Mine too... I listen to the Beach Boys every morning to help shape my day to be positive... Thank you Brian Wilson for providing me with a natural anti depressant through your piano keys.. God bless Brian.
Well, it's poetic, it's beautiful, and passionate. That's about all you need, that and Wilson's charisma. He showed tremendous balls making pet sounds when no one believed in him.
I grew up in england. At start of beatles era. I met my first wife who introduce me to the Beachboys. Fifty years later i am on my third wife. But i still. love the Beachboys. They are in my soul.
Everytime I listen to this I am reminded of the delicious era of 60s music. I love that look ("What the hell was that?") at 2:55 when the pianist plays a sour note. That was "the look" that the Beach Boys dreaded during a live performance.
This footage from mid 2001 is totally fascinating !! God - They all look so much younger .. only some 8 years ago. As GOOD as this session is ... it's also easy, by today's comparison, to see that BW has indeed come along in leaps & bounds since then. Today, his voice is purer, sweeter ; he's far more comfortable & happier, performing on-stage. He's expelled even more of his demons since 2001, & just look at his masterpiece achievements since then .. Pet Sounds + Lucky Old Sun. Amen BW !
So beautiful!! Brian's singing is just superb here and so is Darien's keyboard playing! So under-produced and in its simplicity, just lovely and totally enjoyable. Perfection!
All of the lead-ish vocals at that one part are as follows: Sometimes I feel very sad, ain't found the right thing I can put my heart and soul into, people I know don't wanna be where I'm at. Throughout that whole exchange, there are Spanish backing vocals which I just found out were in Spanish. I don't know what they say, though.
whoa! those BGVs are really in spanish! I've been trying forever to figure those out. You can even hear Taylor Mills say somthing about "speaking spanish" at the fade out of the video. Thanks for the video!
@dmcguire70 I think the words are actually, "Can't find the right thing I can put my heart ..." If I'm hearing it correctly. One of several songs on PS that I cannot listen to only once. Always gets repeated at least twice. I wish I could rent Darian Sahanaja for a day so he could teach me this awesome chord progression correctly on the piano. Pure magic! Love these guys to death!!
4) He´s not resting on a beach and doing nothing like most of the. 5)He´s the gratest, sings incredibly for his almost SEVENTY years old (I look forward to hear you singing at 70 baby), and 4) Say something intelligent, or, if I was you, I´d better shut up.
@perkyporkpie yes, it is. I don't know how you get the ability to write this stuff.....but there are few composers who can match it. Yes, this song has a lot of heart and soul in it.....
@dmcguire70 just wondering. how did you find that out? i just about managed to get it up to the 'can't find' part. the 'people i know' part is impossible O_0
You know Kudos to you Wilson fans but let's be brutally honest, he really needs to hang it up. I mean come on. You know, write for someone, compose for someone but he has no business singing AT ALL!
Anglynn74 I knew when I was 13 years old that I wanted to write like him. Of course it’s pure folly to think I could ever come close but I did get validated by Nashville as a songwriter so thank you Brian
1) you obviously know nothing about Brian´s story. 2) I prefer all the way Wilson still performing than any, ANY new little 20 year-olders band like... you know, whatever Monkeys and Donkeys around MTV. 3)This is the best thing the can do (wht did YOU give to the world?) and THANK GOD we can still enjoy him! and you know.. he has the right to do whatever he wants, man.
Wow, terrific video! Nice harmonies form the band. I'm assuming that this is the nucleus of the band that he re-recorded "Smile" with. Thanks so much for the post.
gpiano88 ....... Unique in their own right? Uh, I think "unique" covers it. Check with The Department of Redundancy Department for confirming confirmation. "Genius of the soul" ???? I never realized Beach Boy fans were such a bunch of geeks. No wonder the Beach Boys tanked.
Brian is an amazing person. After all the ups and down he is still here with us making music which definitely says something about the human spirit.
Isn't this just one of the most beautiful hymns you've ever heard?
This genius made the Beatles change the way they wrote their music ... Nuff Said!
Oh, do tell!
@@Eragarev ~ he doesn’t have to…… the Beatles admitted it.
2:50 lol his face at the wrong piano note
"Can't find nothin' I can put my heart and soul into". I think he did. :)
Oh my god this version is amazing
Pet Sounds changed my life.
Changed everything.
Mine too... I listen to the Beach Boys every morning to help shape my day to be positive... Thank you Brian Wilson for providing me with a natural anti depressant through your piano keys.. God bless Brian.
The mine too
Its changing in these times
Pet Sounds flipped my world upsidedown in the most profoundly beautiful way
Well, it's poetic, it's beautiful, and passionate. That's about all you need, that and Wilson's charisma. He showed tremendous balls making pet sounds when no one believed in him.
All praise to Brian. You don't judge Brian.....you LISTEN to him.........
I grew up in england. At start of beatles era. I met my first wife who introduce me to the Beachboys. Fifty years later i am on my third wife. But i still. love the Beachboys. They are in my soul.
My all time favorite beach boys record, its so beautiful
i cant even begin to say how much i love Brian and his music

Cuando seré
Un Día Seré
Oh Cuando seré
jaja, muy bien Brian!! muy buena frase para la canción.
I didn't even know there was Spanish in the lyric😮😮😮
This is heartbreaking.
I know
Amen. I'm only 35 years old and when I was 7 year old my mom bought me Endless Summer on vinyl. I still have that album and will NEVER get rid of it.
I would sell my soul to be around that piano singing with them.
Pet sounds change my life, thanks Brian.

