After reading the Guitar World article again on the 100 worst solos, I cam her expecting an utter travesty. While there are parts at the beginning that feel disconnected, and this certainly isn't the most original solo, this is pretty damn good. But like people say, GW sucks. They've been featuring the same 10 guitarists on a regular basis, while occasionally throwing someone who happens to be the latest trend. Maybe we should take a poll to see what the worst guitar magazine is?
Considering he was really wasted.. it is what it is.. Sadly, because this was the night it was recorded this is what people judge him by. Which is sad, cause he's actually a really good guitarist and composer and let's not forget he was probably one of the most entertaining guys in the 80's and that says a lot considering the era. I've seen poison quite a few times over the decades and he always delivers. He's getting older now so the energy isn't what it once was, but he's also clean and sober now, so no cocaine induced 100 mph for 2 hours straight craziness, but his accuracy has gotten way better live...so yeah.. to bad he had his issues back then.. but jacked up or sober.. he is the show..

The issue with that statement is that some of these guitarists who were influenced by Eddie surpassed Eddie in precision and technical prowess, take Paul Gilbert for instance. I wonder if people like Jimi Hendrix would have considered other guitarists like Stevie ray Vaughn a "joke" for being heavily influenced by him. Eddie had a huge Ego at the time and was jealous of guitarists who were taking his ideas at another level. George Lynch was another pioneer shredder EVH was jealous of. In fact, whenever EVH knew Lynch was in the audience watching his show, he'd turn his back to the audience so that Lynch doesn't see what he's doing. The guitarist from Great White said that EVH saw George Lynch double tap at a show. lol

I think I saw this first time around 2008 when RUclips was still quite new thing (just few years old). And back then me and my friends where totally laughing at this that "how the hell Poison thought publishing this would be good idea"? Now 13 years later and the amount of horrible solos in RUclips (starting from Lil Wayne) makes this sound like one of the most epic solos of our time.

No chord progression heck probably not a chord in any manner. Couldn't play a single scale nor did I know what one was and back then I was pretty bad at noticing when my guitar would be out of tune. First few months I was that bad... that's what that noise reminds me of. Might even be a few spots that were worse sounding than the nonsense I was trying to make.

I saw him on the start of this tour and he was in way better shape but this tour was like a year or little over a year long, so by the time this was shot, he must have just kinda had a bad case of the screw-its...But now he's clean and plays so much better...

I think CC problem is that it's not that he can't play a solo, it's that he over plays in between parts of song and to be honest you can get sick of that in a hurry. I've found unless you are going to see Stev Vai or Joe, don't over play in songs.

I remember this solo from the cd. the mid way part where he slows it down always impressed me. this is before I discovered Jeff beck. I think guitar world didn't like cc personally. I think they shat on his solo on warrant "cherry pie" also. I don't think it's the worst solo of all-time. i'd like to see the other candidates for "worst solo of all time." several years later i saw Judas Priest live and glenn's solo was not that impressive. but I love Judas Priest's music and they have a career of great music and it was a fantastic concert. whereas I saw poison on the Def Leppard "rock of ages" tour and wasn't that impressed. I would have much rather seen Lita ford open for def lep instead!
Poison aren't known for their instrumental prowess or top notch songwriting. This is no worse than any lead guitarist spotlight solo from this era. Definitely not better either. Regardless it's hard not to love CC
I think Guitar World’s writers are trend-chasing morons who wanted to jump on the grunge train. This is by no means the best solo to come out of the shred era, nor by Deville himself, but it beats all the crud that typified guitar solos during the 90s alternative rock explosion. Andy Salter seriously, yes. The tone is pretty bad combined with some chromatic garbage at the beginning but he actually covered a lot of melodic ground and slowed it down at the end. Not the best but he did alright

CC CAN play. It's just most of the time he was too wasted to play. Still, being a great song is way more important to me than technical ability, and Poison has many great songs.

It’s not the worst solo. It’s more just a solo of the time. Every band in LA at the time had a guy from GIT doing this same thing really.
He’s not bad. Listen to the Van Halen tapping part, it’s clear and in tune. He can play, if he wants to.

I remember this solo from the cd. the mid way part where he slows it down always impressed me. this is before I discovered Jeff beck. I think guitar world didn't like cc personally. I think they shat on his solo on warrant "cherry pie" also.

several years later i saw Judas Priest live and glenn's solo was not that impressive. but I love Judas Priest's music and they have a career of great music and it was a fantastic concert. whereas I saw poison on the Def Leppard "rock of ages" tour and wasn't that impressed. I would have much rather seen Lita ford open for def lep instead!

Poison aren't known for their instrumental prowess or top notch songwriting. This is no worse than any lead guitarist spotlight solo from this era. Definitely not better either. Regardless it's hard not to love CC
I think Guitar World’s writers are trend-chasing morons who wanted to jump on the grunge train. This is by no means the best solo to come out of the shred era, nor by Deville himself, but it beats all the crud that typified guitar solos during the 90s alternative rock explosion.
P.S. - Here’s multiple guitar solos that could easily qualify as the worst ever, more than half of them would beat Fred Durst’s bizarre little solo for said honor.

He is far from being the best, but it is also very hard to dog and shit on a guitar player that is known internationally that plays in a successfull band while i myself being a decent guitar player am a nobody that the world will never here of so with all the negative shit out there about CC Deville i tip my hat to CC and respect him for he has accomplished what i've always dreamed of becoming.

So what CC was gakked out of his mind back when I was 6 years old Nothing But A Good Time and Sweet Child Of Mine was dominating MTV and that year for Halloween I dressed up as CC Devile got a blonde wig and found the type of clothes he wore of course that was difficult cuz I was 6 it was very difficult
I saw a worse one in San Diego in the 80's when they opened for Loudness. C.C. was running around in circles, got dizzy, fell into his stacks and knocked them over into Akira's! Almost a domino effect.

Andy Salter seriously, yes. The tone is pretty bad combined with some chromatic garbage at the beginning but he actually covered a lot of melodic ground and slowed it down at the end. Not the best but he did alright
is what I tried to say, it is not the best but it did well, slash, and several guitarists of the time have done garbage, but of course CC de ville has always been criticized and poison metal glam band, there is no credibility, but in reality to be the worst solo in history is exaggerated

By no means is it an amazing or artistic solo, but by far it isn't the worst of all time either. I can only think of a handful of guitar player in any of today's "rock" bands would be able to pull this off.
