Well done on the packing. People are often flabbergasted when I tell them I live out of a simple school backpack when I go for month long trips but it's absolutely doable as long as plan out your packing itinerary properly. For me personally, I always try to find accommodation with laundry facilities and thus only pack a week's worth of clothes. I also only ever wear jeans and tees so no fuss there. What usually takes up the most space are my gadgets, which I can't do without.
Hi! Thank you so much! We usually get the same type of reaction too when it comes to backpack only travel and totally agree on the no fuss outfits (we avoid overpriced restaurants). With the laundry facilities, I do my best to find those too, but a bit of elbow grease and a sink works just fine also for me! My biggest issue are my toiletries, I feel like everyone has a category they can’t do without. 😅 Thank you so much for sharing your comment, it was really interesting! 🫶🏼
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that you are only taking that for a 3-week trip. People sometimes seem to forget that there are sinks and washing machines in places they visit. I mean, if they think they need more, be my guest but travelling like you do makes life soooo much easier. "Normal" shoes are not my thing anymore, prefer barefoot ones now and they take up almost no space when you pack them. I want to be getting Earth Runners' sandals for future trips 😍 All my toiletries fit in a 1 L bag. What really helps save up space is having a shampoo/soap bar + a small conditioner bar (which does not go in the toiletry bag) and not bothering with make-up 😄 Great video!! Thanks for sharing! 🙏🏻 Have a lot of fun! 😊
Hi! Thank you and I’m glad you enjoyed the video! I would love to go barefoot but as a runner I feel like I need the support in my shoes! 😅 And I’m still searching for a shampoo and conditioner bar that is cruelty free and doesn’t dry out my hair, if you know of any please let me know! And 100% agree with all your other points about being able to wash clothes and travel lighter! Thanks so much for watching 🫶🏼
Hi! That is a great idea! I only have 2 days at home after this trip before I have to pack for a week in NYC! I may or may not have the time to record that when I’m back, we’ll see 😅 thanks so much for watching! 🫶🏼
Great video! I’m so impressed you only take that amount of stuff for 3 weeks! It’s inspiring, really. I was always an overpacked, and learning so much from great content creators like you to be more minimalist, baby steps yet.. 😊
Hi Patricia! Thank you for watching and I’m glad you found this video helpful! Baby steps is definitely the way to go, I don’t think anyone became minimalist overnight! 🫶🏼
This is so impressive. I’d love to try this. A couple of suggestions I’ve found that may be able to help you save more space - a memobottle is a thin water bottle, a thin comb instead of a hair brush and a kindle. All have been game changers for me!
Hi! Thank you so much! Love these suggestions but unfortunately my hair is so long and thick that I can’t just use a thin comb, it’ll take me forever to do anything with my hair 😩 the memo bottle is an interesting one, I’ll have to look into that! And for the Kindle, I have mentioned in previous comments that I prefer physical books still 😅 but I always make sure to pack paperback and shorter novels for travel! 🫶🏼
Somehow i am just now discovering this bag in the last few weeks and I am in LOVE with it!! It's very simplistic and i love it! reminds me of my old 1980's Jansport backpacks only better! I've somehow bought 5 in the last 2 weeks in different sizes and colors because i can't make up my mind and i LOVE THEM ALL!!
I admire the taking of Library books overseas - I can’t even bring myself to take them on a weekend away! I really like taking books from the charity shop or street library, so I can leave them when I finished them, or swap them for a new read.
That's amazing!!! I hope the minimalism purist comments doesn't bother you. Unlike the Kanken, minimalism isn't one size fits all (I'm loving this pun) and I'm loving what you're doing with your Kanken!! I love watching people one-bagging with Kanken, since it's my all time favorite bag and I'm so happy to see someone doing this!!
