In Mexico they can unhook the computer voltage regulator and install a regular old school regulator and off you go . They repair old sagged out leaf springs and heat and re bend them and re harden them . Also ball joints are put in a special press and tightened up the loose ball and socket . New grease seal and grease fitting . Of course I don't recommend it but it does work .

In America, it is illegal to even attempt any sort of repair on such a safety critical part !
the original manufacturer of the part knew how strong it needed to be, if it failed it was because it was overloaded!
if anyone was hurt or killed then that's on whoever overloaded the truck!
when you repaired that part you took responsibility for whatever happens to that part in the future!

They don’t have a spare parts shop or a high tech modern fabrication shop just down the road in every rural town … This is how you fix a problem with the resources you have, you just make it work 👍🏼👍🏼 They’re probably earning $1 per day for their skills / labour… too many people commenting from their 1st world bubble that have probably never left their own country.

a lot of viewers don’t fully understand what they’re seeing. in the states they’d call a wrecker for the truck, tow it to a lot. order the entire steering knuckle and the driver would get his truck back in 2-4 days. way longer, possibly up to a two weeks for a truck that old since they’re no longer in service and that knuckle might be hard to find.

I have watched a lot of Pakistani Truck videos at this point and i'm amazed by the repairs you guys make. As a mechanic in Germany i can tell you we wouldn't repair this piece. The truck would be stuck there (or at the shop) until the new part arrives. So my honest question is this: Are these repaired pieces prone to breaking again? How save are they? What are your experiences on the road? Especially with shafts?

great repair.... I recommend the SHOP have some thin welding rod on hand..... just to do the first WELDs (where the gap is small between the two items to be welded). Once the initial weld is done, then go with thicker welding rod. And since SPINDLE metal is so critical, there should be better cleaning in between welds. And, the welder (current level) should be a little higher so that the welding rod really melts on contact..... the fact that the rod sticks (tells me the current setting is low)

The fitting of the wheel bearing, at the end of the video, sums up the degree of bodging.
After turning the stub axle to size why was it was then hacked by a file?
The stub axle assy was still hot, from the lathe turning, yet the bearing fell on like a prick in a bucket. Normally the stub axle is cold, the bearing warmed up and it needs to be pressed on to the shaft.

Those are tapered roller bearings. they go on just how he installed them,Unitized bearings press in. the races press in the the hub. it was still attached to the wheel tho…don’t always swap them out if you don’t have to and to get a service truck back on the road they did great imo
That’s not a stub axle btw. It’s a spindle. they welded a broken spindle back onto the steering knuckle. now that is kinda sketchy… but hey different safety standards in different places and sometimes ya gotta make stuff happen so the operator of that truck can make his money..and time is money.

Statistics tell the whole story. Pakistan has kinda low labor productivity numbers. That means the net value generated per person, even if they are working hard, the final net output is low. Lots of earnest sweat and activity but with marginal results. Also a lack of laws and standards and oversight leads to marginal and dangerous results. You could say they do these things because they are poor. Or maybe they are poor because they do these things. Maybe both.

I didn't express any opinions. It's a fact that their net productivity is quite low. Fact.
Your *facts* are not valid, they're opinions. Pakistan has 231,000,000 people. Their population density is TWELVE TIMES that of the USA! So not that rural. And there are around 5080 auto part stores in Pakistan. And we've seen many videos where they are using new OEM Caterpillar parts, so OEM parts are readily available. What's likely is that this repair job can be billed at about a eighth the cost of buying a new or used spindle, so most truck owners will go for the far cheaper welding "repair". Never mind the questionable safety and longevity.

And most certainly, that spindle needs to just be replaced. As finance is the most powerful incentive to accumulate wealth and your trucking business is your life investment any amount of accumulated income must be considered an investment property when you are facing unexpected expenses ( mechanical failure)it’s also a financial risk to deal directly with those expenses assuming you can not avoid or afford your investment (truck) to be off the road for any length of time so repairs must be completed as quickly and efficiently and inexpensive as possible that’s my observation as a result of watching these various transport companies to cut down on costs

Then the truly honest thing to do, would be to refuse the repair.
      A) you carried out an extremely dangerous repair to the stub axle. THIS WILL FAIL. SOON.
and when it does, it will be sudden and catastrophic. Complete loss of brakes and steering.
      B) you allowed the customer to dictate your work standards and put it together knowing the brakes are damaged.
IN MY COUNTRY, YOU AND YOUR COMPANY WOULD BE HELD LIABLE WHEN THE INEVITABLE HAPPENED.

Very good work for improvising with what is available. If suggesting anything, for heat affected parts from welding on proof steel like a stub axle, very slow cooling is required while buried in sand. When time allows this. Then final finish is done.
