Good luck with the new sort of old truck! The tanks polish up very nice. The trucks profile is a good one for sure. Paccar engines aren't much to look at but if you get a couple more clicks for your gallons then you've got a game changer. Take it easy now! Cheers!

The new truck is obviously CARB compliant, so that's why you can start operating in California again? How does that greaseless 5th wheel work (that was before my time) ? Did you have to clean all the grease off of the king pin and the contact surface of the trailer? Now I learned this the hard way. You want to stay out of trouble in any State in the country? "Working outside in the dirt"? You crazy man! In 100 degrees? Ye gods! You should get yourself a steel frame and some old tarps or similar and make yourself a tent roof to work in the shade. Big enough to get the truck under but without sides to allow the breeze to get in. You DO get a breeze don't you? :-)
The other thing which occurred to me concerns your mudflaps. Here in the UK I see tipper trucks from time to time. Most of them are eight-wheeler rigids (straight trucks) and since they are going into building sites and the like pretty frequently they have their flaps fitted with a little chain to keep them bent backwards slightly. I've never asked them why but I'd guess it's to prevent the flap being pushed against the tyres. I don't know what your US construction and use rules are but I thought it might be an idea to help prevent you ripping the supports off the chassis!
Good luck with the new truck! Keep those videos coming please.
