  • Golden A5 2 speed is the pet version of the 76. On 76's also keep the link and lever new. Clean out your motor every few months, if not me then watch my video's and do it yourself. It will have hair and carbon in the field that will make it get hot and to slow down. You can't just change brushes. Everyone says yes you can. Well it will be OK if you like a slow and over heating clipper.
    My name is Nick George with Clouds Diamond Sharpening. I sharpen hair clipper blades on a diamond sharpening wheel (grandpa made the wheels shape and figured out how to use the diamond process. that's so fine at 1500 diamond grit, that polishes your blade sharp. I fix any clippers that have parts available. I can sharpen any blade or scissor that can come apart. I sharpen convex scissors, semi convex scissors, chunkers scissors, thinning shears, fabric scissors, surgical scissors, and little scissor at a good price.

    I came to this video because I'd already snapped the snap ring several times and wanted to see if there was a trick to it. So I open the video, jump ahead until you get to that part. I'm listening to the video and still trying to get the snap ring out. Literally, and I'm using the word "literally" correctly here, literally 2 seconds after I snap my case I hear "You snap this ring, it'll bust your case wide open." If I'd only been slightly more patient. And I even bought what I thought was a decent pair of Irwin snap ring pliers. No worries, if the superglue doesn't hold I'll just get a new housing. Great video.

    Thanks for sharing your expertise and knowledge. I’ve just picked up a used 76 my personal hair clipper, partly because they are so serviceable - I dislike owning tools that end up being thrown away when they stop working. Most consumer-grade gear is unsupported, no parts available, no service manual or instructions, etc. You are a true resource to the global community in the care and repair of their tools of trade! Thanks.

    This guy knows exactly what he talking about There is a wealth of tips so watch carefully TWICE is good Centering the armature is just one as an engineer Iwork on many different machine but never a clipper this is designed for the Pro and yet covers the silly things that people do like grinding off the nip on the end cover Sheesh! Well done young man smooth and concise presentation. Very useful As I said to me most is obvious but some thing are not so obvious unless pointed out Thank you. One small thing which I suspect you may do but not in the video because of the possibility of "getting it wrong" is cleaning out the groves on the armature only for those with a steady hand and confidence one slip and you can ruin the part.

    Wow, great vid. When you tapped the case & I heard it speed up, that was cool. I just sent my Oster Star-Teq in to Oster. They couldn't fix it, even though it just seemed to be a short (wiggling the cord mattered)? They're replacing it with a Titan.

    • @cloudsdiamondsharpening3973

    Hi, my oster 76 which I bought factory refurbished, after 6 months gets a bad noise and vibration only when a blade is attached. It does not do this when I hold it upside down. It runs so smooth when no blade is attached. As a professional, this sound is not acceptable. Its definatly coming from the motor. I wonder if it's possible to fix?

    Hi from UK,
    Good video, simple to follow. I have a set of A5 clippers that after a couple months semi-heavy usage now struggle to work the blades. They have the power to slide the blade cutting edge when not cutting anything but no power there when you try to cut fur. When new I can not hold the drive tip due to the power from the motor but now I can almost hold the drive tip still with my thumb due to lack of power. Have I burned them out or could they be repaired ? Thank you

    • @cloudsdiamondsharpening3973
      @cloudsdiamondsharpening3973  7 лет назад +1

      Ian Black hello. I'm glad you liked the video. if you never had it serviced then that is the problem. motors collect carbon inside and causes friction and will slow the motor down. it could also be that everything needs to be oiled and lubed. Maybe brushes are low and not making connection correctly. I can't give you an answer without me diagnosing it. They can be repaired but I have no idea how much money it will cost. thanks for watching.

    Hello. Great and informative video. I have used Oster titan for myself for 3 years now, so i checked carbon brushes to see if they need replacement. I noticed that left carbon brush has been grinded twice as much as right one. Is that normal? Does that indicate that motor is not seated properly in the case?

      @@cloudsdiamondsharpening3973 thank you for your prompt response. But let me explain. I’m leaving for Qatar in 36 hours. There are no places to buy Oster brand gear lube in that time, I’ve searched. The Qatar mail and infrastructure where I’ll be is like living in the 8th century. However, I can access certain grease like Lucas red and tacky and other NLGI# 1, 2 or 3 grease lubes. In other words, Oster brand gear lube is out of the question for the next 18-24 months. So if you can think of an appropriate off brand lube for me and my trusty Oster 76 classic, which I’ve used faithfully for 6 years, I’d appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

      +Garcia Levere All animal clippers will work for barber blades. The difference will be the animal clipper will be faster so your blade will get hot faster. The hinge has a latch that will latch barber blades. Animal clippers have longer cords. Thats the only difference between a 76 and A5. Some of my customer barbers buy animal clippers bc the like the fast speed or the latching hinge. Its up to you really. Have a nice day.
