tiny house shows and they have some cool ideas to save space. Great video series.
I enjoyed the whole series Cody. Slyly, I am suprised you didn't rub the whole house down with Boiled Linseed oil! Like you, I live here in the PNW and a homestead of my own, (at the foot of Mt.Yourhorses) and share your love of God, craftsmanship and quality of effort. Thank you for sharing!
Jack (Cody) why not get a nice comfortable beanbag.. with a little side table for your drink.. you can move the beanbag anywhere you like.. on your little balcony or in the corner.. and above the door a few shelfs for books.. with a bungycoord to hold them there IF so the wind doesn't get a hold of them..
Turned out, beautifully! Jack's lucky guy! Just a couple of suggestions. First, some holes drilled into the stairs stringers for hand holds probably would be good for smaller hands, or maybe galvanized pipe as a railing would make it easier to get up and down. Second, If the pulley for the dumbwaiter was larger like those used with clothes lines, it would be easier to pull. I'd be surprised if you didn't have one around the shop or barn.
Fun note for ya; on the cleat, you where both right. It depends on what you're doing with the line. if there is little tension on the line and you want it secure, you do the loops like you did, however, if you use those loops under high tension (i.e. didn't give enough line for high tide or maybe a lot of weight in the bucket) the line will pinch into its self, and you'll have to cut it. Under HIgh tension the figure 8's on the cleat have the benefit of never pinching & being able to use the cleat as a brake, giving more control of the line. in this case, I'd say there is no wrong way! Do what feels right. P.s. The pully you have is the pully you use. It'd be a hell of a world if we all had the money to buy the prefect tool for every job we had wouldn't it? lol.
both knots were sort of right, though the quickest easy way to do it is OXO. as simple as it sounds, you would come under the right arm from the outside, do a full turn round the base (under left arm then back under right arm) then do an x over the top, then another O around the base. locks it off so it won't undo, yet is quick and easy! :)
Just enlisted in our US NAVY. Aviation Electronics. Ill let you know in a few months if that knot was correct or not! The Tree house turned out Awesome!
Awesome series! I was really interested in seeing the solar panel instillation. Amy chance we can get an update video of what it looks like now? Thanks!
Was there ever any update on this with the windows, door and solar system being installed? Would be cool to see the fully furnished and completed project. Awesome work as always was a pleasure living vicariously through this whole series and reminds me of the tree house my dad built when I was Jacks age.
@wranglerstar You have a beautiful family and relationship with Jack, "Mrs W" and Jesus. I love it seeing your relationship continuously grow with all three.
Seeing how the inside of the treehouse looks, I wondered if there are any ideas to insulate the treehouse and but in some boarding against it for a nicer inside finish and possibly a more winterized shelter?
You could blacksmith a "cage" to go over the top of the stairs making a kind of tunnel so kids couldn't fall backward off of them. It would give it a really cool look too.
The whole project came out really good. You should be proud of your accomplishments. Yeah, there are a few tweaks, but really, it's a great tree house.
zip line? bar fridge? tv? with an endless list of wranglerstar videos so mrs C could sit up there and watch them... at least until she subscribes of course.
On my boat I do it like Mrs Wranglestar about 3 times then I do like you for one loop. the loop is done with the tail on the inside of the loop so the cross over holds it in place. But I wasn't in the Navy, and I'm sure you'll get plenty of comments.
Ron Briz Do a "dead head" through the middle of the cleat for the bitter end. (so it will never fall to the ground) To cleat it off, figure eight the line around the cleat with the last twist of the figure eight going under itself.
Cody, how about some screen or something on those window openings, to keep most of the bugs and other critters out? And, personally speaking, I would reduce the counterbalance weight on that trapdoor, so that it self-closes by default. Other than that, it's a great thing you've done for your lad.
Tyrel Hanson Phoenix area. We're not moving anytime soon. Although I will have to address the tree house thing before the kids get too big. Maybe they will settle for a "club house".

