Oh Brian, you definitely WERE made for these times! You were and always will be a brilliant individual! I grew up singing your songs and I am so happy you were made for these times. After everything you went through in your life, to still be able to sing and write music today is definitely a gift from God, both for you and us, your fans! Thank you Brian!
You’ll never read this Brian but I hope that someone has told you, in your darkest moments that you’ve shone a light for others in their darkest moments and that this has been some comfort to you.
@@davinirsom you are absolutely correct. And even with that being true , he is STILL underappreciated. (If you know what I mean.) That's how great he is.
I have never related to a song more in my 25 years of life. I’m so miserable and depressed 24/7. This song speaks to me on an extremely personal level. I love you Brian wilson. You make it so much easier to get thru this. I just wasn’t made for these times
Thanks all. I’m not. In fact even worse. 26 now though. This song though I tell ya, still is my go to. Over 2000+ plays on Apple Music 😂 you can tell my original comments holds some weight to it.
I'm struggling with my mental health this song explains how I'm feeling sometimes I feel depressed anxiety + losing myself This song help me with my mental health
idk why but everytime i hear a wilson song i just think this man is a fucking genius even though i love others i never feel the same as much as i do with him
He expresses his feelings in the best possible way and inspires others to do the same. It's amazing how this honest song written in the mid 60s is still helping people to deal with their sadness and depression
“Where do I turn, when my fair-weather friends cop-out”, What’s it all about?” Brian Wilson, blessings on you forever, from 70 year old female, who is so grateful that you were of my same time, because you, and your music, and the lyrics, helped a young woman back there, feel like someone else was struggling, and wondering, why she just didn’t seem to fit in, even sometimes with the people she was closest to in her world of trying to mature, and find her own pathway to being able to do it. And I now know, I certainly wasn’t the only one who felt that way, and a lot of the time. You can never know just how much you helped people, when they needed it, and what you meant to them, and more than 50 years later, you STILL are, and always HAVE, been helping all along the way. There aren’t enough words in the English language to thank you for that, ever; but, I just tried. You are just the best! ❤️🥰💯
Thankfully someone had the presence of mind, to post this wonderful video! It’s the only live performance I could find of this extraordinary, incredible, beautiful song. Brian is at his best during his fabulous orchestrated piece! One word...ENCORE!!!
Brian was always a weird mixture of an old soul, but also being kind of childish and then the hard living and medications quickly made him seem barely any younger than in this video despite being like half the age.
@D1g1talUnderd0g lmao, you are clueless. Yes, Brian Wilson produced and wrote Pet Sounds without the rest of the group and they BITTERLY complained about the songs when recording vocals. They also BITTERLY complained about Smile during every recording session. They were mostly interested in Money and Pop Songs, Brian was interested in wherever the music took him. Dennis Wilson was the only Beach Boy who really supported Brian when he didn't want to do FUN+SUN songs. As Dennis said best: "Brian Wilson is The Beach Boys,' 'He is the band. We're his fucking messengers. He is all of it. Period. We're nothing. He's everything."
“No one wants to help me look for places where new things might be found” I truly believe that if his whole band would’ve been supportive of his direction, The Beach Boys would be as culturally revered as the Beatles, but sadly it was a struggle to get mike love to understand the songs if it wasn’t some surface level shit about cars or surf boards
I feel that in terms of musical performance itself, definitely... But in terms of singing, I think that each one provided a unique voice and unbelievable sense of harmony.
I keep lookin' for a place to fit in Where I can speak my mind And I've been tryin' hard to find the people That I won't leave behind They say I got brains But they ain't doin' me no good I wish they could Each time things start to happen again I think I got somethin' good goin' for myself But what goes wrong Sometimes I feel very sad Sometimes I feel very sad (Ain't found the right thing I can put my heart and soul into) Sometimes I feel very sad (Ain't found the right thing I can put my heart and soul into) I guess I just wasn't made for these times Every time I get the inspiration To go change things around No one wants to help me look for places Where new things might be found Where can I turn when my fair weather friends cop out What's it all about Each time things start to happen again I think I got somethin' good goin' for myself But what goes wrong Sometimes I feel very sad Sometimes I feel very sad (ain't found the right thing I can put my heart and soul into) Sometimes I feel very sad (ain't found the right thing I can put my heart and soul into) I guess I just wasn't made for these times I guess I just wasn't made for these times I guess I just wasn't made for these times I guess I just wasn't made for these times I guess I just wasn't made for these times I guess I just wasn't made for these times
His singing, ESPECIALLY at his age during this show, is nothing short of a fucking miracle! There was a time in the late 70s/early 80s that Brian's voice was considered beyond repair, what with being overweight, over medicated by Landy, smoking 3 packs a day, snorting a ton of blow, etc, etc. For him, a man who is diagnosed with schizo-affective disorder with auditory hallucinations, to come back to lead the stage and perform the greatest album of all time... and perform it so damned well, is a truly extraordinary and inspiring feat!! Butcher this song??? Piss off man✌️
Brian’s singing here is extraordinary
Very sensitive song
At some parts of the video like 0:31, we can almost hear a tiny glimpse of his breathtaking falsetto from the 60s.

A very underappreciated man and magnificent composer, writer and producer. This guy is one of the very best out there.
“Underappreciated”

Telling my boomer parents that they had music describing depression such as this
The Beatles - I'm a Loser
