@@adamrawlings5614how did you manage that? Unless you saw him play with Murder Inc. ? KJ were on hiatus at that particular time. Toured 1989, 1990, 1991 then 1994/5.
R.I.P Geordie you have provided the entire Soundtrack to my Life and you will never be Forgotten, not until the day my Heart Stops Beating. Listen my friends to a Genius and Weep because we will never See or Hear His Like again not in a Thousand Years. ❤
This man is criminally underrated. In terms of originality, I put him up with Eddie Van Halen, Hendrix, Dimebag, The Edge. NOBODY sounds like Geordie. Dude slays.
This is infectious. double-tracked guitar? He gets such an amazing wall of sound out of that ES 295. Goodbye Geordie and thanks for providing the soundtrack to my life for the last four decades….
You know, I can't stress enough how much this guy is an inspiration to me as a guitarist. I saw him with Killing Joke last year, and how he makes what he plays look so effortless really left an imprint on me. This demo is hypnotic to me. I don't really know how to describe it. I listen to this and everything I stress over just goes away and I feel like I'm floating. More so with my eyes closed. Hopefully I can inspire people like this guy. I'm just grateful he's around.
RIP Geordie. Introduced to KJ through my parents & their friends and carried it on as a gatherer. I was lucky enough to see the band twice over the years, first on the Hosannas tour (2006) & the Pylon tour (2015) when the band were on particularly potent form that night. I couldn't make their Manchester gig this year and now I will always regret it. Long Live The Joke.
Veil Kevin “Geordie” Walker - you blew my tiny teen mind when I first heard Killing Joke, & you will continue to short fuse it for the rest of my days. A truly original voice.
This is one of 12 demos Geordie Walker recorded in Prague in 2006 and collected together into a kind of solo demo album he was calling "Animal Pharm" at the time. These 12 songs were all put out on a "Geordie Walker" myspace page in 2007 without listing Geordie's working song titles, just numbers. Geordie's working title for this song, listed here as "Demo #1," was "LOVE KILLS."
I absolutely love this instrumental guitar jam. I been coming back here time and time again. Got to see Geordie and KJ in Atlantic City a few years back. So grateful. What a great fucking show. They opened for TOOL.
My favorite guitarist of all time. Killing Joke has been on of my favorite bands since the first album. Geordie plays with an zen like ice cool that is hard to describe. You have to wonder how is he getting all that sound out of that guitar. I've seen Killing Joke on every tour since '89 (Extremities tour). I agree with Kieran not everyone can get Killing Joke. You have to be a thinker and most music fans are sheep following the rocknroll herd.
wilfrid55 I was there, after Iggy, and then KJ,we didn't even stay for the Police, was blown away by KJ and have been ever since and was right at the front fence and in awe !
Geordie needs to be "Knighted" yesterday. Ben Kinsley and Ant Hopkins can't make this kinda beauty enter your ears and soul! This song is a cover of "The Lakes of Canada" by Innocence Mission. Ok...maybe not but chord progression is similar and Its simple and sad and well anyway, "I dub thee Sir Geordie Walker!"
Actually he tunes the whole guitar one tone down, so it goes DGCFAD, since the Fire Dances album... and it's all about the chords he plays, unusual chords played with that kind of sound (and a bit of chorus and delay too)...
These kinds of chords and similar seem often to get described as haunting, cold, discordant, and/or desolate, etc., and many who dislike them often like the so-called 'warm' stuff. But these kinds of chords feel most at home to me. I am not really haunted by them either. I would say they are maybe a little along the lines of stuff like The Cocteau Twins, Severed Heads or the Finnish band, Happoradio. Anyone like or heard of any of them? What do you think? Of course these kinds of chords appear everywhere and in every genre. Except country music. (But maybe not even then, depending on what kind... Maybe Killing Joke could do a country album next. lol)
Wish Geordie would ask the band to re-shape these with all the other instruments / arrangements incl Jaz's vocals and put it out as an album. They'd be back to their best no mistake
They finally made this into a released song, it's called "Big Buzz." I honestly prefer this demo, musically, to the completed song. The melodies played on the guitar here were scrapped, and I kept hoping they would pop up somewhere in it.
this really is mindbending, original and creative stuff. imo i think geordie's style was more in tune with the surf music styles of dick dale, duane eddy, etc in a crazy cyborg futuristic style on the reverbs, and i truly think that is what he was going for. something not done before. he succeeded and still does.
i know it's irrelevant but to my knowledge Geordie has always played the same guitar. Gibson ES 295. The same guitar Scotty Moore played on the early Elvis tracks. I think it's the best looking guitar ever made.
@GunslingerSCFC i think you misread me, i don't understimate geordie's style, in fact he's a major influence on my guitar playing and i've used similar effects he has. hell, Killing Joke and Ministry are the reasons why i chose music as a career! what i meant was that you don't need to be so super-extravagant with your riffs and solos when sometimes doing the easy and "simple" things can sound so much.
Yeah... its really a beauty. I wish i wish i had one. I have a gibson sg new model (2007), Its a beauty that too, i do have to admit id rather have a half accustic gibson, or epiphone even. Or, put up more green and get a Les Paul. (i havent got a proper amp yet its a VOX 40W. Of the new series.) If i wish enough, its gonna come. CIAO....
@ScrumptiousStrat yeah sure, your opinion = your right. ain't gonna argue with you on that. however, it would be interesting though if you could upload some videos where we can get to hear you play something, since your name implies you play the guitar as well....
@ScrumptiousStrat i'm not really into fenders so i wouldn't know about that. so you're a music critic you say - as in you write for a newspaper and do it for a living or you just delude yourself and call yourself that?
Goodbye Geordie. Thank you for all the amazing music. An absolute one of a kind.
RIP Geordie. Just heard the news and came straight to this vid. Only regret that I only saw him take the stage twice in my life.
Once for me. V-fest 2003 when KJ made their return with the 2003 self titled album. Geordie was and still is one of my all time guitarist heores!
Same here.. this demo hits me straight in the gut everytime I listen to it
So glad I got to see him play in 1992 when they were still peaking creatively
Pure io solo 2volte😢

