Thank you, Sir Patrick - for everything. Was great to see you made it to Comic Con for this panel, your efforts are appreciated 🙂
Love seeing the cast return. As someone who watched TNG while it was airing when I was in High School, what a special opportunity to revisit these characters again. Much appreciated.
I geeked out so much seeing Leah's cameo in season 2.
Who is Leah?
@@MettPitt the panel moderator. She's a famous 80s actress. She's the main character's mom in the Back to the Future movies.
I love Patrick's comment about the carpet. From his point of view, that's been almost 30 years since he was on the Enterprise-D set.
I dont want it to end!🥺😭💔
Gavin says : as long as all if not most of the original cast return it'll be brilliant!!
Considering how much Gate's character got shafted in the TNG movies, I'm surprised she was willing to come back. She seemed done with the character. But, it sounds like they agreed to do more with her character, to get her to come back. I think we're likely to see a lot of episodes revolving around Crusher.
weve rewatched TNG the whole series as a family at least 5 - 6 times and own the complete DVD set. we've been eager to see each new episode of Picard come out. too we now race to the telivison for strange new worlds. im extatic theyve made ST Picard. Thank You!!! When will TNG Blueray collectors edition be available? Same with Picard? Was TNG ever recorded in 16:9 perhaps battle scenes? Will Cptn. Burnam visit Picard, Janeway, Archer, Sisko?? How does the rouge computer AI get resolved in Discoveries past? What of these killer Androids of the ether that Dr. Sung paged? So many questions, keep up the amazing work Kurtzman and Co. Thank you CBS and Paramount. When does the show PHD W. Crusher premiere?
TNG SFX where made for 4:3 thats the reason why the remasterd Versions are in 4:3 and also because the Filmed for a 4:3 frame and it would look stupid in 16:9, because the Person would stay close to each other, with no reason and enough room, if you see it on 16:9...... Never mess up with the Filmcomposition....
It has to be Sela with Denise Crosby returning. It would tie up lose ends and would perfectly fit into the romulan themes of Nemesis and Picard.
The producers said that the villian will be a new character.
Omg I didn't even realise that was Dr Crusher. I thought it was an exec or something.
She looks really good!
Looking forward to finding out which actress plays the villain. I can't believe that info. hasn't leaked yet!
I am - in a way - looking forward to crying my eyes out at the end just like I did after "All good things".
Why did they cut out the trailer?
THERE'S MORE THAN ONE ENTERPRISE
Maybe there's hope for that Odyssey cameo after all...
after all these years, they still can't place the podium away from the first chair.
hahahaha
this one is weird for me. its cool to see the bridge crew go on one final adventure, but the last two seasons of picard had such weird pacing and dialogue and writing overall.
atleast strange new worlds and lower decks seem to be up to snuff.
No they aren't
I didn't enjoy Season 2. Season 1 started off well but fizzled out so was expecting so much more but it just wasn't interesting.
The writing on Picard has been so bad it was painful. I also don't think Michelle Hurd is a very good actress, her scenes were cringe.
Amei Pikard 🖖🏼🖖🏼
I'm assuming I'm not the only one who is really hoping Season 3 makes up for the last "TNG" film!
I have major qualms with the first two seasons but I see so much potential in this show. I just really hope that they don’t spend 9 episodes getting the crew back together and only 1 episode of them actually being together. The weaknesses of this show have been bad pacing and a lack of good characterization (mainly with how they treated Seven) so I hope they fix those issues
Potential for what? utterly destroying and defecating on the entire legacy and fandom of Star Trek?
@@axelhopfinger533 the potential is in the actors and effects. This show has some amazing talent but it’s been squandered constantly by bad writing. Even decent directors have barley been able to salvage watchable episodes out of the first two seasons
@@cloudwatcher608 Agreed. There are a few capable actors - and a few annoying ones.
The production quality is also quite decent, especially when compared to previous NuTrek, though definitely below The Orville's. At least the visuals on SNW don't give me nausea and headaches outright!
But it goes to show that any such show lives and dies by the talent of the writers and producers.
And on that front, there are barely any worse ones than Kurtzman and Goldsman.
