I preordered Blonde on the Tracks, having never heard of Ms. Swift, or having heard her music. As a lifelong Dylan fan, now in my 60s, I just wanted to support anyone who not only had selected some of my all time Dylan favorites, for this heartfelt tribute, but had the bravado to include not only, the epic ‘Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands’, but also, the just released ‘I Contain Multitudes’! Now, that takes chutzpah! What a lovely surprise then, when it arrived a couple of weeks ago! I was already expecting a pleasant record - I mean, how can you go wrong, with those songs? But, I gotta say, this one has exceeded all expectations! It’s hardly left my turntable, since. As a producer, I am always listening with a critical ear, looking for relevance, appropriate restraint, good use of space, solid singing, musicianship and recording techniques, that are sonically interesting, without overshadowing the artist or the song. Blonde on the Tracks checks all of those boxes. Besides Emma’s great voice, obvious love and devotion to the material (and the genius who penned it), I love her interpretations, which are just loyal enough to the originals, but still manage to deliver her own artistic imprint - no easy feat, when treading such iconic, sacred ground. Even my wife, who has never been a huge Dylan fan (amazing, in light of this, that we’ve stayed together for 38 years! lol) has fallen in love with this record and has asked me several times to play “that song about Queen Jane”! It was my love of all things Bob Dylan, that drew me in, but now that Emma Swift is on my radar, I am a fan and I look very forward to checking out the rest of her recorded output, past, present and future! Highly recommended!
You said it all Papa. She is a revelation. Her admiration and understanding of Bob's work is palpable. I hope the great man send her a cheerio for this.
This is the best cover of any song I have heard. It connects with the original, it's fresh enough, but what I really like is that there is no ego in it at all. Emma seems to be only interested in showcasing the song, but by being so respectful of it, the song is actually showcasing Emma's talent, also.
I've listened first the cover if "I contain multitudes", by Emma Swift. A hearthbeat. And this cover is sumptuous. Thanks Ms. Smith for the gems you brings to all us
Emma, the Milton Glaser poster of Bob is my favorite poster of all time. The 1978 shot by Annie Leibovitz that is the video thumbnail is my favorite photo of Bob ever. You managed to get them both in one video! Great concept and idea! Yvonne did a fantastic job! Best wishes to you and all involved on the launch and success of Blonde On The Tracks!
Everything surrounding this album is so exquisitely executed; music and visuals and vocal interpretation of Dylan's work, it's solid sincere love. >^.^< Thank Mew all who helped bring this into being.
Great cover of a great song! Perfect! Happy to see that young artists like you or Lukas Nelson in a very different style continue to sing his repertoire !
Stunning. Already pre-ordered on Amazon. Excellent in every way. I Contain Multitudes is beautiful as well. Thank you Emma. Made my day and warmed my heart during these rough days. Just great. Also great guitar work from Mr. Hitchcock. So good. Thank you again for blessing us with this beautiful music when we need it most. Take care and be safe. Matthew Moyer. Powder Springs, GA.
Amazingly good! Only person worth listening to at the minute that covers/understands the beauty of Dylan which let’s be honest most don’t.... keep it up... people do listen when you do great stuff!
Another great video and a great interpretation of this song. This is one of those later songs that sounds so personal that one wonders whether interpretations should even be attempted, yet you pulled it off.
What an amazing singing voice you have! Kudos. Wondering if you ever plan to cover some of the country gems Dylan wrote or covered. Then we would have an excuse to quote Dylan once again: "The country music station plays soft, but there is nothing, really nothing, to turn off."
So many amazing Dylan songs to cover, so little time! I am focussing on my own songs at the moment but will definitely revisit his catalogue again soon, it is irresistible.
You capture the poignancy and wistfulness that underscores much of Dylan. Echoes of Nina Persson and Leonard Cohen's Famous Blue Raincoat. More please.
great subtle and brave choices, beautifuly sung and very well produced - sharing widely, a keeper. Approached with an old mans trepidation but consider myself very happily schooled. respect.
Hhmmmm ... stumbled upon "Emma Swift / Blonde on the Tracks" via a 2page feature in the (german :-)) Rolling Stone, as a Dylan fan I thought "have to check that one out", finally took the time ... instantly hooked! Terrific! (On a side note: Famous Blue Raincoat - mentioned by some - is one of my "island records" :-) ... but I 'm digressing :-)) As much as I love these covers: some say "pls keep'em coming" ... but I'm equally interested in the stories you've to tell, your songs, your voice ... so, I'd say "Keep Emma coming!" :-) And if you ever consider playing over here in Germany I hope I don't miss it, I'll be in your audience! Again: wonderful job, wonderful execution ... THANKS!!!
Love Chrissie, but you are awesome! Blonde on Blonde is my favorite of all time, but lately I have been listening to BOTT. THIS US SERIOUSLY GOOD!!!!!💝🙏💝💃

Yeah, what☝🏼 he said.
Just heard her today for the first time. Reminds me of Jennifer Warne's "Famous Blue Raincoat"
I fully agree with your text...up to what you say about your wife! I'm living the same situation but only since 37 years😉!

Well said. It's the perfect balance
One of Bob's loveliest songs. Even after all these years he still blows me away and Emma sings his songs as well as anyone ever has. Great album too!
Thank you so much!
The old, the familiar, and the spark of the new and the renovated. A beautiful reconstruction!
You do the great man justice. Subbed.
Emma amazing stuff 🏴 xx 👍
One of Dylan's probable, most personal songs; sung with the same angst they were written in. Emma Swift's voice is pure syrup.
Holy. Shit. You are absolutely incredible. Please keep the Bob covers coming!
Thanks Nick!
Best thing I have heard in decades
Thank you, Mike!
Great to hear these songs brought back to life with a new voice
Thanks Aaron!
Emma brings a sweetness to Dylan's songs and not in a bad way, the original is sublime and this a really good cover

I love that you did this song. Can’t believe I’m just hearing of you. This sounds timeless.

As lovely a tribute to Glaser as to Dylan.
