Great video and what great timing. I upgraded my saw to a 12” sliding miter saw and there is no way I’m gonna lift that thing anymore.

If you get one or two folding out feed roller stands, putting it on that simple table or a Workmate or what have you is a pretty viable option but you lose the ability to use stops.
The folding out feed rollers can be used with the table saw and that's a bonus.
I have a little Delta table saw and a miter saw and a Workmate so I got a folding roller stand and it works well except for having no stop system.
I think some diy solutions are pretty good but never got around to making one, a simple one, otherwise that inexpensive stand you showed probably makes more sense.
Sometimes I've just used a big plank on sawhorses with little support boxes I made to hold up the stock and just clamped a piece of wood as a stop.
Simple sometimes works fine...I've used the little boxes on a workbench too.
If the plank sags with the saw in the middle, use two planks or several 2x4's under the plank
or make legs that use the plank on edge, maybe with those brackets meant for sawhorses...
good ideas there for sure! I was using my Workmates last week and they're still going strong ;)
I also have the TB-S600 stand, and I really like it. A few things I like are the wider spacing between the 1.75" tube rails. Once it is adjusted correctly it works very smoothly and does not vibrate much. I do agree with you that the locking knobs are in the wrong spot and are the wrong shape. I did make a couple of changes to mine. In a couple of places I added some nylon washers to stiffen it up a bit, and I swapped out the mounting arm adjustment screws with stainless steel allen head cap screws to make adjustment easier (those screws are M6 x 30 mm BTW). Oh and one more thing, the Toughbuilt mounts apparently fit the Ridgid miter stand with zero modification.

@@metaspencer I used the nylon washers at the pivot points, they are all loose otherwise, I also used some on the wheels and that let me tighten up the axle some to remove side-to-side play at the wheels. I am pretty sure they are all M8 bolts and the axle is 12 mm.

Go with the ridgid. I have one and that thing is awesome and only 149.00. Another plus is if you register it it has a lifetime warranty.

I have had the ToughBuilt for several years - Never had the nob bug me. I have done 16' stock. It has one draw back and that is with heavy use and movement the foot pedal for collapse get bent. I have had the other stands - they suck All in all all stands have issues but this builds in a stand, portability and the ability to do long stock without a separate purchase.

I have a rolling folding stand from Harbor F that works very well for me...think I paid $99 a few years ago. Don't have to take off the saw each time, but it's a bit unstable when folded up so I always be sure to lean it against something stable for storage.
I've seen those stands at Harbor Freight and have always wondered about them. Good to hear it works for ya! That little bit of wobble seems to be in all the stands :)
I have a rolling dewalt miter saw stand but I have a mix match of a dewalt stand and a hitachi miter saw. My dad bought a new dewalt miter saw and stand combo and I liked his stand so I bought one for my miter saw. I think I paid like $179 on sale
I also have an old Bosch miter saw in my garage mounted to a work table. It’s according to how much junk that I have piled up on the table decides how long of a board that I can cut. Lol
haha ... I've seen those rolling Dewalt stands and think that if I needed a new one, which I obviously don't, I'd try that one next. In my experience, the Dewalt stuff is hard to kill.

Oh man.. You gotta build yourself a sauna. Trust me. It's money well spent. All you need is the sauna stove and preferably one with a water tank so you'll have boiling water to mix with your cold water bucket to get warm bathing water. You basically just need the sauna room and a separate changing room.
Do you think the sauna is a better experience and build than a cedar hot tub? I'm seriously thinking about building one or the other before the cold weather sets in here
@@metaspencer Definitely sauna over a hot tub. But then again i'm biased. Saunas are like a church here in finland. We go there almost religiously. At least 2 times a week no matter what the weather is.
I've been into so many saunas. Best sauna to have is a wood burning stove. Electric saunas always give a very dry and stinging sensation with the steam.. While a wood fire stove will give a very smooth and soft steam. And all the rest infared and whatever saunas out there are just lying to yourself.
Oh also remember to stay hydrated. Bring a cold beer to the sauna to maximize the experience!

Toughbilt: Great for transporting allong a jobsite, but will not hold your material super acurate
Dewalt: compact ish, not as easy to transport but will fit in a small van/pickup truck, has sturdy outfeed supports
Tomax: small, easy to transport, has outfeed rollers, ugly but it works good
Keter folding table: good since it is multi purpose, making it more budget friendly
sawhorses + plywood: super budget friendly, super compact, and you probably already own it

Those wings are a problem, because they telescope out of 1 rail which means that the stoppers don't sit perfectly level. Very annoying if you're cutting deeper boards other than 2x#'s.
Agreed -- perfect level is hard to attain with the stand. What's nice for perfection is a hard-built stand. Thanks man!
I just got a Hercules miter saw stand, I thought it would work but probably be a pile of shit. I was blown away like a fucking queefe in a tornado...... It's very solid and seems pretty nice

It is worth noting that the DeWalt stand is only designed to work with the DeWalt saws. So my Makita would not fit on it without modification.

Anyone find a stand that protects the saw while in transit. The Festool UG stand seem to be the only option. The saw folds away into the stand frame and is not too tall for a small van. I would like to find any other similar options.
Great question. My saw is always vulnerable in the truck. A custom cube in the truck would help some ...

I bought the warrior one. It's nice for 55 with a coupon. normal 69.99. As long as wood goes back down in price! Seen you talking about 5 fence jobs you have. Hopefully they pan out. I just had a customer that I just finished 3 jobs ask if we can hold off for 2 weeks on the other jobs. About 17 hundred I said sure. I have a couple other jobs to finish in the meantime. Just worried about winter coming up.
@@WhatsForDinner1 I just had to bump all of my fence jobs to the spring due to the wood shortage around here ... at that point wood will be the price of gold, prolly.

The Toughbuilt really doesn't look very tough built. Why the heck would they use air pneumatic tires?
I've wondered the same thing ... lots of plastic and not a lot of true TOUGH ... I guess that's how manufacturing works these days

Cutting on the ground or on the floor is so wrong.i see flooring guys do this all the time,all that hands and knee work will catch up with you eventually.Work smarter not harder... Dewalt the best.