@@axelhopfinger533 I thought that the production on SNW was outstanding. The sets and costumes and uniforms were top notch, as well as using puppetry and practical effects rather than just constant CGI. It’s my favorite Star Trek since Enterprise by far
@@cloudwatcher608 Yes you could definitely see where the money went. Could have been a worthy modern Trek show with more competent show runners.
The Enterprise better be in this season, whichever letter it is
Back to the Future, Star Trek cross-over please. :)
I couldn't even get through season 2 :/
Maybe season 3 works for me, let's see
Its normal..if you have Taste :-P ...and no...Season 3 cant be better, same Producers with no sence, what ST is about.
Agreed, couldn't make it through season 2, the writing was so bad and situations so cartoonish.
my only question is which enterprise will we have the e or f
i think that we dont have a Enterprise in season 3
So they managed to wheel in the old geezer.🤭
Love this man and he will be welcome in my home, but he's getting to the point where he's losing it.
The voice isn't good.
sigh......just like with star wars hard core fans the star trek hard core fans have to hate everything, i have loved watching Discovery, Picard, Strange New Worlds, Lower Decks. Next Generation was not perfect by any means yes it was good but it was not the be all end all star trek series like TOS, Deep Space 9 and Voyager i feel were even better and Sisko was just way more of a bad ass captain than anyone else!!!
just cancel it and use the money for a DS9 4K restoration
You hit the hammer on the head. Kicking ass.
13:49 “As we know, Seven is a Fenris Ranger…”
But do we really know that, Alex? She claims to be a Fenris Ranger and we know what they claim to be but we’ve seen literally nothing or nobody else from this group other than a few sentences in an episode of season 1. Why create this supposed organization and then proceed to completely neglect any development of it? Why not just make Seven a vigilante working for only herself? It would have been so much more logical and interesting for us to find her working for Starfleet but feeling she doesn’t belong and as such choosing to join Picard on some sort of mission to address the Borg or Synthetics problems.
I don’t think they’ve “earned” anything with two rather mediocre (some say terrible) seasons… hopefully they’ll find their way back to the roots with season 3 because they seem to have been pretty lost and lackluster so far…
As Kurtzman says, "you can expect to see more Star Trek shows with female leads." Possibly in reference to the question if Seven will get a spin off show, but he said this in general. However, lets look at what we do have on female leads in new trek. In the first 2 seasons of Lower Decks there have been 4 captains on the show from various Fed. ships they encounter, were all played by females. Riker on the Titan was the only male captain shown. On Discovery Season 3, Michael is the captain, and all the many ambassadors from different planets on the ship in Season 3 were all women, plus the president of Earth, were all played by women. Only the Federation President was played by a bearded man. Discovery is already a very "female centric" show according to many fans and critics. (likely designed this way to draw in new female subscribers to the show).
Only on SNW is Pike a male captain (and his crew is well balanced in genders) and Paul Wesley will play Captain Kirk eventually. From all the combined NEW Trek shows, females as leads and captains outnumber the men as captains. At least we have the Picard series and SNW to help balance it. I am guessing the females in prominent roles is intended to encourage more women to subscribe to Paramount +. Men will likely already subscribe as fans to Trek. (not saying there aren't male roles, just a lot more strong female roles now, more than a couple of decades ago). Or are there other reasons producers and writers do this?
Michael Burnham is a strong female character? Didn't she spend 3 and a half whole seasons crying, and getting people killed with her incompetence?
Or how about this: women tend to outnumber men via biology, and in the future, nothing stops women from achieving what men can do. Sounds glorious to me.
@@Welcome2TheInternet no, but that is all anyone remembers her doing.
@@Welcome2TheInternet No, but I've seen you crying.
Mr Avery bullock
Gates has had a lot of work done
I think so too but I’m thinking just some fillers nothing major.
She looked a lot better at Comic Con than in the preview video, so I'm wondering if they just closed in way too tight in making the video.
"This will never be Season 8 of TNG"... Then 2 seasons later after they make a terrible show they do exactly that lol.
Picard's android body is a good analogy for this series. A soulless husk that merely resembles the original, praying for its own death.
I guess we haven't been watching the same show. Picard is great.
