And that's why my criminology prof told us, that if we wanted to die with a rope around our neck, we should make it a washing line and jump of a bridge that is at least 15 meters high. The combination should sever your head nicely, and spare you some suffering. Come to think of it, I'm not quite sure why they opened up that college class to highschool students for extra credit. I was the only 15-year-old in a room of people that were actively being traumatized in a lecture with a lot of real pictures of real dead people. Which seriously makes me wonder why my mom allowed me to go there. It was very educational though.

“I think the more accurate statement Would be, ‘he doesn't want us to participate in the contest at all.’ This was Ryan’s desk, right? This is where Ryan sat? You guys remember Ryan. He, uh, played football. Took--took shaunna to prom. I'm assuming that some of you Were probably even friends with ryan. Ryan wanted to win the contest, too, But when Ryan choked himself, he cut off all the oxygen to his brain, Which sent a distress signal to his heart, Slowing it down. Then his brain, in an effort to preserve itself, Shut off all non essential bodily functions. His arms gave out. His legs gave out. Which means he couldn't loosen the tie around his neck, At which point panic set in, And in Ryan’s case, it escalated to cardiac arrest. Which means that his heart stopped. Brain damage began, And within 4 minutes, He was completely and totally brain dead. He died scared and probably in a lot of pain and unable to stop what he thought he had complete control of. All because he wanted to participate In what I consider to be a pretty- pretty lame game. So, I mean, your text is actually completely accurate. I don't want you to win the contest, Because I don't want you to play the game.”

A lot of high schoolers reject everything that’s different, some embrace it, others reject it completely, but all of them are tired of the «I’m smarter than you, so you need to listen to me» speech. I don’t blame them entirely, cause they’re constantly told that they don’t know anything about the «real world» and how it works. I think Reid did a really good job of explaining himself though❤️

For lots of teens that's a perfectly valid instinct after being told to go to the front of the class and present any idea/theory.
Heck we can totally stereotype here. That outfit is an experiment in presenting himself, usually speaking such experimentation comes from a dissatisfaction in how you presented yourself previously. Doing so according to social norms didn't work out, so something new is tried. It's not bad or unhealthy behaviour, I've seen plenty of teens discovering self confidence through that way. But it's not a large stretch to say he's over compensating for his lack of confidence.

Scarlett strangulation game to see who can last the longest without passing out

    • @Dazzlefae

People actually play games like this. There was one a few years ago that people my age were doing, people I knew. No one I know died from it, but I know a lot of people did die. This wasn't a strangling one though, it was something about breath or whatever? I'm not quite sure as I never participated and I wasn't actually friends with anyone who did so it was never explained. But it was really dangerous.
There was another one a little more recent where there was a dare a day and the final dare was to kill yourself... I don't know anyone who participated in that one though...

A lot of kids play stupid games without knowing the consequences, like taking quick breaths before trying to stay underwater for the long (which can lead to shallow water blackout). So many things can easily kill you and when you normalise a game like that you end up thinking you're indestructible.