Hi Jane! Thank you so much for your kind words and I’m glad you’re enjoying my Kanken packing videos, I am also obsessed with these! 🤣 And no, the purist comments do not bother me at all, when I started my channel I knew there would be opposing opinions. It happens when you put yourself out there online! Viewers like yourselves make it worth it, so a massive thank you again 🫶🏼
That’s so funny, i’m leaving in June for 3 months in Europe with my trusty Fjallraven 17” Kanken and my dumpling sling bag only (almost exactly the same as you 😃) For my clothing i have 6 bottom and 1 dress, 7 tops, 3 pairs of shoes, 5 underwear, 2 bras, 2 pairs of socs, one swimsuit and 1 rain jacket (this includes the clothes i will wear on the plane 😊) Thanks for your video ❤
Hi Vanessa! That’s so incredible that you are able to fit so much in the 17” Kanken 😮! Enjoy your 3 month Europe trip in June, you’ll have the best time!! Especially when you have such a little amount of luggage, you can just focus on your time there rather than stuff! 🤩 Thank you so much for sharing what you’ve packed too and for watching! 🫶🏼
@@MinimallyAnnabel thank you 😊 I forgot to mention that i’m not taking a laptop (just my iphone and my kindle) that’s a weight saver 🤪 my clothes are mostly linen, merino wool and silk so no thick and heavy fabrics. I have a kit « laundry » (a Scrubba wash bag, a Sea to summit clothing line and a few laundry sheets) and my toiletry is very minimal. I also bring a travel U shape pillow that I can open … so if i’m overpack when i come back i can sneak some cloth in it. It worked well as i already try that 2 years ago 👍 😂
At first I was thinking...yeah yeah yeah, thin clothing (no jackets, or cold weather items).. sure. BUT even so, it was packed very smart. I especially am impressed with your toiletry just because many videos packed alot in that category. I have to have a wheeled luggage so other than that, you did a excellent job :)
I was going down the rabbit hole regarding compression cubes vs. plastic vacuum bag for my upcoming trip to Spain (also in just a backpack), but after watching your one video (versus a million about packing cubes), I was sold on the vacuum bag! There was definitely more space with that method. For some reason they're not very popular, but your super organized, minimalist method is an example of how it can work perfectly. Great videos, your my one of my favorite channels already :)
Hi Chaubani! Thank you, I’m so glad my video was helpful in making your decision! They save so much more space in your backpack with them! Sadly, in my part 2: review video, I fell out of love with them because mine broke during my trip. I did explain why it probably broke (packing & repacking after short periods of time), they do work best for a trip where you’re not going to multiple destinations to prevent the wear and tear! 😊 Thank you again for enjoying my videos and for the huge compliment about my channel, it means a lot! 🫶🏼
@@MinimallyAnnabel thanks for letting me know! I saved your latest video to be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee :) I'll keep that in mind for the future - thankfully I'm doing just one destination next month but for multiple countries that's good to know!
Thanks for this. I am off on a 13 day trip and am going to take my 13L Kanken. I love KL great shopping. 🛍 I bought the Unique moon bag last time I was there. Love it
I enjoyed your video. I’m not sure why people are making such rude comments to you, if they don’t like what you have to say ….they don’t have to hit like or subscribe, but to say rude things just makes no sense to me. I guess some people… are just rude! Thanks for what you do. Appreciate your videos!
Hi Kathy! I’m glad you enjoyed this video too! I do find it quite bizarre that some viewers allow themselves to get so worked up whilst watching a video of someone packing for travel… 😂 I can only imagine how they feel when they watch something that is actually distressing... I’ve always been the same as you, where if I don’t enjoy a video I just move on. Thank you for your comments and making me smile, I appreciate viewers like yourselves! 🫶🏼
Yay! Someone who has embraced the space bags! I do use some cubes as well, but for me, the space bags are KEY for packing more in less. Also, as long as I've worn my purse as a cross-body & not taken it off, I've never had issue with it counting against me as an "extra item". Hope your trip was lovely!!
Hi Helen! Yes, I did love using the vacuum bags! They are amazing for longer trips, in future I would buy myself better quality ones (mine broke on the trip!) or possibly pack an extra one. I also love using my packing cubes and when packed correctly, they can also store a lot of clothes as well. And same for me also when it comes to a small crossbody purse, never had a problem with it being classed as an “extra item” too. Thank you for your comment and for watching! 🫶🏼
Hi Michael! Having a carry on and a daypack is really impressive too and less than most! We just prefer to not have anything on wheels 😂 thanks for watching and commenting! 🫶🏼
I did the same 2 years ago on a 3 weeks trip in asia and it was the best decision ever. Ever since never packed more than my regular backpack. 3 weeks was my longest so far, followed by many 2 wrek trips. This year I'll do 6 weeks with the backpack and am curious how it will be. :)
Hi! I love that! Traveling with just a regular backpack really is the best way to travel in my opinion too 😅 6 weeks is a really long time, I’m also curious how that will be for you too! Thanks so much for commenting and for watching! 🫶🏼
I’m visiting several cities in Italy then going on a cruise for a total of three weeks. I’m bringing a slightly bigger back pack, but this has been helpful.
These comments are wild. Like you're just sharing your packing routine. I would love to see all of their perfect lives LOL. I've subscribed, I like your videos.
Hi Rose! Some of the comments are quite funny 😂 it’s okay, they do not bother me. Thank you for watching this video too and for subscribing! I’m glad you’re enjoying them! 🫶🏼
This is great! Going to Asia soon for 5 weeks and im bringing a 36 litre backpack as my carry on and I have the same Uniqlo bag im bringing as my personal item so it was interesting seeing how much you could fit in.
Here’s a tip: there are smaller anti-chafe sticks you could bring in the future! You would have to bring multiple for 3 weeks but they are super compact so take up less space than the full size
Hi! Thank you for the tip! Yes, I also realized this too 😅 but as a minimalist I would prefer not to purchase extra things for the sake of my travel when I already have one! Thanks also for watching! 🫶🏼
Someone below commented that "baggu makes a similar crescent bag in more sizes fyi", which I thought was brilliant. If anyone finds themselves trying to size-down out of pure desire to carry the smallest, least amount as possible, it can almost become pathological, haha! Just a friendly reminder that it's okay to purchase a bag slightly larger so you don't have to take your phone cover off of your phone, so you don't have to pull your passport and credit cards out of your back to get to things you need, etc. This isn't directed at "Minimally Annabel" but I've seen people become as obsessed with minimalism as they were with maximalism and at a certain point you're no better off. No matter what you choose, you should feel less encumbered, if that makes sense. Happy travels, all!
