    Just to make sure it's clear:
    -Solid lines are solid walls
    -Dotted lines are glass walls
    -Diagonal lines are warp tiles

    Stop motion animation of the battle mat, coupled with precise narration: seamless and clear tutorial. Unpainted, grey mini was obviously the "statue". MOAR please 🙏 😁

    I guess I'm not too bright. I don't quite understand that trap. Like in that first one, you just swap once and then go out, right? Don't step on the colored title on your way to the exit.

    Out of curiosity, do you have any examples of who would actually build this trap?

      I built a campaign featuring many guilds with an Arcane Trickster based rogue guild, in their entry exam they had to go through and solve many illusion puzzles which this could work in for a scenario.

    This is giving off massive Zelda vibes, and I love it! Did something like this with mirrors that would send the party around a maze while avoiding enemies, and getting split up. It was a lot of fun.

      The part of the statue moving with you makes me think of Golden Sun and some of those puzzles. Combined with Pokemon warp tiles, this sounds quite interesting!

    Well hello MTD, you guys weren't gone that long. Glad your back! I didn't notice anything different, same music, pencil art and same style. You guys scared me, thought you where going to completely change. It's happened to me so many times. A channel will swear they are not changing, then Bam! Book of the Month club! Please stay the cool and awesome people that you are, you don't need to be anything else.
    Thanks MTD, you guys have a wonderful day!

    Love the tabletop pictures!
    That way we can still have visualization of the narration even though there aren't new custom drawings yet, AND we can see practical example of what's being said

    In the final encounter is interesting & I like the shuffling back and again. Besides breaking the glass, for instance if it were superior magical glass, how would the rest of the party get "across"? My thought is there might be a lever in the exit hall OR once all the Turquoise squares are touched and thus eliminated, then the Glass Wall moves to the right; then the movement happens again until the Exit is exposed.

      Once make it across, there is a switch/Rune to turn off the Invisible walls so the rest may catch up.

    Do you think Anti Magic Field is required to prevent magic users to teleport their way out?
    What about Echo Knight or Wildfie Druid (and lesser degree Cunjure Wiz and Dream Druid) which has Teleport effects which are not technically spells.
    Good to see you lads again.

    • @masterthedungeon
      @masterthedungeon  2 года назад +5

      There's absolutely nothing in this trap that would stop a player from teleporting if it's within their power. But sometimes letting players come up with unconventional means of getting past a trap is half the fun.

      @@masterthedungeon I agree. Decided to 'stop' player abilities that foil your trap/puzzle can border on railroading.
      Antimagic field should be used VERY sparingly. It's equivalent to an eighth-level spell, so they shouldn't just randomly be there to foil players.
      Two situations I can see to use Antimagic fields. First, if the setting fits. (The dungeon of an experienced spellcaster, or a prison designed to hold spellcasters.)
      Second, if the existence of an antimagic field is integrated into the trap mechanics itself(a trap that involves toggling an antimagic field on and off in order to proceed, for example.)

    • @GooBootheWarrior
      @GooBootheWarrior 2 года назад

      @@minimalistmindset3020 Antimagic Field is not just an eighth-level spell, it's an eighth-level concentration spell of only an hour duration and no way of extending it besides metamagic.
      Players don't get two 8th level spell slots to cast Glyph of Warding with it, even at level 20. They'd have to cast GoW at 9th level with it if they wanted to use it as a trap.
      Thus, anyone capable of setting a single use Antimagic Field up on a trigger is probably at least as powerful as a 17th level spellcaster. Anyone capable of setting up a permanent one they can turn on and off, is astoundingly powerful, or the spell is being actively maintained somehow.
      Silence might be a better option, though given that wizards, the spellcasters that most typically build dungeons, can't cast it, it might be unlikely in a wizard dungeon. But it gives the players a chance to feel clever about their spell choices if they took components into account when choosing, or try to make good use of a spell they wouldn't have otherwise considered under the circumstances.

    • @minimalistmindset3020
      @minimalistmindset3020 2 года назад

      @@GooBootheWarrior You're right. Permanent Antimagic field goes way beyond the way that players are presented in the book for typical use. It's not exclusively about adherence to mechanics, to be clear. There's a lot of things that the DM should be free to play around with without needing to stick to the mechanics as defined in the book.
      IMO, there is absolutely no problem with a DM hand-waving the Antimagic Field if they feel it would make for an interesting trap/puzzle design.(see above) It can be fun to play with that idea without feeling a need for a 'justification'. One of those few times to 'break the rules' for the sake of fun.
      It should be used carefully in other, unrelated situations because it shows the hand of the DM unnecessarily. It breaks immersion to have it be there solely to inhibit the players' options(railroading) or to have it be in a situation that it doesn't belong and has no purpose for.(sheer disregard for context/consistency)

      Let caster teleport to Exit, but switch Not disable the Walls unless 5 tiles were activated. so limits other not porting party members. or the landing spot is a pit trap or Monster just up the hallway that attacks soon as they land at the exit. OR a Tile when land on it at exit ports them Back to start. or They land at exit, but its a seeled with barrier as well and has a active silence spell going in it (Port now).

    I like this and add a Greed challenge an Item and Valuable on the other side of the room, if try to get it they use up too many Portals to get out or it triggers a trap or a Nasty beast.