I like the piano playing in this song.
I love his K structure on his songs.....
He sounds great here
This is the first song that ever turned me onto The Beach Boys music! Brian singing this well here!
Haha, Taylor is making faces at the camera during the count-in.
Brian sounds great in this!
Thanks so much for sharing.
1 of my top 3 fav Beach Boy songs.
Sometimes I feel very sad 😢

amazing
all time great genius classic song
I love this raw version, it's just so pure and beautiful. Forever my favorite Beach Boys song.
Thank you so much for sharing!!!...You just made my night(Brian and the gang deserve a little credit too:)

pure magic
This is like watching an angel singing in heaven.
For a scaled down rehearsal this sounds very good. I wish the concert they were rehearsing for would show up on RUclips.
Some Wondermints people in the background :) I LOVE THEM!!!!!!!!!!
My writing inspiration
SO good.
pretty cool. love the understatement.
sublime
2:50 love that side-eye from Brian at that little piano goof haha
Great
@alexandertarangerkin Haven;'t heard it, but does not surprise me. Brian was drop dead serious about the quality of his performances.........
I was gonna ask if that was Foskett. Didn't know he toured with Brian's band.
Tony Soprano has a beautiful voice
lol!!!, get his real name cus he sings awesome, theres a live version in which he sings too and kills it
Jeffrey Foskett
Hahahaha noice
@@NorbertVarga Very underrated...musician....
Genio..genio...genio...

WOW
Can someone tell me the lyrics for the backing vocals? I really can't find what they say
Grandpa Brian! :D
Good!
@dmcguire70 just wondering. how did you find that out? i just about managed to get it up to the 'can't find' part.
the 'people i know' part is impossible O_0
This is great. Also check out on RUclips Brian singing McCartney's Wanderlust.....it's gorgeous.....and owes something to Saint-Saens' Symphony 3.
2:50
I've never heard spanish backups (and it's my first language). What song is supposed to have them?
Lol Beach Boys Forever🍻
what does the back vocal of the chorus says?
'cuando sere- un dia sere'
those chords are so weird/awesome
that does sound really real
and pretty cool
What is the lyric that the background singers sing during the chorus?
¿Cuando sere?
¡Un dia sere!
Brian sounds almost identical to Pet Sounds version, but the choral lineup is too loud. I realize this is just a practice though. Beautiful Song!
Absolutely amazing!!! And he hits the high notes, wow. Miss Taylor Mills on recent tours.
Yeah, that was cute.
Brian always looks like he's in Another place
-I guess he just wasn't made for this humdrum existence...
Are you sure about this line??? I always thought it was, "People I know, don't want me"
That blonde is hot.
hey! on my 3rd b day lol
chords ??
Anybody know who the babe is?
Taylor Mills.
lol wow ten months later, and still only one dislike.
I clicked thumbs up instead of thumbs down, and it wont let me undo it :/ Your comment is bad and you should feel bad.
Is that blond dude Mike Love's long lost son? 😮
No. That's Scott Bennett.
Jeff Foskett looks like he needed Dr. Landy's exercise therapy here. He looks almost as big as Brian was circa 1982.
uncalled for
Foskett was easily bigger than Brian at his heaviest.
dat musical ear.
like Paul McCartney said. "Brian Wilson's should be donated to the Smithsonian."
Seriously
When is Foskette’s baby due ?
irrational people are very angry - just want attention

Writing and singing keep the voices in his head quiet. His memoir is great and enlightening.
His performance of Smile in London in 2004 was pretty darn good.
Those piano chords are so beautiful! Makes for a different listening experience if this classic
Absolutely amazing!!! And he hits the high notes, wow. Miss Taylor Mills on recent tours.
He did it, he sang falsetto. Still angel highs.

Thank you!
Yes awesome!
I adore Brian. Always have. Gentle and brilliant, humble and quick witted. Please live forever, you amazing man!
it wasn't till I got older that I began to really appreciate Brian as a songwriter, a deep songwriter. with age comes wisdom.
ME TOO
Tony Asher wrote the lyrics on pet sounds
Anglynn74 I knew when I was 13 years old that I wanted to write like him. Of course it’s pure folly to think I could ever come close but I did get validated by Nashville as a songwriter so thank you Brian
Tomatoo yeah but it doesn’t even need lyrics this stuff stands up instrumentally
I'm 14 and I see it already.
God Bless you Brian Wilson. You not only gave the world a song to sing, but a lyric to think about. Much love.
His singing has gotten better, at times, than it was in this video. He has trained with a voice coach to help him.
Not exactly, the translation is "when will I be? one day, I will be". I'm amazed, I wasn't aware about those lines in spanish. Excelente.
Brian's voice sounds really nice in this.
This is priceless. Hearing a raw rehearsal like this shows the awesome talent and deep commitment of Brian's band.
2001 to 2021 the world has finally caught up to Brian's song. These are the times he made for us.
"what are we doing? I just wasn't made for these times..."
and then the beauty flows!
Wow the background harmonies on this video are just superb, and so is Brian's lead :-)
Brian always picks up on the slightest thing. He always looks at someone when playing as if to say ''Im watching you''
Brian es un genio no me cabe duda para mi es el mas grande musico de todos los tiempos
ビーチボーイズの中でこの曲が一番好き

Is there such a thing as the genius of the soul? If there is, Brian Wilson is the definition of it. " God only knows" the true nature of such souls.
gpiano88 the Rascals were one of them
Parssa Garoosi I loved them as well. They were unique in their own right.
