Since you used 2 x 2 wood, if you wanted to, you could install some inside foam insulation to make it warmer in the colder trips with your dog. Wouldn't add much of any weight and would help the heat stay inside on the colder days... Just an idea...
I don’t know where you get this idea but there are brilliant! I said it before and I’ll say it again you’re so creative this bike cabin is so cool❣️looking forward your next invention ❤until then stay safe stay strong and god bless🙏✌🏼❤️
The whole time I kept thinking that you could insert the stuff that we used to have in our cheap igloos that we bought at the convenience store. Just some foam paneling in each place to insulate you a little bit from the cold.
This was great Jack, thank you. I know you prefer to be out in the woods, but subscribers like myself love videos like this. Since 1985 I've bought, renovated and flipped many houses, but I've never built anything like your bike cabin. Blessings to you, Rylie, Olivia and Ellie!
I love how you so readily admit that you're not a carpenter but it doesn't stop you from making your creations come true. I do appreciate your adventure videos more but it was interesting to see the build. Looking forward to your next video. Maybe a morning or afternoon tiny cabin adventure with the family. Hot cocoa and Christmas cookies anyone? 😄
Love this idea! Two things … (1) you should make a folding bike cabin that folds via a frame so that way there’s less length behind the bike … and (2) Has anyone ever commented that you look similar to Aaron Rodgers?
hi mate , I just want to say it's lovely to see how appreciative you are to God for your basics needs such as your food, your campers, and generally your appreciation to God for all the blessings he gives, like the beautiful places and woods , rivers, etc, it's a blessing to me to see this in your videos, I'm really enjoying your channel, as I have had some mental health difficulties aswell, keep making your videos mate , from Tony from Bedfordshire, England
No solar ?? Think about swapping the camper wheels , and installing 2000watt bike hub on each side, 400 watt solar panel,1500watt inverter with a 200ah battery, maybe design a canopy over the bike another 400watt solar panel. And you could travel with the weather. And yes I know “ the weight “ I bet you could go 200+ miles with small refrigerator, microwave, Coleman stove. Damn that sounds fun 👍, and yes yours is cost, more practical, great job too 👍👍
Two things come to mind. 1. Aluminum studs may be lighter. 2. A three sided outer foam insulation sleeve, that would slide on for winter/summer. It would be quieter, warmer/cooler and would have the roof glued on. I make cat houses from styrofoam coolers that are light and warm and can be heated with a low watt incandescent light bulb.
I just love your little tiny houses, I'm 71 years young and want to go camping with my daughter and grand kids so I've been looking for ideas to build or buy a small camper .yours are so perfect, but a little too small for 2 adults and 2 young kids. I have enjoyed all your videos
That was cool. I love how you kept the same color scheme as the tiny cabin. Looking forward to your next video. How is Ellie doing 🐕? Hope all is well! Say hi to Rylie and Olivia 👋 Happy trails 🤗🏕💕
Thank you for sharing the build on the bike cabin. That was very interesting. It is an experience because it shows you the origins of what we see and I really like that. I had a lot of questions in my head about how you did it and they were all answered. Plus, I believe it is also inspirational to others. Thanks again.
Love building journey. An there was Ellie as supervisor making sure everything was looking good 👍 🐶. Take care to all. Looking forward to seeing your next journey.
I Love how humble you are! I really missed the girl’s ! Love your lil family & Love seeing Mn. again. I am thrilled Ellie is well! Hope your holiday was Blessed. ❤ to the beautiful girl’s!🙏🙏🙏Blessing’s
This is a great video because it shows that with some basic carpentry skills, this doesn't have to be a daunting process. I'm glad you did this and I'm sure many are inspired by it!
Thank you for sharing this Jack. I love your videos. They inspire me to live my best life and go for it with the wild adventures. This one really inspired me to just go for it on creating a design for a portable structure I want to make for my property (bike cabin duplicate wouldn't quite work for where I need to get it to). Reminded me it doesn't have to be that complicated or overthought. And I can just go for it now, instead of delaying it out of overthinking and stressing. Seeing your build helped too to see that what I want to do can be done similarly for keeping down weight and the walls can be simple and done with the thin plywood and stuff. Thanks for bringing some excitement and adventure to my day!
👋 Im really enjoying all your videos and following your adventures from here in the south east UK 😀 They are helping me through a difficult patch. Thank you. Such a relief Ellie is doing well again. Wheeler Peak was awesome. 😀👏🏻
Excellent video! And thank you for sharing the build. Hope all is well with everyone. I shared with you about a couple weeks ago, in a comment, that I was currently in the process of building myself a cabin on wheels, so my update on that is, currently in the process. I found an excellent deal on a 5x10 trailer, and im currently putting a new floor on it, and should be starting the walls maybe this week, or next week. Can't wait for that. But once again, thank you for the inspiration and keep the videos coming. Cheers!!
Great job, only 2 things i would suggest for future reference - 1. Maybe paint the entire thing, roof, walls, under floor with 2 coats of water proofing paint and 2. The high end of the camper roof section needs a flashing or you will get rain water coming in. Hope this helps, oh one last observation why don’t you pull the camper from the other side (low side roof) would it not be more aerodynamic and less drag for you and the bike?