From your very first releases right through to the RAH shows this year - the soundtrack to my life. Rest in Power Geordie, and thank you.
My favorite guitarist! Nobody else handles dirty noise like Geordie Walker - undoubtedly influential!
it's not dirty, it's magic
Possibly one of the greatest ever!!!
Beautiful. I could listen to this all day.
Thank the universe for Geordie walker!!!
a trick: you can watch movies at kaldrostream. I've been using it for watching lots of of movies during the lockdown.
@Jesse Stetson definitely, have been using KaldroStream for months myself :)
One of my guitar hero’s literally my introduction to whole worlds of music. RIP to the guitarist most responsible for Angels at war over air. 😢
It doesn't get any better than this.......Geordie is the zen master of guitar.
Rest in peace Geordie it sucks that I never got to see you guys live... Good journey to the great beyond sir 😔🙏🙏🙏✋✌️
Those soaring overtones and rhythmic playing literally mind expanding! Beautiful!!
Geordie has been one of my favourite guitarist since the beginning of the 80'es. No one plays like him. He has a unique style.
This demo was finally used! It's now "Big Buzz" on the new album, 'Pylon'.

Ruhe in Frieden Geordie dein Gitarrensound war besonders.
This is where it is at with that heavy guitar work, fierce masterful handle on everything, that mesmerizing noise hits your head.
Geordie Walker is probably my favourite Electric guitarist and sound in the hard rock / punk and "goth" genres I also Really like Daniel Ash [Bauhaus]
Keith Levene and John McGeoch should be in that list ! Have it corrected, NOW !
I absolutely love this instrumental guitar jam.
I been coming back here time and time again.

He is so subtle with his movement this video almost looks like a still photo. Anybody that has seen him play live knows what I mean.
YES!! First time I saw them in around 1991 I was completely tranfixed by that in particular.
Next thing I knew he had a hat on!😉

this demo has been taken off his myspace page, and i was missing it.

I agree. These kinds of sounds, the melancholy bassline, the repetitive driving drum and cold cutting guitar sounds give me a sense of well-being!
These are my very favourite types of chords as well.