Hi Jessica! I always stress that minimalism isn’t about having nothing or carrying the least amount of things possible. I personally used this crescent bag as it was something I already had (as a minimalist I don’t purchase things unnecessarily) and I knew once I had eaten my snacks I would be left with a rather empty bag. I like the message that you’re sending here. I think it’s important that people do what’s best for them and RUclipsrs like myself are just here to share what we do, but by no means want people to think this is what they ‘should’ be doing as a minimalist. Minimalism is not black and white, it’s a lifestyle that’s supposed to help people focus on the things in life that are more meaningful than just things. I know it has helped me but not delusional to the fact that it is not for everyone. Thank you for your comment! 🫶🏼
@@MinimallyAnnabel This comment wasn't directed at you, as you know. I do hope it helps someone shift their perspective, or gives them a moment of pause, if they find themselves trying to cram too much into a tiny bag. It can be dangerous in many places to take your credit card/passport/money/phone out of your bag unnecessarily. I hope everyone is very gentle with themselves as they adjust to a level of minimalism that feeds their soul. My comment is for whoever it resonates with. I hope it helps someone!
@@MinimallyAnnabelI absolutely get the feel of a book, the pages, holding it, the paper etc….nothing can replace it. Having said that, for a week or few days away I go to the dark side and use my phone and tablet. 😀
I’ve used the Lush ‘Honey I washed my hair’ shampoo bar for 9 years now, so can recommend it. Clean product, but has honey, so not vegan friendly. Also can be used for soap if needed (lathers up a lot so goes a long way, lasts many months, if not a year for me). Haven’t used conditioner for last 6-7 years. Bought it in London, but they sell here in NZ too (and in US, I looked it up). I’ve tried other bars and found them drying too. My hair is long, thick and mostly straight (doesn’t get washed very often these days, unless somewhere hot or lots of swimming 😂)
Hi! I have a friend who swears by Lush products too! It’s incredible that you have been using it for 9 years, it shows that it’s an excellent product. Sadly, I couldn’t find Lush on the Leaping Bunny shopping guide. 😔 With Ethique, I decided to go for the St Clements shampoo and the Wonderbar conditioner after using the trial pack, so far they have not dried out my hair which is great! I also went for one of their body butters to see how well it works. Thanks for your comments and for watching! 🫶🏼
Omg 😱 You can fit all those stuff in that tiny bag! 🙇🏻♀️ You’re the best!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 South East Asia is very hot. I would recommend you bring a hat if there’s a space somewhere 🤣
What I do on the road: I put the keys, a wallet with cards in your backpack or luggage as you never need them, take a passport only. Car key is not needed when you are away, home key is only needed on the last day. With the pills I would put extras in the backpack, in the small bag a very small box with 3 tablets of each item max, same with the spare phone don’t need it on the flight. With snacks you can easily carry them in a backpack pocket and upon entering the airplane just chuck them in your seat pocket I travel minimally but also with 2 young kids😅😊
Hi Anastasia! My car key I did end up leaving at home at the last minute, my in laws wanted to help run both mine and my husband’s car whilst we were away for the 3 weeks. My car is used and it didn’t come with a spare key for them anyway 😅 The house key was kept in my Altoids box, it’s so small so I kept it somewhere I’d remember! For my cards and passport holder, I’d rather keep together and we did use our cards at the airport. I don’t use Apple Pay by choice. But thanks for all the other suggestions to consider! And thank you for watching! 🫶🏼
depending on where in southeast asia you travel to, you could always buy facial products & shampoo/conditioner there too, because in my experience, it's usually good quality, natural, and cheap ;) (I have been to india several times and i LOVE their himalayan line products as well as others and they're all super affordable for americans/brits)
Hi Adrienne! That’s so true! Unfortunately I’m so particular with my beauty products and do a lot of research before I buy them. 😅 Especially when it comes to skincare as my skin is prone to breakouts. Also looking back on my trip I didn’t have any time to go shopping! 😆 But great suggestion and thanks for watching! 🫶🏼
I really like a NZ based brand called Ethique for solid hair care products. They have a good variety of solid shampoos which are soap free and don't dry out my colour treated hair.
