This creek is notorious for technical headhunting for picky fish. 20 inchers are the norm. Tight drifts under cut-banks is key
20” norm huh? I must have really missed the mark!
@@FLYALLSZN like you said quality, not quantity. That’s all I’m referring to
Another excellent adventure. Thanks for sharing it Mike. Shelby's f-bomb rant at about 36:20 was what fishing is all about! You win some and you lose some.
Amen to that! It happens to the best of us!
This is far and away my favorite channel!
Great job! Please keep ‘em coming! 🤟🏼✌🏼
Thank you so much! So happy you enjoy 🙏🏼
Good video. Your hook sets are always money. Showing Patience and enthusiasm with your fellow anglers is what this sport is all about.
Thank you Steven! I always love meeting fishy folk!
Nice Snake River cutties.
Myyyllllaannntttaaa… running into a couple of subscribers in the wilderness speaks volumes about you popularity within the fly fishing community. Nice video Mike
MYLANTA!!! Thank you so much Timothy! haha
Awesome video man! Been watching you since the driftless area videos. Your videos actually motivated me to learn to fly fish! I was actually In the Iowa driftless yesterday and it’s still awesome there. Take care!
What?! That is fantastic to hear!! So glad you picked up a fly rod!
Great video, one of my favorite areas…you’re living the life buddy. Keep ‘em coming and be safe!
Thank you Scott! I’m doing my best!
My dad lives up in Cody Wyoming! I know Yellowstone and the Tetons very well! Gorgeous fishing
I have heard great things about Cody!
Thanks Mike
Of course!!
Excellent. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
Of course! So glad you liked it!
Never seen someone get so excited for a whitefish 😂
Whitefish rock!
Great video Mike. Driftless in Two Weeks!!!!
Hell yeah! The fall colors should be in full force!
This creek is one that's in my dreams. Seriously...
I grew up kinda like you...but much earlier...through the 70s. I just turned 59 and I remember fishing Flat Creek and the Elk Reserve as a kid with my father. We hammered the cutties. I've been back several over the past few decades but I'm usually there before it opens for the season. I did get to try it one time late Summer/early Fall and I wore the Sombrero...the big skunk.
Reminiscing...
These rivers were ridiculous 50 years ago. You could walk across the Yellowstone inside the park on backs of 16 to 20 inch cutthroats. It's saddening to see the state of the fisherie as it stands today. It may still be "good", but its nowhere near what it was. The fish would be stacked up by the thousands behind the supports of Fishing Bridge. It was quite the sight.
Great videos! Look forward to every new adventure and especially when I get to use your videos for scouting and as a source of information for future trips.
Tight lines, young man!
Wow that really sounds like a dream! Hopefully the fish can get back to that caliber!
Love that stretch. Thanks for sharing.
It’s a lot of fun! You bet!
Mike
Nice vid. Enjoy your trips. Keep them coming
Jeff
Thank you so much Jeff!
Loved it!
Thank you!
You bet JD!
Love watching your adventures! I’m in mammoth lakes California for a month and can’t wait to hit up the rivers and lakes here! You are getting me all hyped to get out on the river! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Hell yeah Danny!!
mammoth is a great area! I you have a chance check out the walker river, beautiful country...oh and it has some nice fish in it!
Great video. Good vibe!
Thank you!!
Great Outing, thanks Mike for sharing, Until next time.
You bet Lee! So glad you liked it!
Nice man. I love the storytelling
Thank you!!
Another great video dude !
Thank you so much!!
Amphibians... That sounds familiar... 🥲
Frog A...... Not yet they ain't ready 😤
This is the prequel to the real show 👀
Nice video, that’s an area I’ve always wanted to fish more of.
There is a lot of great water out that way!
21:45. Haha, she has a morbid fear of lightning! My fault, last day of her fifth grade I almost got us both hit by a massive strike!
She was not having any of it!!
Enjoyed the video. I just was in that area amazing fishing
Thank you so much! It really is great out that way!
