@Brett Peterson yes! Theres a note he hits on it when he hits the bflat chord that sends me into a wave of nostalgia. Porb my favourite harmonical solo of his.
This is the most poignant, most personal, most heartbreaking, most forgiving collection of songs I think I've ever had the blessing and fortune to listen to. Jeez, it's a catalog of heartbreak, and yet the most intelligent, adult goodbye I've ever heard. Mr. Dylan, thank you for exposing your heartbreak for us to learn from.
I couldn't agree more Maureen, I loved your comment. My ex broke up with me eight months ago and I am still not over him - I'm starting to think I'll never get over the heartbreak, the hurt, the regrets, the "what ifs". He is with someone new now while I'm unable to forget him and to finally let him go. "Blood on the tracks" saved me. It gives me comfort to know that I have Bob's lyrics to relate to whenever I feel the need to cry or just wallow in sadness. He managed to put the feelings and the pain that I am harbouring into words and beautifully poetic verses. Every single song on this album is mesmerizing x blessings to all
This is one of my favorite BD albums...memorable songs that have just stuck in my head since I first listened to it in 1975. So happy he's putting out new music now...the world needs it. Boy, do we ever. His songwriting prowess is amazing...I love great songwriters...Leonard Cohen, Gordon Lightfoot, Neil Young and so many others, but for me, BD leads the way. Great, great stuff.
Best part of the song. I can’t see that line written and not think “like a corkscrew to my heart,” too. This and “Simple Twist of Fate” are my two favorites from the album. I think this song is most honest on the album, especially the part about her being with other men. Just brutal v
Listen to this song all the time, loved Dylan since I was a teenager but I lost my daughter 5yrs ago and I always get emotional to this song don't know why I should be a big girl now X
Im so Sorry for all of your Loses.Music they say soothes the soul,But it brings out the tears too .Dont think its a bad thing. This whole lp is Heartache that only he can sing.Let it comfort you.

"I'm going out of my mind with a pain that stops and starts like a corkscrew to my heart ever since we've been apart." Nobody could explain better the feeling you have when your heart is broken. Love this song. Thank you!
There are some great covers of this song but none are as raw. For all his voice is criticised no one else could sing this so brutally and beautifully. The wail is the case in point. It sounds almost like an instrument.
@@hi0u91e9 I agree with you 100%. There are singers that have good voices, but can't bring emotions to the song. Lyrics Our conversation was short and sweet It nearly swept me off-a my feet And I'm back in the rain, oh, oh And you are on dry land You made it there somehow You're a big girl now [Verse 2] Bird on the horizon, sitting on a fence He's singing his song for me at his own expense And I'm just like that bird, oh, oh Singing just for you I hope that you can hear Hear me singing through these tears [Verse 3] Time is a jet plane, it moves too fast Oh, but what a shame if all we've shared can't last I can change, I swear, oh, oh See what you can do I can make it through You can make it too [Verse 4] Love is so simple, to quote a phrase You've known it all the time, I'm learning it these days Oh, I know where I can find you, oh, oh In somebody's room It's a price I have to pay You're a big girl all the way [Verse 5] A change in the weather is known to be extreme But what's the sense of changing horses in midstream? I love how each verse starts with corny, almost cliche lyrics, and then he hits you with "...and I'm back in the RAIN..." "...Like a CORKSCREW to my HEART..." Hes such a good songwriter.
I feel the exact same way.. I listened to his songs over and over .... There were times I felt he was the only person who could possibly understand how I felt

