Love your understanding of what minimalism is. I believe even within minimalism we can have a few excesses. Otherwise, as I've learned the hard way, your attachment to sparcity can actually become a burden that dominates your life. Hence, as you mentioned, the importance of "inner" minimalism. Another great vid. 😊

Thank you! I agree, kind of like an unforgiving fixation in pursuit of the “perfect” amount of sparsity and order. I have to be mindful of falling into that, because without balance I’d be one of those people with nothing but bookcases and a floor mattress.

Great video Niki! I need to check out that book on Minimalism. It sounds good for me as I continue my journey. Sunlit Man was my favorite secret novel, but it’s definitely Cosmere heavy, and references events that must not have happened yet in Stormlight.

It was a good one! So far Tress is winning for me but I still have two to go.

Thanks for the recommendation of The Minimalist Way, I've been spending recent weeks trying to cut back on stuff I keep so I've bitten the bullet and bought it on audible. I quite like when you throw in a random non genre book into your videos.

That’s awesome, I hope it helps! I also really liked Gretchen Rubin’s Outer Order, Inner Calm. Going through stuff is so much work but it feels so good to have a calmer space afterwards.
Thank you for letting me know. I love SFF but those random reads are always the ones I seem to be most passionate about!

@@TheObsessiveBookseller I read predominantly SF & Fantasy but I do like to read a bit of everything on the side too. Going through books is what I find hardest to sort through more than clothes, household stuff etc. as I have a huge backlog of TBR's some of which I've had for almost 20 years but have not gotten around to or they were so buried amongst other things I forgot I had them. I've been considering making up a list of all of them and doing a random pick like you do to push me into choosing from a wider pool rather than what's newest or easiest access. I think I need a bigger colourful bucket than yours though 😉. Definitely keep up the throwing in any non genre books you've read though as I do like the recommendations and I will definitely look into the others you just suggested once I've finished the Erica Layne. Btw I've also joined you in the audible challenge, The Minimalist Way is the first one I've added since you started your challenge as my kist in audible is almost as long as yours 👍🤞

@@adrianmcmahon5731 Yaas! I hope the challenge is fun and it helps! It has, if nothing else, made me more aware of what I consume on auto-piolet and how looong it takes to get around to the stuff I already have.
Books are my hardest category also. I'm with you on the ones that have been dragged around for 20 years - it's so hard to let those untapped potentials go. The random picks or even the Read/Burn/Hoard projects are good for refamiliarizing myself with them, making it easier to let go of the ones I've been not really wanting to read for that last 20 years but hung onto anyway haha. Definitely will need a bigger bucket. XD

Nice to see you’re enjoying the Sun Eater binge! I’m right with you in getting more out of these series reading experiences by reading them before all the little details flee from memory.
Loved Sunlit Man! Glad you’re enjoying it 😊

I’m especially excited to get to the Company and the Devices trilogies. I’m expecting to like most, if not all of them. The writing is just too clever.
I’ve you to thank for the speeding up of that mindset. It has taken me a year, but I’m finally getting there.

I liked Winter Lost. I recall reading Priory and enjoying git but don't really remember the details. Next year I may have to try to read all of Sanderson's works.

I agree with your assessment of books 3 and 4 of Sun Eater. I thought the end of bk 4 was INSANE and made up for the slower first half. I have Ashes of Man on my shelves but haven't got to it yet. I read Orange Tree a few years back, meh. Rather simplistic in some respects. I shan't be rushing to read the 2nd book. 👍

I’m just finished Priory and I agree - total meh. I also just finished Ashes of Man and it was passable. I’m overall still liking the series but it seems to have evened out to a 4 star from the 5 star killer beginning.