I love The Next Generation crew. I love The entire crew. Picard season 1 was average. Season 2 was BAD! please don’t screw this up
Season 1 had issues but Season 2 was great. I guess we've been watching different shows.
@@StefenTower Yes we have because everybody I have spoken to, hates season 2 of Picard. In my opinion it’s bad. Now here is where we really could be on two different worlds. I believe Discovery is the worst Star Trek EVER! Discovery is TERRIBLE! How do you feel about Discovery?
I can’t stand Alex Kurtzman.
At 91, Shatner, who was on the same comicon, was sharp as a needle. Stewart just seemed... Not there entirely... Panel is very short too.
Stewart was fine, and sounded pretty sharp to me. He is his age, though, and perhaps he had a recent illness that made his voice hoarse.
@@StefenTower Of course. It was just a very big contrast between the two (Statner was not his age).
@@einat1622 Shatner is 10 years older - lol
@@realitycheck1086 Exectly.
As Shatner said , Gene would be turning in his grave and more over, really disappointed in his son.
Gene would be thrilled that his kid is still making money off the series.
@@MJG206 No, because he realy was into ethics and positive ways, and that is, what the new Producers dont get....and cant do....horrible and realy sad.
Please STOP redoing The Wrath of Kahn. Stop even talking about it. Stop basing your scripts on it. They already tried to do the TNG version of Kahn. The result was Nemesis. We don't want them to come back just to make the same mistakes from 20 years ago.
You don't know what you don't know about this season. All they really said here is some elements of Kahn inspired them in making it.
@@StefenTower Yes, I'm well aware of that. The point is, why are THEY not aware of that? Why are they drawing "inspiration" from the same idea that killed their franchise 20 years ago? As I said, trying to do a TNG version of TWOK did not work not just because it was poorly executed, but because it's all been done before.
Listen, you have 13 feature films, 11 of which follow the same cliche formula we've all seen before. An individual bad guy is hellbent on destroying the universe for whatever reason, and we gotta take him or her out. This is not Roddenberry's vision of space exploration. This is not seeking out new life and new civilizations, new dangers and new fantastic worlds. This is recycling the same 3 villains again and again and again. This is not Star Trek.
TWOK was brilliant and perfect, at that time, 40 years ago. The franchise is supposed to be about exploring new worlds, not just for our growth but also to hold up the mirror to our own society. To confront our own issues with systemic racism, sexism, and xenophobia. That's where Star Trek achieves true greatness. Hollywood cares nothing about that, they only green light the good guys shooting torpedoes at the bad guys. They recycle the same TWOK story cause that's what they believe is the only way to make money. That's exactly why the Kelvin movies fizzled out.
As a devout Star Trek fan, we are loyal but we are critical because we care. We can tell the difference between a genuine story and just being pandered to. Obviously I'm still going to watch. I just can't help but feel Star Trek's best days are behind it.
@@vincentcerasoli5969 Bravo well said, maybe the studio execs think that would be too cerebral, now where have we heard that before?😁
@@alhawki99 Thank you for the support :)
Would have been nice for the folks around you to not chatter so much
I wish the writing would have been better. Season 2 was a huge let down. First episode had so much potential, but what they made out of it. Just no. I hope season three will be a bit better. Also they should have made that series 10 years ago. Now it's just too freaking late for the old actors of TNG.
Totally agree.
I totally agree with you. Season 2 was horrible. But they are promising season 3 is basically like the first episode of season 2 which was amazing. So fingers crossed.
lol Look. We sat down to watch season 1 hoping for something great, and it was a dumpster fire. Season 2 proved to be even worse - which, during the season 1 finale, I honestly did not think possible. Broken timelines, inconsistent characters, nonsensical action set pieces, cartoonishly ridiculous villains... I have such low expectations for Season 3, and they're so solidly proppping the whole affair up on a really cheap and belated appeal to nostalgia, that as long as Patrick Stewart doesn't poop his pants on camera they're going to declare it a triumph.
rip star trek
Picard season 2 had some of the worst writing I've ever seen... I'll only watch season 3 out of respect for Sir Patrick and the rest of the TNG crew.
same but s2 e1 & e2 are ok, after that it tanked hard
Terry Matlas(The Showrunner for Season 3l wrote the first 2 episodes of Season 2 which were significantly better than everything in Season 2. Once Terry was no longer involved it fell off a cliff.