Hi! I discovered Ethique at the beginning part of my trip actually (they were in Holland & Barrett in London!) and I’m so glad you mentioned them! I have been watching some reviews and I think I’ll definitely get their discovery pack for oily hair to try now. Thank you! 🫶🏼
Which bar do you use? Have you tried many others in NZ? I’ve tried the St Clements (orange) only, and the Smoothing EcoStore (brown), and both were drying. I mentioned above I use the Lush ‘Honey I washed my Hair’ shampoo bar for many years, but keep trying others too 😂 They always end up as very expensive body soaps…😂
Hi Myra! Thank you so much, I’m glad you’re enjoying my videos! My husband and I don’t buy souvenirs, nor do we go shopping unless it’s for an item we need on our trip. For SE Asia, we have bought a couple of things we have needed but I’ll go over that in my next video! Photos and memories are our only souvenirs 🫶🏼
that is so impressive!!! I travel light too (only carry on) most of the time but compares to you i am an amateur lol. TBF i am a plus size girly so my clothes takes twice the space for the same number ahah
Hi! I do acknowledge that I have a small person privilege when it comes to packing light and being able to put all my things in such a small backpack! When it comes to minimalist packing and minimalism in general, we all just do the best we can and there is no need to compare at all! 😊 Thank you for your comment and I hope you enjoyed watching! 🫶🏼
I feel you! 😉. I’ve changed my packing to only light weight fabrics and skirts.. wearing my jeans, sneakers, and layering a sweatshirt over tee, plus a light jacket. This helps to pack lighter. I also put my makeup, meds, & some toiletries into my jacket pockets and that saves space in my backpack for more clothes.
moving to an ipad mini with a kindle reader would save a lot of space or an actual kindle would save even more weight and space vs a book. I love actual books but never travel with them any longer.
Thanks so much for the video. It’s super inspiring! I’m wondering what do you do when you seal vacuum clothes to make them fit that size on your way back? Unless you bring the pump with you, do you use other items to seal the air out?
Hi Priscila! The vacuum bags don’t require a pump, there is a valve at the end and you can simply push the air out once you’ve sealed it 😊. The link for these are in the comments within my DC video if you’re interested in them! Thank you for watching! 🫶🏼
Seems dangerous to put both passports plus credit cards all in the same bag. I usually separate those between bags or partner, in case of theft of a bag, your partner will still have some of the important items. Would be horrible to lose everything 😮
Hi! Haha it would seem that way, but honestly, if I left anything with my husband it will more likely end up missing! 🤣 He does carry a few credit cards himself though. We always travel like this and have had no problems so far! Thanks for watching! 🫶🏼
I had an issue with tingling due to keeping my cell in my back pocket. I discovered these little shungite stick ons, got them on Amazon. Totally stopped the tingling. I also wear a shungite bracelet next to my galaxy watch. Never had a problem. Shungite is a stone btw. Have a great trip!
Hi Clari! I have never heard of those before! Will definitely look into it. Though, it has been really nice not wearing my watch and not seeing (also feeling) my notifications straight away! 😂 Thank you so much and thank you for sharing a solution! 🫶🏼
Hi Liv! Great question, I did not use it because the bottle holders on the side of Kånkens sadly are not true bottle holders (I think they were designed for umbrellas). So when I add my bottle there it pushes the inside and takes up room, it actually pushes against my vacuum bag of clothes and so it doesn’t fit well. In my comparison video (showing the laptop backpack against the classic) I show what it looks like with the bottle in the side pocket. Hope that makes sense! 🫶🏼
Hi Annabel! I will be traveling internationally for (almost) 3 weeks soon too and am trying to plan my packing to hopefully be carry-on only on this trip. Thank you for sharing your packing process, I will be checking out those no-pump vacuum bags for sure! Could you please share the link to your air travel cotton button up and the white lightweight blouse too? Folded up they both look like something I would wear, just curious to see them in full :)
Hi Margaret! The blouse I have was bought 12 years ago in the UK (unbelievable I know!) and the cotton button up is from Uniqlo. I don’t think they have the exact one anymore but they always stock a button shirt of similar variations! Good luck with your packing and thank you for watching! 🫶🏼
For shampoo/ conditioner bars, do you get the brand Ethique in the US? I cannot recommend then enough. They are a kiwi brand and now a registered b Corp in the UK and all of their stuff is amazing!
Luv this… ‘He’s 70 and doesn’t know how to fly’ - too funny! I haven’t found a human who can (fly) either, lol. I can’t even walk and chew gum. Now I know your travel / packing secret… your husband and/or father is taking the ‘real’ luggage… well played! 😉😎
Hi! This comment actually made me laugh out loud! 🤣 I wish my husband carried the ‘real’ luggage! He carries way less than I do 😅 his toiletries consist of only the Trader Joe’s Formula No. 3 all in one shampoo, conditioner AND body wash! 🤣 Thanks for your comment and for watching! 🫶🏼
hello! I loved the video! I hope you have a great trip! I have a question…when you arrive at the hotel, what do you do with your clothes and beauty items? Do you handle it inside your suitcase or do you put it in the hotel room closet? And the bathroom items, do you leave it loose on the hotel counter? Xoxo from Brazil 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Hi Caroline! Thank you so much and I’m glad you enjoyed the video! When we arrive at hotels we usually unpack completely. We hang our clothes or lie them flat inside the dresser to remove any crinkles. And for my beauty items I also take them out, just makes it easier to use and easier to repack. I hope that helps! 🫶🏼
Hi! These vacuum bags don’t require an actual vacuum to remove the air! Simply seal and push the air out. Here is the link for more info: a.co/d/aWpXXlj 🫶🏼
love this video! it is so inspiring that I think i'll get one of those bags too. But you mentioned yours is 18L....their website says just 16L. Are you 100% sure on the volume? Not to split hairs...just curious!!