The only album where every song was a masterpiece. This album is one of those things that give meaning to life. "How beauteous mankind is! O brave new world, That has such people in ’t!"
When I hear this ..I am 15 years old in our back bedroom...mum and dad are downstairs ...I am totally in love with blood on the tracks and on the threshold of life..my dad is shouting up the stairs to turn down the miserable moaning voices of him and Neil young....and time is a jet plane that moves too fast ...would love to go back for just a day ❤️
Damn fine post you laid down, Natalie. This too sends me back to my home I grew up in in Tucson....with my late parents yelling at me to "turn it down". haha. They were pretty cool....yet I was just about insane. I pray literally that I'll see them in the afterlife and tell them I love them and I'm so sorry for all the angst I brought into the family. Yeah.....I'm 67 now with a lot of miles and good things in my life....yet this Dylan song has me in tears. jbeinarizona
Blue Pill Me - "I can can change, I swear..." Red Pill Me - Once your eyes are open, you can't close them again. Seeking something missing. Missing something left behind.
There's no doubt in my mind that this man is a genius... however I suspect he would not wish to be classified like that, or classified at all. He wouldn't need to be, he's given so much
I Love LOVE this song Soo MUCH!!! I can STILL listen to Dylan All Day Long!! I NEVER get tired of his music, he's the BEST musician to Me, Always has been, since First time at 15 years old!!! Now I'm in my fifties, his music has been a huge part of my Life, everyday... Can't get enough of it...
So hard to single out one song from the greatest ever, and probably always will be, songwriter, but this simply turns me to jelly when I hear it. Bob talks to my inner sadness and loss. Like a corkscrew to my heart
Bob and some friends played this surprise at Denny and my Wedding.. he walked up, nonchalantly with a smile under the large old Beech tree and sang my song as we walked down the pathway as the ceremony ended.. i was blown away byBob ad this very special poignant song to me.❤️
I was about 18 when I heard this song for the first time. And although english is not my mothertongue and my knowledge of it was really poor at that time, I managed to distinguish these words: "Like a corkscrew to my heart ever since we've been apart". And, holy gosh!!!, I felt like Dylan had just borrowed me words I was looking for to express the feelings I was going through at that time.
Oh man, I found this album working my way though Dylan's discography at the end of high school. I remember sitting in my armchair pulled in front of my PC at 1 in the morning drinking some awful boxed wine. It was so bad I was putting it into a bud bottle first so I could just pour it down my gullet and avoid tasting it. All to get away from the thought that the girl I was in love with was going away to a different university from me and that was likely to be goodbye. It was, we've not seen one another since. We don't even wish each other happy birthday on Facebook anymore. I don't actually remember her birthday. Life eh? Timeless classic from Dylan's best album.
IMO bobs best lp, i lost the love of my life once, she was a lady who could.never be faithful, when he sings i know where i can find you, in somebodys room, it all comes back, 40 yrs later,
I rate this song and the album as one of his best along with his earler recordings and some that followed. I'm seventy and this song still rips thruogh my heart.
But the beauty of Dylan is he never leaves things alone, he throws in the next line: Oh, see what you can do. A little dig that it isn't all one sided. Genius.
The trembling harmonica in this song sounds and feels like you have nothing more to lose.
Like the last tears running down your face.

Lyrics
Our conversation was short and sweet
It nearly swept me off-a my feet
And I'm back in the rain, oh, oh
And you are on dry land
You made it there somehow
You're a big girl now
[Verse 2]
Bird on the horizon, sitting on a fence
He's singing his song for me at his own expense
And I'm just like that bird, oh, oh
Singing just for you
I hope that you can hear
Hear me singing through these tears
[Verse 3]
Time is a jet plane, it moves too fast
Oh, but what a shame if all we've shared can't last
I can change, I swear, oh, oh
See what you can do
I can make it through
You can make it too
[Verse 4]
Love is so simple, to quote a phrase
You've known it all the time, I'm learning it these days
Oh, I know where I can find you, oh, oh
In somebody's room
It's a price I have to pay
You're a big girl all the way
[Verse 5]
A change in the weather is known to be extreme
But what's the sense of changing horses in midstream?
I'm going out of my mind, oh, oh
With a pain that stops and starts
Like a corkscrew to my heart
Ever since we've been apart

I'm going out of my mind, oh
With a pain that stops and starts
Like a corkscrew to my heart
Ever since we've been apart
Hello dear, it’s nice meeting you on here.

The only album where every song was a masterpiece. This album is one of those things that give meaning to life.
"How beauteous mankind is! O brave new world,
That has such people in ’t!"

