Though Metallica's take on "The Wait" can't hold a candle to the original, the royalties from that song - which has featured on three Metallica albums and can still be heard on their live playlists today - have kept KJ in business. Jaz said that the first royalties check (the first of many such checks) had "too many zeroes" - so many that Jaz worried there was something wrong with the check. Given that Metallica's albums sell millions of copies, those royalties probably generate more income for Killing Joke than the sales from their entire catalog combined. That, if nothing else, justifies the cover's existence.
Also, Metallica's versions made me aware of all those covered bands and artists and finally buy the original albums. I mostly stopped listening to Metallica, but still listen to the other bands.
@@mikereisswolff4662 Definitely. I've actually enjoyed Metallica's last three albums, but would never have heard of Diamond Head, Budgie, or Anti-Nowhere League if Metallica hadn't covered them.

KILLING JOKE stand ALONE. Metallica while paying tribute has helped enlighten countless music fans to their genius.🔥
Yeap, Brian Tatler and King Diamond have said they also enjoyed some Metallica checks.
Sorry but Killing Joke were well established before Metallica. They weren't poor or struggling by any means. They were touring this year and have always been gathering new fans. They didn't and weren't propped up by Metallica.
@@Idol2Idollet‘s be real though in that most people only know them because of Metallica.
The weight????
No 90's and 2000's stuff?
I do love all the KJ eras... these are just the ones that really inspired me most.
IS HE DEAD?
Good choices but you should probably listen more to some post-80s KJ
I have those records also... these were just the ones that really influenced my own playing... Truthfully, though... European Super State and Millennium were almost on there.
The post 80's albums have some of the best riffs, no doubt about that. However, I am mostly impressed by the first 3 albums.
Slipstream...
stop talking !!! show us those riffs !!!
I'm no Geordie! 😉