Hi Laura! Yes, 100% sure it’s 18L, just make sure you’re looking at the 15” not the 13” 😊 here is the link of the exact backpack I bought: www.fjallraven.com/us/en-us/bags-gear/kanken/kanken-bags/kanken-laptop-152?recId=3171447661415 Hope that helps! Thank you for your comment and I’m glad you enjoyed my video! 🫶🏼
Hi! I think clothing is all personal preference. For me, I fair well in hot and humid conditions, so the denim shorts worked just fine! However, if you’re heat sensitive it’s best to not wear denim and stick to lighter fabrics. 🫶🏼
@nupt9473 I also heard the same thing, people love to tell people what to do! 😆😂 But just go with what you’re comfortable with and give yourself some choice if you’re unsure. All the best with your packing and I hope you have a wonderful time there! 🫶🏼
Hi Annabel! Totally random but can I ask the brand of your check shirt and stripe tshirt please? Really enjoying your fashion and packing :) thank u! xx
Hi! The check shirt is from Uniqlo and my stripe T-shirt is from H&M! I did get them some time ago so sadly I cannot provide the links. And thank you for enjoying my videos! 🫶🏼
Hi Ashley! My friend bought me this and there is no label inside, so I don’t know where exactly it is from… but, Uniqlo do this same type of bag which is really popular! 🫶🏼
Hi Swarupa! I’ve had this question a few times in the comments 😅 so these vacuum bags don’t require an actual vacuum to suck out the air. You simply seal and push the air out manually. Here is the link for the product: www.amazon.com/dp/B0CL6LFCHS?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share I hope that helps! 🫶🏼
Hi Nicole! I usually do get motion sickness pretty badly too! But it really depends on the descent when landing and if there has been a lot of turbulence during the flight. Luckily, I did not get motion sickness at all with any of the flights on my trip, which was pretty shocking! Thank you for watching! 🫶🏼
I gather from your accent you are from the UK, but honestly with that wardrobe you are going to overheat. We have lived and travelled in South East Asia all our lives. Denim short are too heavy for KL, you need light weight cotton shorts or skirts. ...dito for tshirts...too heavy, light shirts are a better option. No swimsuit? Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand etc have high humidity, its not like Spain or Italy.
Hi Kerry! My Dad’s side of the family are from Malaysia, this is my 3rd time there and 2nd time in Indonesia. I have also been to Thailand once in 2018. My wardrobe faired just fine for me, also I live in Florida now, so I’m very used to the heat! 😅 I also brought one swimsuit. I did not spend everyday at the beach or at a pool. Malaysia was a family visit and in Indonesia we spent most of our time in Ubud and a few days in Seminyak (and other day trips to the south part). But thank you for your concern about overheating and for watching! 🫶🏼
Hi! My back did not hurt but I also did not think my backpack was heavy during the trip. It was pretty easy for me to carry for long periods of time and whenever I could put it down, I would! Hope that helps! 🫶🏼
Hi! Mine was a gift and it seems unbranded! But it’s basically the one from Uniqlo, here in the link: www.uniqlo.com/us/en/products/E461053-000/00?colorDisplayCode=09&sizeDisplayCode=999&gad_source=1 🫶🏼
Hi! I haven’t weighed my backpack but I’m pretty sure it’s under 15lbs, as anything heavier I doubt I’ll be able to even carry it, especially for long periods of time! 😅 I also haven’t had any trouble with the weight at all the airports I went to for my trip. 🫶🏼
Hi Evra! I’m pretty sure my backpack was under 7kgs, though I never officially weighed it. We flew with AirAsia from Kuala Lumpur to Bali and they had this weight restriction, but I got onto the flight just fine with this backpack (they never checked the weight). 😊 Thanks for watching! 🫶🏼
Hi Merril! It’s funny that you said this, because I did catch a mild cold on my long flight from London to Kuala Lumpur… 😖 Thankfully, it is mild so I have still been able to do things but I having been wearing my mask everywhere now. I will remember your comment for my journey back home! Thanks for watching and your comment! 🫶🏼
@@MinimallyAnnabel years ago, I got a bad cold flying to Minneapolis. I was so miserable, only wanting to sleep and had no appetite to enjoy my mother in law’s amazing food. I’m flying to Europe in June for a month, a trip of a lifetime, and intend to eat my weight in croissants and pasta!!!
Oh no that sounds awful! Possibly catching something is such a huge downside to flying. 😖 Your Europe trip sounds amazing! 🤩 I hope you have the best time and have a safe flight!! But croissants and pasta can literally heal anything! 😂🫶🏼
Whenever I add weight to my kanken it becomes really uncomfortable to wear on my back, straps are really uncomfortable. I have one and even tough I bought the pads it starts hurting after a while.
