This is the most poignant, most personal, most heartbreaking, most forgiving collection of songs I think I've ever had the blessing and fortune to listen to. Jeez, it's a catalog of heartbreak, and yet the most intelligent, adult goodbye I've ever heard. Mr. Dylan, thank you for exposing your heartbreak for us to learn from.
I couldn't agree more Maureen, I loved your comment. My ex broke up with me eight months ago and I am still not over him - I'm starting to think I'll never get over the heartbreak, the hurt, the regrets, the "what ifs". He is with someone new now while I'm unable to forget him and to finally let him go. "Blood on the tracks" saved me. It gives me comfort to know that I have Bob's lyrics to relate to whenever I feel the need to cry or just wallow in sadness. He managed to put the feelings and the pain that I am harbouring into words and beautifully poetic verses. Every single song on this album is mesmerizing x blessings to all

Best part of the song. I can’t see that line written and not think “like a corkscrew to my heart,” too. This and “Simple Twist of Fate” are my two favorites from the album. I think this song is most honest on the album, especially the part about her being with other men. Just brutal v
i was lonely and thinking about my girl who i lost thru my own stubbornness and decided to listen to this after 30 years before i went out to see friends , but its going to be a while before i can let anyone see me.

But the beauty of Dylan is he never leaves things alone, he throws in the next line: Oh, see what you can do. A little dig that it isn't all one sided. Genius.
@Brett Peterson yes! Theres a note he hits on it when he hits the bflat chord that sends me into a wave of nostalgia. Porb my favourite harmonical solo of his.
I do believe this is the very saddest heartbreaking, beautiful song that was ever written and sung. Dylan is the communications artist of our lifetime.
There are some great covers of this song but none are as raw. For all his voice is criticised no one else could sing this so brutally and beautifully. The wail is the case in point. It sounds almost like an instrument.
@@hi0u91e9 I agree with you 100%. There are singers that have good voices, but can't bring emotions to the song. Example: BRUCE, not a great singer but puts his heart and soul into his songs...just like Dylan. I was lucky to see a BRUCE concert where he brought Dylan on stage to sing a couple of songs with him. One of the highlights of my life.
"I'm going out of my mind with a pain that stops and starts like a corkscrew to my heart ever since we've been apart." Nobody could explain better the feeling you have when your heart is broken. Love this song. Thank you!
Blood On the Tracks is an album I listened to as a young man. Two divorces later, the songs radiate with pain & wisdom; their meaning have completely changed. And yet, I don’t think we’ll ever see any other artist open up their heart to us like Bob Dylan did, when he is most suffering and most vulnerable. Imagine feeling so, so broken and still having the ability to write such beautiful music and lyrics, frankly bleeding from the heart. No wonder he entitled the album Blood on the Tracks. On this merit alone, Bob Dylan is peerless. Thank you, Bob Dylan.
Lyrics Our conversation was short and sweet It nearly swept me off-a my feet And I'm back in the rain, oh, oh And you are on dry land You made it there somehow You're a big girl now [Verse 2] Bird on the horizon, sitting on a fence He's singing his song for me at his own expense And I'm just like that bird, oh, oh Singing just for you I hope that you can hear Hear me singing through these tears [Verse 3] Time is a jet plane, it moves too fast Oh, but what a shame if all we've shared can't last I can change, I swear, oh, oh See what you can do I can make it through You can make it too [Verse 4] Love is so simple, to quote a phrase You've known it all the time, I'm learning it these days Oh, I know where I can find you, oh, oh In somebody's room It's a price I have to pay You're a big girl all the way [Verse 5] A change in the weather is known to be extreme But what's the sense of changing horses in midstream? Our conversation was short and sweet
It nearly swept me off-a my feet
And I'm back in the rain, oh, oh
And you are on dry land
You made it there somehow
You're a big girl now
[Verse 2]
Bird on the horizon, sitting on a fence
He's singing his song for me at his own expense
And I'm just like that bird, oh, oh
Singing just for you
I hope that you can hear
Hear me singing through these tears
[Verse 3]
Time is a jet plane, it moves too fast
Oh, but what a shame if all we've shared can't last
I can change, I swear, oh, oh
See what you can do
I can make it through
You can make it too
[Verse 4]
Love is so simple, to quote a phrase
You've known it all the time, I'm learning it these days
Oh, I know where I can find you, oh, oh
In somebody's room
It's a price I have to pay
You're a big girl all the way
[Verse 5]
A change in the weather is known to be extreme
But what's the sense of changing horses in midstream?
I'm going out of my mind, oh, oh
With a pain that stops and starts
Like a corkscrew to my heart
Ever since we've been apart

Boy, do we ever. His songwriting prowess is amazing...I love great songwriters...Leonard Cohen, Gordon Lightfoot, Neil Young and so many others, but for me, BD leads the way. Great, great stuff.

The best thing ever undying true love scared of the balcony scared of the mirror scared of the kitchen all for good reason can't stand my tobacco pipe but can't help it every sip never enough it's coming I can feel it
One of Dylan’s most beautiful songs even if it’s tragic.
Hello dear, how’re you doing today?
It’s nice meeting you on here
I'm 61 & unfortunately split withers love of my life who I have 2 grown up sons, Liam & Callum. This song brings tears to my eyes. I used to sing & play guitar to her & found it hard to get through this song without crying. To my never ending shame & embarrassment, I broke her heart through use of heroin, marijuana & L.S.D. It broke her heart when she asked me to leave after 25 years together. I've been clean now for 12 years, never been with another woman as I'm still in love with her but, Caroline married & is happy & that gives me great comfort. M.F. McCorriston U.K.🍀🙏🍀
Good luck Michael. Hope you're doing well. Cracking job staying clean 👏
Love the harmonica at the end.
Eu amo essa música, é a minha cara o seu estilo de cantar❤
Heartbreaking

You could say that about several of Bob's albums.
Went thru my first breakup a while back 4 years down that road a really beautiful road I wasn’t ready for in my youth I let it go begging back for it and it was to late and thought I was alone In the way I felt but Dylan has been thru it all this song came to me at such a goodtime I long for a love like that again but don’t know if I’m ready for it anymore anyway thanks Dylan
Like a corkscrew to my heart.......
Yup. It's still there even after 24 years. I've just had to learn to live with it.
Do you mean youre still not over your ex after 24 years?

Hatte er jemals vorher oder nachher wieder so viel Schmelz in der Stimme, wie bei diesen hinreißenden Zeilen: „And I’m back in the rain / And you are on dry land“?! Vielleicht am Ende des Songs, wenn er von dem Korkenzieher in seinem Herzen singt.
IMHO the best Dylan album. Yes, it originally came out on an album. Time marches on.
One of Dylan's Best songs ever!
His music n then his voice, singing these lyrics, I connect with, Soo Beautiful to Me, I grew up listening to Dylan n it's been over 40 years now, still Loving Dylan

Personally, I have always thought that this one one of the top 5 albums of the 20th Century.
I always forget about this one. Man this is a great album!
With a pain that stops and starts… like a corkscrew to my heart … ever since we’ve been apart
La mia vita si è intrecciata con questo disco. Una emozione che mi prende anche oggi .
Dylan the lyricist, but my his melody's are as beautiful as the words.
Sometimes knowing other people who feel things and listening to them can make your pain fade away
