@@ingridherincx8947 -Hi Ingrid! I know u wrote your post 1 yr ago---so Happy 2021 and did following this RUclips video help your computer to find it's WIFI network??
Hi Brooke! Happy 2021! I was wondering if this Chromebook trick continued to work for your computer? Or did u wind up losing your network again? Thank u for the info!!
Excellent help. Short clear instructions. Fixed my kid's Acer Chromebook Spin 311 in about 5 minutes. If anyone has the same model as us: there are *12* identical Philips head screws on this model, 8 screws are visible and 4 are *hidden* under small round grey rubber pads. Don't try to pull the cover off unless you undo all 12 screws. The grey pads can be easily pried off with a knife or similar object. The screws underneath will be covered in a black rubbery goo that you can scrape away, or just push your Philips screwdriver through it carefully until you feel each screw engage. The wifi card looks identical to the one in this video and is easily spotted inside.
My son's school Chromebook was doing this exact same thing. We tried everything from rebooting it to rebooting our router. Nothing worked. Came across your video and was scared to try because his Chromebook is ridiculously expensive. But.... We finally took the chance and did it. It was super easy and IT WORKED!!!!! He no longer has any issues and we don't have to go back to the school to exchange it. Thank you so much!!! Advice for those who want to try it... Just go slow and take your time.
@@blahicyunusual9254 well I used the video as a guide. I unscrewed the screws carefully and made sure there aren’t any hidden ones, then opened it and made sure to connect the little cables to the WiFi card slot, since somehow it had gotten disconnected. Then I checked to see if it worked and carefully put it all back together.
Thank you! I never would have thought this was such a simple hardware issue and could've been messing with it forever. Thank you for saving me so much time and frustration!
I applied this theory to my own chrome book which was only two days old. I figured I would try tapping on the bottom near the Wi-Fi chip in wire location before I went ahead and opened up the chrome book and it has worked ever cents so anyone who has a problem try tapping on the bottom of the chrome book to see if the wires are just somehow lose before you go and open it. Great video by the way!
This method only works as a temporary fix for me, if I tap near where the WiFi card is then it will fix the problem but often ends up breaking again within the same day
Spent several months trying to fix this issue and some how I didn't come across this video. Finally watched this and followed the suggestions. My wifi is 100% fixed now. Thank you!
Very clear video. It worked!!! (Though I did find it a lot harder to plug those white and black cables into the holes than it seemed on the video but perseverance saved me having to buy a new Chromebook.) Thank you, sir!
Found this just the other day when I'd been searching for issues with my HP Chromebook starting to drop the WiFi connection. WiFi card is in a different location, but wired in the same way. Took my 10 minutes to unscrew all screws, take off the keyboard and locate the WiFi card. Then simply disconnecting the cables and the WiFi card, putting back in and put back all screws. Picked up the WiFi network immediately and so far so good :)
Thank you so much! As a broke college student, I can say that you have saved me textbooks worth of money. I can't believe there was such a quick fix! Thank you!
@@TechGuru247 wow you are awesome.. this was a late night instant 4AM fix for me.. last time I pulled apart my Chromebook I reverse polarity my computer not knowing anything about how to fix it.. thank you so much. Oddly the Chromebook this happened on is 4 years old and just had its final update before this became an issue. Do you think it running out of updates had something to do with the wifi finally shorting out?
Thank you for this fix. I spend quite some time trying to figure out what was going on and nothing helped until this. My Chromebook of course was not as easy to open but once I got it cracked open and unhoooked the cables and reattached all works great. Thank you.
Thank you! I wasn't able to remove the card because the screw was too tight so I tapped on it like a previous commenter suggested. It's up and running! Thanks you now my son can finish working on his school work during this pandemic.
TIP: make sure the wires connecting to the wifi card are in the right place to begin with. Look at the black and white arrows printed next to the ports. I've spent six hours of my life going nuts so that you don't have to.
This worked for me too on a 3 year old Lenovo. I didn't disconnect the cables, but I unscrewed the wifi card, cleaned the contacts, reseated the card and screwed it back in not quite as tight as previously. It will likely invalidate any warranty (mine had already expired) and I'd suggest using antistatic gear such as a wristband if you have access to it or you may find that a different part of the Chromebook stops working. Once you have the back cover off, take a photo so you know which wires go where if you need to replace them. Thanks for the informative video.

