  • Some may remember Donna Loren as The Dr. Pepper Girl used on their 60s ads. Donna was also a successful singer and actress. She had been a Mousketeer and one of her first recordings was song "I'm So Lonely," a 1962 song written by Glen Campbell while he was with Crest Records. Both. Donna and Glen later became artists signed with Capitol Records. While an artist for Gene Autrey's Challenge Records in early 1964, seventeen-year-old Donna sang a song written by Brian Wilson, Gary Usher and Roger Christian titled "Muscle Bustle." The tracks for it were recorded February 13, 1964 at RCA Studio in Hollywood, with Jack Nitzsche as the arranger and session leader. Having worked with Phil Spector as his arranger on many hits, Jack knew to have Wrecking Crew members contracted for the session, which was produced by Jack Tracy. Among them was pianist Leon Russell, who played a several songs recorded by Donna, like "On The Good Ship Lollipop," "Dream World," and "Drop The Drip.".
Donna appeared in the 1964 Frankie Avalon-Annette Funicello beach franchise film Muscle Beach Party as "Donna," and performed the song "Muscle Bustle" with Dick Dale & the Del-Tones. The film also introduced the world to thirteen-year-old Little Stevie Wonder, who performed his hit "Fingertips" with Dick Dale. Gary Usher and Roger Christian had a bit parts as surfers in the film.
From that February session also came "Hollywood Star," which became a single for Jerry Fuller, who wrote it. It is on this RUclips channel.