Hi! Me too, I never wear a set of pjs and I haven’t owned a set for a long time. My shirt I sleep in is my husband’s (he sometimes gets a free t-shirt from work conferences and they always give him size L). So I wear them for sleeping and they’re as long as a dress on me! 😅🫶🏼
You can save loads of space by using the t-shirt or shirt you're planning to wear tomorrow the night before, assuming you pack casual wear and don't mind a bit of wrinkles.
Hi! I have always stressed that minimalism looks different to everyone. Every item I have packed I have used, has a cause and adds joy to my travels. No item went to waste and in no area I felt overpacked. I may not have been more extreme with it, for example simply packing one outfit and a toothbrush, but I always claimed that I am not an extreme minimalist. If that is what you’re looking for, my channel is not for you. Thank you for your comment and opening this discussion, this is a lifestyle I’m super passionate about hence why I even started my channel in the first place. And thanks so much for watching! 🫶🏼
Hi Rudy! I actually think the exact opposite since it is borrowed from the library and I don’t own any books. Minimalism isn’t about having absolutely nothing, it’s about having only the things you enjoy and being intentional with the items that you have. And technically, this book is not something that I really have, since again is it borrowed. But thanks for your comment and for watching! 🫶🏼
This may be the most ridiculous thing I’ve seen. You could have just taken your phone and passport wallet in the bum bag and bought everything else at your destination.
Hi! I highly doubt this is the MOST ridiculous thing you have actually ever seen. 😂 My husband and I prefer to bring our own snacks rather than eat things we don’t really like at airports. And everything else I brought in my sling bag were things I found useful for my journey not just at my destinations. What works for one person doesn’t always work for others. Thank you for taking the time to watch some of my video and sharing your thoughts! 🫶🏼
Hi! That’s exactly it, only the backpack counts for the flight, hence one bag packing. It’s really not that serious, my video is about minimalist packing and I have zero expectations about whether or not a viewer subscribes. I just hope people enjoy my content as this is the kind of content I like to watch too. Thanks for your comment! 🫶🏼
Hi Aurora! I’m glad you said that last sentence. Because my minimalistic packing has been adapted to my needs and therefore is minimalist from my perspective. This lifestyle has many different layers and gray areas, unless you decide you want to be extreme with it, which I am not. I live and travel with as little as I’m comfortable with, which I know is much less than the normal. But again, I thank you for taking time to watch my video and sharing your thoughts! 🫶🏼

It's easy to live like this... The problem is having to wash clothes every 3 days in the middle of a trip... It just doesn't make sense
I’m so glad you posted this! I have the same bag (love it) and you’ve shown me how to make it work for my next trip. Thank you!!!
Hi Debbie! Thank you! I’m glad it was helpful to you and all the best with packing for your next trip!
I want to be getting Earth Runners' sandals for future trips 😍
All my toiletries fit in a 1 L bag. What really helps save up space is having a shampoo/soap bar + a small conditioner bar (which does not go in the toiletry bag) and not bothering with make-up 😄
Great video!! Thanks for sharing! 🙏🏻
Have a lot of fun! 😊
It would be interesting to hear a post-mortem after your trips to share your experience with this lean bag!
Hi! That is a great idea! I only have 2 days at home after this trip before I have to pack for a week in NYC! I may or may not have the time to record that when I’m back, we’ll see 😅 thanks so much for watching! 🫶🏼
Post mortem? As in after dying? Lol
Haha I think everyone gets the gist! 😅🤣
The book was stressing me out 😂 I love my Kobo, it fits 1000 books but its so thin!
I had no idea the roll up vacuum bags existed! Game changer!
And no, the purist comments do not bother me at all, when I started my channel I knew there would be opposing opinions. It happens when you put yourself out there online! Viewers like yourselves make it worth it, so a massive thank you again 🫶🏼
I would recommend for readers to get an ebook for travelling. It safes so much space + more than enough books with you
Hi! Had this comment multiple times! 😅 Unfortunately an e-reader is still not for me, but thanks for the comment! 🫶🏼
That’s so funny, i’m leaving in June for 3 months in Europe with my trusty Fjallraven 17” Kanken and my dumpling sling bag only (almost exactly the same as you 😃)
For my clothing i have 6 bottom and 1 dress, 7 tops, 3 pairs of shoes, 5 underwear, 2 bras, 2 pairs of socs, one swimsuit and 1 rain jacket (this includes the clothes i will wear on the plane 😊)
Thanks for your video ❤
Hi Teri! Thank you so much, I’m glad you enjoyed the video! I think I could have actually done better on the toiletries 😅 but thank you again! 🫶🏼
Thank you again for enjoying my videos and for the huge compliment about my channel, it means a lot! 🫶🏼
@@MinimallyAnnabel thanks for letting me know! I saved your latest video to be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee :) I'll keep that in mind for the future - thankfully I'm doing just one destination next month but for multiple countries that's good to know!
