One thing I’ve always loved about this movie is how _timeless_ it feels. There’s no constant pop culture humor (the closest we got is Prof. Poopypants mentioning Oprah). There isn’t even any modern technology such as smartphones, tablets, or even laptops. It honestly feels like this movie could take place in the same time period the books did (late 90s-early 2000s) and yet at the same time doesn’t feel dated at all. Major kudos to DreamWorks on that.

The captain underpants movie is infinitely better than what most people give it credit for. I recently rewatched it, and I couldn’t stop smiling.

I swear. Nowadays, I don’t really see people appreciate this movie enough as it is. I still think it’s a masterpiece. And even though I’m going to high school, I still appreciate this movie and all of the books from the Captain Underpants series. Heck even I showed this movie recently to my little brother and my cousin. They loved it. This masterpiece made me want to start drawing and making up stories. And also was the reason why I wanted to become an artist. They were my best role model for good comedy. So for all of the reasons you said about this movie is valid. And I hope people can see it as well. P.S. You got yourself a new subscriber :)

I saw this movie on opening day when it first came out, and I still think that this movie hit every mark for me and is one of my personal favorite movies of all time. Overall, this is my favorite movie of all of 2017. My personal ranking: 10/10 for the story perfectly hitting all of the right marks on how to tell a Captain Underpants story, 10/10 for the animation, because you can't have it any other way, 10/10 for every single character in this movie, including Edith, who was a surprising newcomer to the franchise and a great addition to the movie, Overall: 10/10 and a five-star rating! Watch this movie for yourself if you're a huge Captain Underpants fan like how I was back in the 2000's decade starting out.

I remember having all of the books and even the spinoffs plus the activity books and even the blu ray of the movie.
Funny enough I started re-reading all of them right now I'm on the 8th one and they still hold up so far.

It's funny how Ed Helms starred both in a very faithful adaptation that fully turns to the spirit of the book series, and the absolute trainwreck of adaptation that completely misunderstoods what made the original book special.