@@playthehighnote1122 facts.
@@playthehighnote1122 yea not gonna lie, Nazi Picard and his room full of skulls was pretty bad ass
It really did!! Started off so promising, too.
All new Trek is written by morons!!! Diversity Hiring writers has given Hollywood cancer.
You can't write a good show just cos you have a vagina or a tan, you need to actually have talent.
The honour of her life was to direct 2 episodes of picard? Not being a mother. Back to the future
Sorry, but I found it impossible to enjoy Picard in the first two seasons. My subjective opinion is to much fighting, killing, and negativity for me to enjoy. There is so much that is horrific in the real world, I just can’t handle more hate, fear, blood, and guts on a Sci-Fi series I thought I would love, butt could not! I‘m so sorry for feeling this way, but I can‘t help it!
AKs statement: „The series has been a love letter to TNG“ - not really. The first season showed a dystopia with hate and gore. It‘s the opposite of what TNG stands for. Season 2 was better in this regard. I sincerly hope they‘ll revisit the values of TNG in season 3.
Oh, how dare Star Trek show us the future might not be all roses.
Does it count as earning the crew back by utterly wasting season 2 on almost nothing of consequence? Or ismit pulling out of a nosedive and deploying metaphorical parachutes?
Season 2 was great.
@@StefenTower No, it really wasn't. I mildy enjoyed it while watching but upon reflection it wasted it's characters, it explored plot ideas that went nowhere, and the finale was nothing but shallow fan service built on unearned moments.
It took the entire season to tell a story that could have been a TNG two parter, and then just stretched out every episode and filled it with irrelevant and half baked subplots that had nothing to do with the greater narrative.
It killed Elnor off for no reason, which barely fazed Picard at all, then reversed the death at the end. Q's motivations are contradictory and never justified nor is his death. Prof. Soong's clone daughter has nothing to do with anything. Rios's ICE sublot is clumsily shoehorn in, then unceremoniously abandoned, the he is written out of the show for a perfunctory romance subplot. Picard's Revelations about his mother are not even half as interesting as Tapestry and again barely connect to the main plot. Guinan's continuity doesn't make sense. Seven and Ravi's interactions are poorly written, badly directed/acted and they barely acknowledge the romance they just casually inserted without any lead up. Rene Picards reasons for waffling on her space mission are the worst sort of deus ex machina, and the while the callback to Charlie 7 is neat, the fact that she looks like the Romulan refugee who wasre used by Picard is just lazy and packs no punch at all.
Listen, I am glad you liked it, truly. Picard season 2 was not good though, but it's okay to like not good things. You just can't defend them as being good.
@@BiggestDawgEver Gary X😉
Sad to say but it's gonna be shit.
What's sad is your cynicism. It's going to be the best season of all.

I was enthusiastic when Stewart and Kurtzman announced Picard at a con in 2018.
They literally could not have made a worse revival of Picard.

nope, the egos in hollywood eclipse all sense
No, not at all, except maybe with SNW, which I found too boring to watch past Episode 5.
@@StefenTower You actually enjoy ST Picard?
Picard is a series of good ideas, poorly written and horrendously executed.
If the OG writers from TNG had written the same story it would have been epic, but modern writers have no idea what stylised writing is; they write everything like a twitter post aimed at 12-year-old cheerleader types, Theres a true stagnation of film and TV post 2014.
In short: writing is dumber
Picard is a horrible show, like Discovery. These shows are not Star Trek.
They're both fantastic and are totally Star Trek. I had some issues with Picard Season 1 but everything else has had high quality and interesting story-telling. It's Strange New Worlds that has let me down. After 5 episodes of that, I felt too bored to continue.
"We're different, we've evolved"... = plastic surgery my dear.
next on the agenda for Kurtzman :
he will put a Star Trek badge on a pig and film it in the pigsty, then hype up Star Trek: Piggy on paid youTube channels.
Captain Kirk doesn't like NuTrek.
No one cares about Shatner's opinion. He's trying to be relevant.
