Mine too... I listen to the Beach Boys every morning to help shape my day to be positive... Thank you Brian Wilson for providing me with a natural anti depressant through your piano keys.. God bless Brian.
Anglynn74 I knew when I was 13 years old that I wanted to write like him. Of course it’s pure folly to think I could ever come close but I did get validated by Nashville as a songwriter so thank you Brian
I grew up in england. At start of beatles era. I met my first wife who introduce me to the Beachboys. Fifty years later i am on my third wife. But i still. love the Beachboys. They are in my soul.
Well, it's poetic, it's beautiful, and passionate. That's about all you need, that and Wilson's charisma. He showed tremendous balls making pet sounds when no one believed in him.
Everytime I listen to this I am reminded of the delicious era of 60s music. I love that look ("What the hell was that?") at 2:55 when the pianist plays a sour note. That was "the look" that the Beach Boys dreaded during a live performance.
This footage from mid 2001 is totally fascinating !! God - They all look so much younger .. only some 8 years ago. As GOOD as this session is ... it's also easy, by today's comparison, to see that BW has indeed come along in leaps & bounds since then. Today, his voice is purer, sweeter ; he's far more comfortable & happier, performing on-stage. He's expelled even more of his demons since 2001, & just look at his masterpiece achievements since then .. Pet Sounds + Lucky Old Sun. Amen BW !
So beautiful!! Brian's singing is just superb here and so is Darien's keyboard playing! So under-produced and in its simplicity, just lovely and totally enjoyable. Perfection!
gpiano88 ....... Unique in their own right? Uh, I think "unique" covers it. Check with The Department of Redundancy Department for confirming confirmation. "Genius of the soul" ???? I never realized Beach Boy fans were such a bunch of geeks. No wonder the Beach Boys tanked.
whoa! those BGVs are really in spanish! I've been trying forever to figure those out. You can even hear Taylor Mills say somthing about "speaking spanish" at the fade out of the video. Thanks for the video!
Wow, terrific video! Nice harmonies form the band. I'm assuming that this is the nucleus of the band that he re-recorded "Smile" with. Thanks so much for the post.
All of the lead-ish vocals at that one part are as follows: Sometimes I feel very sad, ain't found the right thing I can put my heart and soul into, people I know don't wanna be where I'm at. Throughout that whole exchange, there are Spanish backing vocals which I just found out were in Spanish. I don't know what they say, though.
@dmcguire70 I think the words are actually, "Can't find the right thing I can put my heart ..." If I'm hearing it correctly. One of several songs on PS that I cannot listen to only once. Always gets repeated at least twice. I wish I could rent Darian Sahanaja for a day so he could teach me this awesome chord progression correctly on the piano. Pure magic! Love these guys to death!!
Quite an impressive addition to Brian's band line-up, just on the aesthetics alone .. don't you think, loren1283 .. not to mention TM's sweet background vocals.
4) He´s not resting on a beach and doing nothing like most of the. 5)He´s the gratest, sings incredibly for his almost SEVENTY years old (I look forward to hear you singing at 70 baby), and 4) Say something intelligent, or, if I was you, I´d better shut up.
@perkyporkpie yes, it is. I don't know how you get the ability to write this stuff.....but there are few composers who can match it. Yes, this song has a lot of heart and soul in it.....
Pet Sounds changed my life.
Changed everything.
Mine too... I listen to the Beach Boys every morning to help shape my day to be positive... Thank you Brian Wilson for providing me with a natural anti depressant through your piano keys.. God bless Brian.
The mine too
Its changing in these times
Pet Sounds flipped my world upsidedown in the most profoundly beautiful way
it wasn't till I got older that I began to really appreciate Brian as a songwriter, a deep songwriter. with age comes wisdom.
ME TOO
Tony Asher wrote the lyrics on pet sounds
Anglynn74 I knew when I was 13 years old that I wanted to write like him. Of course it’s pure folly to think I could ever come close but I did get validated by Nashville as a songwriter so thank you Brian
Tomatoo yeah but it doesn’t even need lyrics this stuff stands up instrumentally
I'm 14 and I see it already.
He did it, he sang falsetto. Still angel highs.

Brian is an amazing person. After all the ups and down he is still here with us making music which definitely says something about the human spirit.
Brian's voice sounds really nice in this.
Isn't this just one of the most beautiful hymns you've ever heard?
I grew up in england. At start of beatles era. I met my first wife who introduce me to the Beachboys. Fifty years later i am on my third wife. But i still. love the Beachboys. They are in my soul.
Wow the background harmonies on this video are just superb, and so is Brian's lead :-)

2:50 lol his face at the wrong piano note
2001 to 2021 the world has finally caught up to Brian's song. These are the times he made for us.

My all time favorite beach boys record, its so beautiful
I cant even comprehend how a person can write music like this. insane
God Bless you Brian Wilson. You not only gave the world a song to sing, but a lyric to think about. Much love.
i cant even begin to say how much i love Brian and his music
"what are we doing? I just wasn't made for these times..."
and then the beauty flows!
This is priceless. Hearing a raw rehearsal like this shows the awesome talent and deep commitment of Brian's band.

Pet sounds change my life, thanks Brian.
those harmonies are amazing, that and that whistling section.
So beautiful!! Brian's singing is just superb here and so is Darien's keyboard playing! So under-produced and in its simplicity, just lovely and totally enjoyable. Perfection!
Amen. I'm only 35 years old and when I was 7 year old my mom bought me Endless Summer on vinyl. I still have that album and will NEVER get rid of it.
Brian at the end "Pretty cool."
Brian did great im so proud of him God Bless
Is there such a thing as the genius of the soul? If there is, Brian Wilson is the definition of it. " God only knows" the true nature of such souls.
gpiano88 the Rascals were one of them
Parssa Garoosi I loved them as well. They were unique in their own right.
gpiano88 ....... Unique in their own right? Uh, I think "unique" covers it. Check with The Department of Redundancy Department for confirming confirmation. "Genius of the soul" ???? I never realized Beach Boy fans were such a bunch of geeks. No wonder the Beach Boys tanked.
I would sell my soul to be around that piano singing with them.

1!!wow - just found this song - so timeless, yet retro - great job Brian !
Not exactly, the translation is "when will I be? one day, I will be". I'm amazed, I wasn't aware about those lines in spanish. Excelente.
This is the first song that ever turned me onto The Beach Boys music! Brian singing this well here!
I like the piano playing in this song.
I love his K structure on his songs.....
He sounds great here
Wow, terrific video! Nice harmonies form the band. I'm assuming that this is the nucleus of the band that he re-recorded "Smile" with. Thanks so much for the post.
His singing has gotten better, at times, than it was in this video. He has trained with a voice coach to help him.