After dealing with this issue for years on my daughters school Chromebook (ASUS brand) I finally was able to fix the issue by opening it up and placing a tiny paper washer underneath the screw to raise the wireless card just slightly, now it works great. To verify unscrew the wireless card but leave plugged in, it should sit at a slight angle in the connector, then power up and see if it works.
If you are not in a hurry this works too. I discharged the battery by running chromebook until it shutdown due to low battery. Waited another week to make sure the battery was completely dead and then charged the chromebook. Everything working now.
At first I just loosened the screws on the back and that worked for a couple weeks put today I fully did with the video asked and it's working beautifully. I am so grateful for the help

Thanks, worked on HP Chromebook! My complications: Had to remove all silicone pads to get to screws. Had reconnect screen connection which was inadvertently pulled out splitting the case. Didn’t try to drain battery to see if that would also clear the problem.

I doubt anyone is going to see this much less reply but ...... I followed this guy's instructions and my chromebook still can't connect to the internet. I tried to reset my chromebook and power wash it completely. Still nothing. The chromebook I have is the samsung chromebook plus and I've even tried to dismantle it all together and put it back and I still have the same problem. I can't even get passed the welcome screen because the next step is to connect to the internet. But I can't because it shows no internet for me to connect to. I'm sorry for whoever had to read this because this is a bit long but if you happen to read out then thanks and God bless you. (EDIT) Also forgot to mention if anyone knows any way I can fix this problem it would be a huge help. Thanks
I was desperate coz of this issue, then I saw ur video but didn't dare to do it myself coz I possibly broke down everything. So i brought my chrome to the computer technicians and told them to do like what I ve watched in ur video. At the end they said they did it but it doesn't work, nothing they can do, and they just advice me to buy some wifi external stuff. Story short I brought my chrome home, took a knife instead coz i didnt have the tools, open my chrome and did the same exact thing I saw by myself. And IT WORKED. Damn! I am way much better than those technicians 🧐😏🤣
Thank you so much this video helped me very much and was easy to do. I tried shutting my chromebook down and turning it back on and I didn't work thank you for showing us this method very helpful indeed!
Only God knows how much you saved me...I have been struggling with my WiFi issue for atlest 6months and just with this video the problem was resolved withing minutes. This could ha e cost me a whole lot of my fish money. The only thing was, it works for 15hrs and is off again.....am not sure wheither I should repeat the sam process again?
My Acer CB intermittently dropped and reconnected to the Wi-Fi. I blamed updates or age, as it got worse over time. I tried your fix and it worked for a while but the issue soon came back. It did this a little over time and I would reset the DSL modem/router thinking that was the issue. Then I noticed that other devices don't lose the signal. The fix for me was to relocate the model/router closer to the CB and all works well with the stronger signal, now medium to strong. Maybe this will help others.
I was an hour away from buying a new laptop. Tried this and it worked instantly. The wires can be touchy to get back on, but I got my magnifying glasses out and got them on. 😀

BTW I have an Acer Chromebook R11.
Thank you Jack for your valuable comment and subscribing to my channel.
Tech Guru No problem :)
I’ve been doing this for 30 minutes but I can’t get the bottom cover off, I’ve tried crowbars and had six people try and it’s like they didn’t want anyone to take it off 😭
Absolute mad lad, thank you.
Worked for my Samsung Chromebook using another comment's slap the back method in the area since I didn't have the tools! Thank you!!!!

😅 Way to go..! Glad my video helped..! Please subscribe for more videos lie this..

I wish there was a way to do this without having to remove the back, but thank you!! I have not tried it yet, but I will eventually…

It is astonishing to see so many chromebook has the same problem. My ASUS C302 has the same issue. I hate it and seldom use it.
Thanks so much! It worked perfectly!