I’m so happy to hear that, I hope you enjoy my other video too! And have the best time in Spain with just your backpack! 🫶🏼
As an over-packer, I’m super impressed by this. Nice video!
Hi Allie! Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed it! 🫶🏼
Another lovely minimalist pack with me. I just bought that Uniqlo bag can’t wait to use it!
Hi! Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed this video too! 🫶🏼
Man, I thought I did well traveling with a carryon bag and a daypack! You’ve challenged me to try taking less.
thats the size of bag i take if i am going out for half a day ! 🙂 will be intrigued to see how you get on.
Hi! I have a part 2 already up! Thanks for watching! 🫶🏼
This was so cool! The Fjallraven is so small, 18l is crazy!
Love this! Im planning to travel with just my large Longchamp bag. This video was very helpful 😊
Hi! Thank you! I’m glad my video was helpful, I hope it goes well packing in just your Longchamp bag, you can do it! 🫶🏼
I use a longchamp bag too, they are fantastic to use for travel.
I’m visiting several cities in Italy then going on a cruise for a total of three weeks. I’m bringing a slightly bigger back pack, but this has been helpful.
Hi! I’m glad my video was helpful to you and I hope you have a wonderful time in Italy and on your cruise! 🫶🏼
Hi Kittle! Thank you! I hope your packing for 5 weeks in Asia goes well and have an amazing time there! 🫶🏼
Wow for 3 weeks?! Amazing!
Hi Angela! Thank you for watching! 🫶🏼
I’m sure it’s been mentioned, but a kindle would be more compact than a novel! Tho it does require charging I guess…
Hi Katy! Yes, the Kindle has been mentioned many times 🤣 I’m still an actual book gal for now! But thanks again for the suggestion! 🫶🏼
With Ethique, I decided to go for the St Clements shampoo and the Wonderbar conditioner after using the trial pack, so far they have not dried out my hair which is great!
Hi Su! I definitely should have brought a hat 😂 thank you so much for watching! 🫶🏼
With snacks you can easily carry them in a backpack pocket and upon entering the airplane just chuck them in your seat pocket
I travel minimally but also with 2 young kids😅😊
I’m the snack mule and document mule as well!!!😀
I really like a NZ based brand called Ethique for solid hair care products.
@@badger9156 my favourite is Heali Kiwi.
I love, love all of your videos, especially your packing ones. Thank you for sharing. I'm just wondering about souvenirs and shopping?
@MinimallyAnnabel Beautifully said ❤️ Looking forward to your next video 😊
I’m a really big fan of the Lush shampoo bars. I don’t know if you’re familiar but it’s worth mentioning here 😊
that is so impressive!!!
@@MinimallyAnnabel thank you for your very considerate answer
I feel you!
Hi! Please see my other replies for this same suggestion! 😊 Thanks for watching! 🫶🏼
Very impressive! Very enjoyable to watch.
Hi Marta! Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed watching! 🫶🏼
Lush makes cruelty free shampoo and conditioner bars that aren't very drying.
You are my kind of girl! This is how I pack.
Hi! Thank you!! Love that you pack like this too! 🫶🏼
i have a new goal for minimal packing! cheers for sharing :)
Hi Albert! Thank you and I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
Thank you so much and thank you for sharing a solution! 🫶🏼
Wow, you made all that fit amazing
Hi! Thank you! 🫶🏼
how come you don’t use the water bottle holder on the outside of the bag to save space inside?
Oh yay, just watched your next video!
Hi Abbi! Yes, I absolutely love Ethique! 🫶🏼
Thanks for your comment and for watching! 🫶🏼
Oh my god, that purse! I need it! Which brand is it?
Hi Roxana! It’s from Uniqlo, I have added the link in the description! 🫶🏼
baggu makes a similar crescent bag in more sizes fyi
That size, for me, is just an overnight bag.
For me it’s a take to work size 😅

What do you do on Travel with The compressed bags? How to re-compress?
Hi! You simply push the air out by hand with these compression bags, no vacuum needed, hope that helps! 🫶🏼
Thanks a lot, seems to be simple 😊

love this video! it is so inspiring that I think i'll get one of those bags too. But you mentioned yours is 18L....their website says just 16L. Are you 100% sure on the volume? Not to split hairs...just curious!!

How did the denim shorts do? I would not have thought denim (even in shorts form) would have been good in the southeast Asian humidity
Hi! I think clothing is all personal preference. For me, I fair well in hot and humid conditions, so the denim shorts worked just fine! However, if you’re heat sensitive it’s best to not wear denim and stick to lighter fabrics. 🫶🏼
@@MinimallyAnnabel thanks, I'm planning a trip there and was told by many "no denim," so your perspective helps
Really enjoying your fashion and packing :) thank u! xx

OMG!l went to Thailand for 3days with small suitcase😂
Loving that purse! I haven’t heard about it, can you share the brand/style?