Flat creek right by the hatchery correct? I believe it is notorious for an average 18 inches and hard to catch.
Had a good laugh at this video. I was thinking that these two were rather pissed that you were catching all the good ones. That girl sure lost her cool losing that one fish. Had to rewind to verify what she said 😂😂😂😂😂
You were basically guiding them haha. They seemed like they hadn’t fished before
I wish I would have been on the Premier but I was elk hunting. Great video so cool
Thank you!! Hope you found some elk!
Again nice vid and thanks for the fly fishing fellowship and thanks for the hard work. If you get a chance would like to see some tiger trout as well if you happen to be near an area with them.
Thank you Calvin! I am so glad you enjoy the videos!
Awesome
I never what watched a 40 min. video but I watched this one all the way through. When the girl got a hookup at around minute 36 I literally clapped. Lol I am a dork but after visiting Montana and Utah this year, I think this just hit the spot. Thanks bro and keep up the good work.
Well I am so happy to hear you enjoyed this video enough to stick around! Thank you for the support!
fly fishing is just starting to get amazing with falls arrival
Fall is a great time to be out there!
Hi, great video! What is that golden stone pattern called? Is there a tying video for it?
those darn mangled bits
Nice vid! What’s the became of that first creek it looks amazing!
@28:36 Nice cast, my man!
Had to skip it up and under the tree haha
Your vids are dope bro
Thank you so much nick!
If you have the chance to go to the soca, I would if I were you
I've been there last year and going again this year 😇
I will add it to the list!
I love the neration. It made me think of Bruce Brown's old surfing movies from the 60s. Its not as much fun fishing with friends, using the same rig and you the only one catching. You must have been feeling the pressure a little. I think you hit it on the head when you mentioned keeping a bit more distance from the fish. I also think fly placement and line control played a part. Skunk or not, it still beats the couch!!!
Thank you so much Gavin! Couldnt agree more
nice work. wanna go there...but this time with my fly rod and not just my hiking boots.
You will not be disappointed!
the greater Yellowstone ecosystem is on fire with fishing right now
I bet it is!!
Haven’t seen anyone that excited to catch a whitefish before😂
Then you must catch too many trout! White fish are strong fighters and beautiful in their own right
@@FLYALLSZN yes whitefish are strong fighters but around hear they are kind of a trash fish but they taste pretty good
The KU hat definitely helped.
It brings the good mojo!
I could comment on this video for days, but I'll just say you showed 2 beginners how to do it and where to do it, seriously the patients you had was incredible, I have brought many beginners out and you did fantastic!
Might want to try the Gros Venture. above the lake.
Good to know Clark thank you!
Hey dude I just realized that your reel on the white rod is set up backwards and set up for left hand retrieve. I fish the same way, right handed with right hand retrieve. It’s super easy to switch it around on the reels with no drag, you just have to take the line and backing off and swap it around. When you reel in you should reel forward not backward. Someone probably f’ed it up for you when you bought it but most fly shops will fix it for free.
Nope! I like it that way. There is no "right" way to do anything in this silly game we play.
that cast net action
How else would we catch em..?
I have vacation coming up the second week of October...Do you have any suggestions for backpacking / hiking trails that combine fly fishing? I am in the Ozarks and willing to travel a bit of a distance...
October starts to get pretty cold no matter where you go.. maybe the smoky mountains?
Dope vid man! Hopefully we can fish together later this fall
Thank you so much Hunter!!
Buzzards RULE!
Do u have a video of ur ant tie or stone tie. They looked killer
Not yet! But I might have to make one!
If still in wyoming. Wiggins fork in the arabsoka range. You are welcome.
I was looking at the wiggins but never made it over that way!
Nice! Your videos should be seen by more viewers. May I repost your channel without changing anything on the clean platform named Gan Jing World? Thank you!
Well I'm sold.
Muy wife and I are moving to Victor this spring, I hope to hook up with you at some point.
Love that country
It’s amazing Tony! There is not end of great fishing
