Hi Billy, The Thai Basil was the easiest and quickest Basil to grow and now self seeds all around the garden. I don’t even remember what happened with the Siam Queen.
I’d go with the Thai Basil just for ease of broth and also it fairly hardy as well.

@@StewartDorman I appreciate the quick reply. I will try the regular Thai basil. I live in the desert southwest of the USA and hope it will do well out here. If it does, maybe we’ll try to make homemade Pho. Thank you and stay safe!

Great video. Currently attempting to grow some Thai basil in Scotland, think it may need to live inside for a few months!

The easiest way to grow the stuff is to go to the Viet Namese restaurant and when they give it to you as a side garnishing to you order, take it home and put it in some water until they form roots. It's faster and free. I don't eat the stuff but did this for the fun of it and it was successful. I'm going to see if I can get it to survive fall and winter by bringing it in as a house plant and also experiment harvesting seeds from it. Nice vid. 👍
BTW, one Asain vegetable you might have fun growing is Ong Choy. I've seen a couple of Aussies post vids on growing some.

Thanks, Raymond, most of the Basil's seem to grow easy from cuttings. Since I've planted it I've got self-sown seedlings popping up everywhere, almost weed like. You might get it through winter. I'd be interested to see how you go.

Save seeds by separating seeds from spent flower heads with blender. Strain & blow chaff away.
Cover plant with small hole mesh bag to reduce cross polination & bug infestation. Basil is self pollinating so shake plant to help pollination. Pass the word!

you really didn't tell us any damn thing about growing them. i.e like keep them in a seed starter tray so it says humid, leave that tray in direct sunlight so it mimics a tropical climate. keep the soil damp but don't over water, use dynamite on them like for fuk sake mate. how about helping out a fellow bloke yh?

Excellent feedback, Will, and I agree with you.
I do find it difficult what to put in a video and leave out but I hope I can improve and I like the points you’ve made.
I’d probably leave out using dynamite 🧨 I find that rarely works.