Man the whole build turned out great!
Wow. Didn't thought that other yt woodworkers follows Cody. Happy surprise

Mrs. W on the way up the ladder "NO"- hahahaha. Dresses+ladders+cameras don't mix!
Drew Uth You caught that, :)
wranglerstar Sure did haha :) Delighted you responded! Great stuff, I love the Channel.
Drew Uth I think they mix very well.
micosan Shameful.
Drew Uth Depends If it is Mr. Wranglestar doing it to his wife or me putting my gf to walk up a ladder. But yeah I agree with you there.. A camera is unnecessary :)
I'm so glad you put that lock on the door I hate parents who don't give their kids privacy
Really.. young kids should have their privacy! In this day and age? I'd rethink that one!!
This brings back childhood memories. Looking back at it today I am really grateful for that my parents let me unfold and build treehouses. This is an example of great parenting.
+Hvac103 Thank you
did you put windows on ?
It is great parenting though, just be warned though
Wow! What a view! I live in eastern n.c, And I have never seen such a beautiful view.. Ever. Hope you like your new tree house jack!
a urinal standpipe tied into your garden irrigation system, a hammock, a 2 way radio, surplus binoculars or telescope, a pellet gun and orders authorizing illumination of targets in the garden, a zip line or a firefighters pole for rapid evacuation.
What an amazing treehouse to fit an amazing family. Have fun Jack!
You can be proud of a great project and even more proud of a wonderful family moment! Thanks for bringing us along.
That view tho... wow!!! That deck offers the perfect purchase to keep that garden area secure.
Love to see all the laughter in your family. Your smiles are contagious!!!
You are right about those Navy stairs/ladders.
I love all of you videos! I am planning to build a treehouse cabin for me and my wife on our larping site, and all of your videos are very helpful! You have a wonderful family, I hope I can achieve something like that one day. Have a great day all of you!
Wranglestar this is the most awesome thing ever! Really fun that you made episodes of you building this treehouse!
You weren't kidding when you said (around 3:00) that he has the best view. That's an awesome view.
One badass tree house. Wait a couple years and he's going to bring some ladies in there !
***** Whats wrong with buying your son or daughter a gun ? or a knife
***** ya, thats a bummer
Not Jack, he's been raised a good christian.
+291xMac or just a good southern boy
That is so cool, I love that view!
Room for a hammock?
Perfect for reading with that perfect view and easy to put away to make more space for friends!
That might very well be the best view from a young boys tree house in the history of young boys tree houses... Stunning.
I'm 62 years old and I grew up without all the "Safety Sally" garbage. I still have two arms, two hands, ten fingers, two legs, two feet, ten toes, two eyes, two ears, no missing teeth, and a perfectly functioning brain, thank you very much!

Gotta love that Mount Fuji view!
I love that mountain view, what's the real name of that mountain? I believe Mount Fuji is in Japan, LOL.
This treehouse will always be so great to look back on. Great family!

wranglerstar is to modern homesteading, as Bob Ross was to painting.
Joe B What a happy little homestead
wranglerstar Such a happy little chainsaw, milling up happy little trees into happy little full dimension lumber.
As a tugboater, the way Mrs. W did it was correct. I would of led the line on the other side of the cleat though.
sailorman1011 I liked Cody's technique too! Decisions, decisions...
My kids are grown and on their own, I appreciate you sharing your life with us. Thank you and God bless.

jack looks to be pleased with the tree house.
what a lucky boy. A treehouse with a few of Mt. Kilamanjaro.
This video should be shown in every parenting training.
So great to see that you're having a really fun time with your family, having a squirt gun battle with Jack and joking and having fun with Mrs. W. Its those things that I see that I love about your channel and all the videos that you do.
you guys are the best parents ever i would love to have parents like you guys are ;)
Well played on following Mrs. W. up the ladder. Tree house looks good. It really came together.
The tree house looks great! Can't wait to see what Jack does with the interior.

