For some dudes from Gladbeck, North Rhine-Westphalia Germany. They do love scotland more than the scots do themselves.

Hey guys this is Richard from Patreon and thanks for the request!, I knew you both would get a kick out of the bagpipes at the start. Gravedigger is getting older now and still put on a decent show but way better back in the day, Actually they were rockin pretty hard here though. This opening just blows me away everytime, Glad you liked it and cheers to ya. \m/

As someone who has scottish and German ancestors, you can never go wrong with bagpipes or Grave Digger.

If you like bagpipes and enjoyed Grave Digger you really need to hear their song Rebellion (the clans are marching) Live feat. Hansi Kürsch of Blind Guardian!
    🤘🏻👍🏻😜

My mom's parents are both Scottish. Clan Morrison "Teaghlach Phabbay" and clan McCaull "Dulce Periculum" bag pipes are in my blood and I cry when I hear them played right

The album “Tunes of war” was recorded 1996 and it is a concept album dedicated to the Scottish revolution, and yes - there is a song about William Wallace, which is a massacre. The concert was recorded in 2010, when Grave Digger was celebrating their 30th anniversary since their foundation and they played the entire album and some other tracks as well, because it is one of their more successful ones. They have this “Middle Ages trilogy” with “Tunes of war” ( 1996) being the first, followed by “Knights of the cross”(1998), which is about the crusades, and “Excalibur”(1999), that was based on the legend of King Arthur.
Grave digger are an a bit underrated German band, because they never fit within a certain frame in terms of style - not quite heavy metal, not quite power metal, but not quite a thrash metal as well. I know, I get it that labeling things this way could be annoying but it’s quite challenging to see this band to an unfamiliar person without the labels. Amazing band nevertheless, I love them a lot. Their style is a mixture of Accept and Judas Priest, which is the closest I can get with describing them. They have many great albums fraction of which is the said Middle Ages trilogy. Fun fact - their guitar player from the 90’s Uwe Lulis, who wrote a shitload of great songs and lyrics is nowadays in Accept

Reminds me of Running Wild and yes kind of sounds like german metal from late 80's early 90's

Cause its German Power Metal and they started even earlier than Running Wild or Helloween ;)

@@stefanbierganns3193 Not earlier than Running Wild. Their debut albums came out the same year, and as far as demo goes, the first Running Wild demo is from 1981, Grave Digger's from 1982 I think.Besides, Running Wild were formed in 1976 as Granite Hearts and changed their name to Running Wild in 1979, Grave Digger were formed in 1980.

You NEED to check out Rebirth by Orbit Culture lol, it has bagpipes!! You will love that part, plus it’s arguably the best transition and songwriting to date. And it will complete your trilogy.

Nothing good after the bagpipes. If you wanna hear some really good German Metal, check ACCEPT Symphony No. 40 (official live) Wacken 2017.

Decent musicians. Nothing interesting happened after the pipes left the stage. Vocalist is pretty awful. Wanted to like this, but no.
