Lived in the south 3/5 of my life (2/5 in Philly). Never once saw a wedding like this in the south! All the goofy pink fluff and big hats! Love how Hollywood portrays southerners. Maybe actually visit and see some class! In PA saw tacky and then some
I'm from the south the border of Florida and Alabama and my family has pics from their wedding like this but worse some bridesmaids had flower baskets instead of bouquets and big hats and those God awful colors my cousin had one color scheme called gold burst lol it was 79 but they got worse in the 80s. Also I had to add the high neck ruffle wedding dress one cousin wore then my god the burgundy hunter green taffeta.
Trump destroyed this film for me! Used to love it! Now all i can think of watching it is that all these people would vote Trump! It makes my skin crawl (and they are not likable any more)
@@MovingPicsOfficial But its not fiction anymore is it? it became a very real "reality" in 2016 and since then it a very nightmare of a reality And now its coming back even more frightening All these immoral gun loving book banning women hating "christian" fanatics are getting stronger and stronger Kids are killed in schools women die in parking lots because they dont have access to basic health care freedom of speech and expression is seriously attacked and they couldnt care less! So everytime i see this beautiful film it reminds me of all these freaks and its destroyed for me (i keep thinking that everyone at that wedding had a gun)
Do you like going to weddings?
@MovingPicsOfficial Yes
Would definitely go to this one!
All that pink & big hair. I loved this movie. What an amazing cast. Highs and lows all brilliantly played.
Excuse me but the colors are Blush and Bashful
As much as I loved Shirley MacLaine and Olympia Dukakis, I LOVED Tom Skerritt in this. He played his part beautifully 🤣🤣🤣
He was bloody hilarious!!! 😂😂😂
He steals the show 😂
Absolutely!! He cracked me up😂😂
Shelby's hairdo was bigger than Truvy's in these scenes. LoL

As a true blue Midwest Southerner (family history in both places) this was very accurate of weddings in the 80's. Quit spreading lies.
Favorite movie! Would love to “live” in this town!
@@universalmother where did you live in the south? Southern California?
@@MicheleBaird-g9y We live in Florida. You don't sound very bright. 🧐

This was a great movie 😂
Mama would have stood up when Shelby entered the sanctuary, signaling the congregation to stand. Maybe that would make filming harder though.
"Looks like 2 pigs fighting under a blanket!"
Well, well,
this scene is REMARKABLE
and ALWAYS
cracks me up for laughing!!!
SEVEN BRIDESMAIDS AND TWO FLOWER GIRLS ?
Such a giant, kitschy wedding.
Great, isn't it!

@@MovingPicsOfficial No. The story is not fiction. Some details, of course, but Shelby is based on the author's sister.