Do a 0800 figure on that cleat like we do in our sail boats!!! . Fantastic work Cody!!!!.
I just got a pallet wedged in a tree and some camo netting lol
Great tree house !! You are correct on having the best view on the property :-)
sweet. hey what about a table or seats that just flip out from between the studs and fold up flush for room conservation. simple and practical
I think for a table you could use a 1x 8 hinged on the wall to save space. I have been watching the tiny house shows and they have some cool ideas to save space. Great video series.
Lit up like a light bulb when he saw it. I think a fireman's pole is in order.
Amazing job building the tree house Cody.
I enjoyed the whole series Cody. Slyly, I am suprised you didn't rub the whole house down with Boiled Linseed oil!
Like you, I live here in the PNW and a homestead of my own, (at the foot of
Mt.Yourhorses) and share your love of God, craftsmanship and quality of effort. Thank you for sharing!
get him a huge bean bag!!!
I love listening to the two completely different conversations between the mom and dad. Little cohesion
oh, might be a good idea to add rails on latter.
Looks great!
lol love the good husband wife interaction. Reminds me so much of my wife and I.
Excellent finished product though Cody!!!
You might consider making a custom shelf to go next to that floor opening. (floor to ceiling?)
A hammock makes a great chair or bed to read in. It also takes up very little space.
Lego man again at 8:04... Is there an inside joke or something I missed from a previous video about Lego guys? Keep up the great work Cody!
***** Yes you are certainly missing out on something, Search and you will find,
Its like an easter egg he is in a lot of videos like the tools video he was on the table saw...a dangerous place for such a little guy
wranglerstar Ok, now I am really curious...I know what I will be doing this afternoon! haha, thanks again!
***** It's funny I saw a Stihl 066 at 8:04!
Turned out, beautifully! Jack's lucky guy!

Can confirm.
wow , Tree house came out awesome !!!!
oh, very cute house with beautiful view...
Awesome treehouse and views

Love the banter between Mr and Mrs. W.
Cut the load in half by adding a pulley on the bucket end along with a pulley on the tree branch.
The tree house is looking great. I will be sad when it is all complete and there are no more videos on it. What a great place for Jack to hang out.
LOVE it. Hi Jack you little Cutie.
the first thing the kid said was book shelves.... What a good kid.
What a view! How is the book coming along?
This video made my day! great work on the treehouse
Just enlisted in our US NAVY. Aviation Electronics. Ill let you know in a few months if that knot was correct or not! The Tree house turned out Awesome!

lol jack forgets that he will be getting stronger every day
@wranglerstar You have a beautiful family and relationship with Jack, "Mrs W" and Jesus. I love it seeing your relationship continuously grow with all three.
Hmmm I wonder why she went up first...
Also I dont see any design flaws, I see a learning curve in action.

WHAT ARE THOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSE

This is inspirational

Well, I let my kids see this, and now a tree house is their primary focus in life. We don't have an appropriate tree, so now they want to move.
***** Yes, true.
Gun Sense (drmaudio) Where are you moving from, and where are you moving to?
Tyrel Hanson Phoenix area. We're not moving anytime soon. Although I will have to address the tree house thing before the kids get too big. Maybe they will settle for a "club house".
Hope it works out! :)
Gun Sense (drmaudio) put it on stilts, almost the same, sorta, a little
3:23 is when my mouth dropped
Where's this place? You got an amazing view over there buddy!
the stairs remind me of the ones in guard towers at Abu Ghraib. Nice job looks good.
If your tying to a cleat, it's always best to do a round turn, then do a couple of figure of eights, will never go undone. But if your fancy like me, I like to cool/cheese it to make the lose rope fancy.
You could put a pulley on the hook end and use the other side of the pulley to help Jack with heavier loads. Just a thought for you.
Congrats!!! Your work is absolutely mind-blowing!!!
I wonder if the tree house is fully complete at this stage?
It would be nice if we can take a good panoramic view of its final look =)