The real poet can take us with him and feel that we are him.
This album takes me back to a beautiful time in life.. when songs were simple and clean and there was a lot of love
Hello dear, it’s nice meeting you on here.
I bought this album in a head shop in 1975 I was 17 smoked pot and wrote stuff on my old sears manual typewriter in the days
"Like a corkscrew to my heart" enough said.
If only ...
Oh how I remember this from mid 70's. I was a young woman and going through some stuff.. Bob singing with a broken heart. Love this..❤️

Ya know. I'm 59 yrs old. I'm an 80s child. Think u2 ,the cure, and the Smiths. Bobby brings to really good place. They'll never be another.
Blue Pill Me - "I can can change, I swear..."
Red Pill Me - Once your eyes are open, you can't close them again.
Seeking something missing.
Missing something left behind.
There's no doubt in my mind that this man is a genius... however I suspect he would not wish to be classified like that, or classified at all. He wouldn't need to be, he's given so much
People who say they don't like Dylan....I just don't get it.
I don't like Dylan. But Blood on the Tracks is great, particularly this song.
This song is so sadly beautiful. I was just trying to get through something that broke my heart. Bob you were there for me thank you.
best Dylan album ever.
Many agree with you 😎
Four words that require neither explanation or defense. Play it and be awed, from first note to last.
Absolutely one of my favorite albums. So emotional, I can't explain why.
Blonde on Blonde called. :) But it’s in my top 5 by him, for sure. And that’s saying a TON.
Anyone who thinks this or Blonde On Blonde is their favourite is right.
"I know where I can find you... in somebody's room."
Poetry. Thank you, Bob.
We love you bob 😎
I Love LOVE this song Soo MUCH!!!
I can STILL listen to Dylan All Day Long!! I NEVER get tired of his music, he's the BEST musician to Me, Always has been, since First time at 15 years old!!! Now I'm in my fifties, his music has been a huge part of my Life, everyday...
Can't get enough of it...

So hard to single out one song from the greatest ever, and probably always will be, songwriter, but this simply turns me to jelly when I hear it. Bob talks to my inner sadness and loss. Like a corkscrew to my heart
The realization that you blew it. Shaken to the core there is no second act.
Well said
colbert asked springsteen what his three favorite dylan songs were...can't believe this wasn't on the list
Bob's most heartbroken song. You can hear the pain.
Either this or Sara (Desire)

Raw and beautiful, best break up album of all time. No question .
To me, what makes it so is its simplicity
I'm goin' out of my mind with a pain that stops and starts
Like a corkscrew to my heart ever since we been apart
Love the harmonica at the end.
Bob and some friends played this surprise at Denny and my Wedding.. he walked up, nonchalantly with a smile under the large old Beech tree and sang my song as we walked down the pathway as the ceremony ended..
i was blown away byBob ad this very special poignant song to me.❤️
People who claim Bob can't sing are nuts.
James, you are so damn right! He has so many voices and I think it pisses people off and they're jealous!
His voice used to be amazing.

Of all the Bob Dylan albums I have which is about 23 I always come back to this song and sooner or later one of must know from B on B
I was about 18 when I heard this song for the first time. And although english is not my mothertongue and my knowledge of it was really poor at that time, I managed to distinguish these words: "Like a corkscrew to my heart ever since we've been apart". And, holy gosh!!!, I felt like Dylan had just borrowed me words I was looking for to express the feelings I was going through at that time.

don’t know what gets me more- corkscrew to heart or the harmonica

Please upload The Ballad of Frankie Lee and Judas Priest. One of my favourites.
It is not a house, it is a home. Lol. Great song!
u got good taste
And it didn't upload
Its guilt was well concealed
And Google muttered quietly
Nothing is revealed
Love that song, especially when Jerry sings it. Such a good rendition! 🌹⚡❤

Yup. It's still there even after 24 years. I've just had to learn to live with it.

I usually don't subscribe to musicians. Just Bob Dylan is my one exception.
Sometimes knowing other people who feel things and listening to them can make your pain fade away

Coolest grandfather on the planet, hope he gets interviewed by Howard Stern to promote new movie, if it ever gets made :)
This albumn will always remind me of my first love. David Duffy Tallahassee Florida. I hear he is teaching where I spent my first Birthday.

Hurts to hear those words
I can change I swear. The desperation is palpable.
But the beauty of Dylan is he never leaves things alone, he throws in the next line: Oh, see what you can do. A little dig that it isn't all one sided. Genius.
I take that more as a plea.
No more money no more fancy free this other jaw ????????????????
