I've heard of ph. Never watched it. It's exactly what I though. I'll be doing it on my next crop. My second ever crop is in flower right now.
First crop had to pull early from rain and mold. This one's inside super excited. Also just purchased nutrients for the first time last week. Been making my own in the kitchen for this crop.
Anyways. I also built a seedling box and got one to take. I'll be feeding it and phing it (after next check) it's whole life cycle.
    Great simple video my man.

You guys all make it seem like you gotta go by this $100 Ph pen this $100 water filter so it's like 200$ + when you can just get bottle water that's ph levels are as high if not higher than what you need at the market and what a case of water goes for maybe 2.99 that case of water will water your plants for I don't know maybe a month a little less !

Should you balance the ph before or after you add the nutrients?

After. Nutes may change the PH and take it out of range. Everything else is irrelevant should the PH be too far out of range. Nute lock occurs and no nutes can be absorbed at all. If your plant looks like it may be dying but more nutes don't work, also if you notice your soil isn't drying out as quickly.

General hydroponics doesn't hold ph for long. At least not my city tap. I use API brand found at petsmart safe for aquariums and plants. 2 drops to a gallon and I'm down from 7.8 to 6.2..

Thats the city waters pH buffer absorbing the blow to pH when you add your phosphoric acid(general) or sulphuric acid(API) product. My city buffers to 9.0, figuring it will reach customers in the 8-9 range. My tap waters pH is extremely resistant to acid additions until you reach a certain point and it then drops like a rock. What is happening is you are overcoming the power of the added alkaline buffer, with your own acidic buffer. This is why they suggest not to use both products in one solution, its unpredictable- that is, if you go too far with pH up or down, do not use the opposite (up/down) to correct, dump and restart.
Also, just so you know inhalation of API is warned to cause cancer by OSHA.

@@JJM2222 not to mention Genaral Hydroponics is owned by Monsanto. And API brand is a brand it's not a chemical lol. It's made specifically for fish and plants. Its extracted from the ashes of plants grown in sodium rich soils. But stick with your Monsanto poison.

@@timpage5021 I know API is a brand. API's pH down uses sulpheric acid. Dont take my word for it. Its nothing to be worried about. Your pH meter helps you from giving a toxic dose. General hydroponics uses phospheric acid. Theres a few other ingredients in each but thats the bare bones.
If you are still having difficulties comprehending my first reply, I put general and api in parentheses next to their respective ingredients in my comment. Fairly straight forward i thought