Hi Lainey! That seems like it would be really practical and efficient, but I don’t think it’ll be my style! 😅🫶🏼
Genuine question how do you repack them??? Like where do you get the access to the vaccum?
Hi Swarupa! I’ve had this question a few times in the comments 😅 so these vacuum bags don’t require an actual vacuum to suck out the air. You simply seal and push the air out manually. Here is the link for the product: www.amazon.com/dp/B0CL6LFCHS?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I hope that helps! 🫶🏼
Do you get motion sickness? I have it pretty bad for all transportation, but I travel a lot 😅 I always packs tons of dramamine
I also brought one swimsuit. I did not spend everyday at the beach or at a pool. Malaysia was a family visit and in Indonesia we spent most of our time in Ubud and a few days in Seminyak (and other day trips to the south part). But thank you for your concern about overheating and for watching! 🫶🏼
Does this hurt your back after a long trip?
Hi! My back did not hurt but I also did not think my backpack was heavy during the trip. It was pretty easy for me to carry for long periods of time and whenever I could put it down, I would! Hope that helps! 🫶🏼

Hi Swarupa! I honestly don’t know how it happens 🤣 thanks for watching! 🫶🏼
do the clothes get very wrinkled from the vacuum bag?
Yes!
Hi! I answered your other comment
@@MinimallyAnnabel thank you! please please post more often! such great inspo for travel!
I'm wondering about the weight of your backpack because some airlines allowed only 15 lbs
Hi! I haven’t weighed my backpack but I’m pretty sure it’s under 15lbs, as anything heavier I doubt I’ll be able to even carry it, especially for long periods of time! 😅
I also haven’t had any trouble with the weight at all the airports I went to for my trip. 🫶🏼
Its your bag in size classic? 16 litr?
Hi! It’s the 15” laptop backpack and it is 18L. 🫶🏼
Hi) thanks) what hair styler do you use?
Hi Marina! I used these mini hair flat irons for travel: a.co/d/hxPIL79
But at home I use a GHD flat iron: a.co/d/ddxDdfO
Hope that helps! 🫶🏼
Hi Annabel can you confirm the name of the Amazon shirts please. Thank you
Hi! T-Shirts are by Real Essentials ordered from Amazon, here is the link: a.co/d/iTiFZ9V 🫶🏼
What is the colour of your Birkenstock?
Hi! I believe they’re beige 🫶🏼
Do you have a link to that clothing bag
Hi! Assuming you’re referring to the vacuum bag? Here is the link: a.co/d/2f1IwSy
Hope that helps! 🫶🏼
If the total of that backpack and shoulder bag is 7kg then this is perfect
It’s never a bad idea to consider wearing a face mask on a long plane ride. I mean, even a bad cold can ruin or diminish a vacation.
Your Europe trip sounds amazing! 🤩 I hope you have the best time and have a safe flight!! But croissants and pasta can literally heal anything! 😂🫶🏼
@@MinimallyAnnabel 1000% yes!
How do you only take 1 outfit for 3 weeks just curious?
Hi Alicia! I would not know as I did not pack only one outfit. Thank you for your question! 🫶🏼
I think the outfit you were referring to was the one in the beginning, but I think that's for travel day!😊
Try using bar shampoo by NUXE
Hi Helen! I have recently fallen in love with Ethique so will be using them from now on, but thank you for the suggestion! 🫶🏼
How big is your husband’s bag?
Hi David! He has the same one, 15” Laptop Backpack but in black! 🫶🏼
Whenever I add weight to my kanken it becomes really uncomfortable to wear on my back, straps are really uncomfortable. I have one and even tough I bought the pads it starts hurting after a while.
Hi Andrea! I haven’t had this problem for myself personally. Sorry to hear that it is uncomfortable for you! Thank you for watching! 🫶🏼
No sleeping clothes?
Hi Cherry! I did pack a sleeping shirt last minute, you can see it in my part 2 when I unpack! 🫶🏼
I usually just sleep in a tshirt. never wear or pack pjs.
Yes down sized but not really minimal tbh. But you do you 🎉
@@MinimallyAnnabel actually im exactly looking for this 🥰 i use less items but using more clothes 😅
That book is killing your minimalist setup!
Title says one bag. I counted two bags. Why do youtubers feel the need to lie for clicks? This is how you fumble potential subscribers.
I feel like it's because one one of the bags counts for flights
😅😮Amazing skill👍
Hi! Thank you! 🫶🏼
Do you have ig or tik tok?
Hi! My IG is private and I don’t use TikTok. Just have time for a RUclips Channel only! 😅🫶🏼
it's not really minimalistic
Hi Aurora! That’s totally fine, you’re entitled to your own opinion! 😊 Thanks for watching! 🫶🏼
@@MinimallyAnnabelIt seems to me there was no way of saying without sounding actually rude. But it's probably adapted to your needs !
I'm impressed! And it is very minimal in my opinion. I thought I did well with just a small carry-on bag
Hi Mary! Thank you! 🫶🏼