Hi Jack .. I really enjoyed the making of the bike cabin., you made it look so easy. Thank you for sharing your build. Looking forward to the next video ❤😊
I love your experiential videos, but these videos are amazing, too. Showing other novice carpenters how to build their own "vehicles" to have their own experiences in nature is a very cool thing and in line with your love of nature and storytelling. Thanks for sharing this. Give me an idea to make my own bike camper and plan some backwoods adventures of my own soon!
Thanks for the build video, that was really interesting! It's cool how something so small on the outside can be so roomy and comfortable 😊 on the inside.
Thank you. I used to be a maintenance man for the mobile home community that I live in. I really like your design, over the years I have accumulated a lot of end cuts and materials from doing repairs on mobile homes, so I might use some of those in making a bike cabin. But as you pointed out its critical to keep the weight down. About the only thing I'd like to add is a 98 inch stainless-steel CB. antenna for my transceiver. And maybe a solar cell panel to keep my storage battery topped off. And an E bike to tow the cabin with. 😊
@@TinyCabinLife Until I came to my senses! A 98 inch stainless-steel CB antenna? What was I thinking? Why not just run a lightning rod cable up my butt?! What an idiot...
New subscriber here - so glad your A-frame cabin video came up on my feed because I have been able to see a few of your other videos now. You seem to have the gift of actually being able to build what you envision. I'm a crafter, and believe me, I rarely get with hot glue or ribbon what I envision in my head. Being claustrophobic, your bike cabin might be a challenge for me, but your A-frame cabin is adorable and would be so fun to experience. I do believe, after watching tons of tiny cabin videos, your cabins win in their tininess.
I definitely enjoyed seeing the build process of how you got to where you are with the bike camper. I would like to show you some trails in Idaho to take it on.
I really want to make one of these but really needed a starting point. You have a lot of great Ideas I can work with and (because of my height) modify to fit my needs. Like using wood to mount the wheels, Foam board insulation especially under the floor.
Those are all great ideas 👍🏽 the weight definitely starts to add up. Mine is way to heavy as is right now. I realized that I want to modify it to be better in trails as opposed to just roads. It’s great on a normal road, but anything rough and it literally gets rough
Thanks for sharing this journey with me. Hope all is well with ladies ? Tell them hello n i send i send my hugs n love . God Bless Ya'll. Safe Travels Always. Mucho Love from your friend in Michigan Tam ❤️ ♥️ 💕
A tip to make it stronger without adding any weight is to run a bead of wood glue along each 2x2 where you're screwing your panels down. Much more rigid and resistant to road shocks and vibrations.

Since I first started watching your videos and saw your bike cabin or bikabin as I call it, I started thinking of possibly making my own modelled after yours somewhat…. I am currently in the process of getting my own e-bike, so something like that would come in handy since I enjoy camping but haven’t gone in years. I grew up in the country, basically the middle of no-where so all I need to do is go down some of the back roads near my parents place or old logging roads and find a place to ‘camp’ there…. I don’t own a vehicle nor have a license, so my bike is my only transportation. I have a normal bicycle for when I just want to bike for the enjoyment of it, my E-bike will be for work/appointments/etc.
@@TinyCabinLife - thanks, I will send you pics when I get the E-bike. I am hoping that I will have it sometime this summer so I have the summer weather to get use to it, maybe practise in a few empty parking lots…😁 I am also playing with the idea of putting a little skylight in the ceiling so I can lay there at night and look up at the stars before falling asleep. Plus a couple solar panels to help keep the few electronics I will have charged up, I saw the solar panel suggestion in one of the comments and thought it a good idea.
Well, it's built, and more recently with a wood stove. Now all you need is a small battery box perhaps built onto the out side back of the cabin and some solar panels. I am willing to bet that you could have the room to put 400 watts of panels on that there roof
Great video. What are the plywood thickness' you used? Im looking at something very similar for a motorcycle camper/cabin. Thanks for the video. Keep it up.
Love the Bike Camper. Thanks for taking the time to show us how you built it. I do have one question though as there are two measurements missing. How tall is it on each end? Hard to guestimate in the video.
I appreciate that! I’ll have to measure but I believe it’s 3.5 feet at its tallest side and maybe 2 feet at the other. I wanted it just tall enough to sit up comfortably 👍🏽
Hi great video and project.could you give us a parts list ,also what size plywood did you use for the walls and floor also what's the height.thank you for sharing your video as would love to build a similar project.
Is there anything you wish you had done differently? I was wondering why you put the taller end at the front, seems like it would be more aerodynamic if the "foot end" pointed towards the front
You know, I think I would have made the floor more lightweight. It’s still pretty heavy, especially now that I’ve taken it out a half a dozen times or so. Also, more clearance on the ground and some fat tires would be great 👍🏽
Since you used 2 x 2 wood, if you wanted to, you could install some inside foam insulation to make it warmer in the colder trips with your dog. Wouldn't add much of any weight and would help the heat stay inside on the colder days... Just an idea...
Or could use bubbleplastic with alu foil, also lightweight.
Fabulous idea! And the panels could be "pop-in" style so removable in summer for warmer adventures.
I don’t know where you get this idea but there are brilliant! I said it before and I’ll say it again you’re so creative this bike cabin is so cool❣️looking forward your next invention ❤until then stay safe stay strong and god bless🙏✌🏼❤️
