That's so heartbreaking to see Remington Arms looking like that. My dad worked there till his retirement in 85.
The title is correct. This building is known as, and is called, the 'Remington Arms Factory'. Although, it has been vacant for many years and is not currently a working factory for the Remington Arms Corporation.
Always sad to see old neat buildings like that go, especially in that manner. Good video.

Sad to see another Connecticut manufacturing monument go down, my grandmother and all her sisters worked there in WWII, she was there when an explosion blew a whole wall out.

Yes it is soooooo sad 😢😢😢😢😢 I am a HUGE Fan of Remington Arms and own several. I use to work in gun sales and miss it BUT THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY NEAT to be a part in the manufacturing of these AND in such a monumental time in our history!!!!!!! Just WOW on so many levels!!!!!! I could sit and talk hours to them if they are or were still alive!!!!! Those generations are dying out and stories getting lost in the younger generations who don't know how important all of this was!!!!!!!!!!!

Seems like a great investment could be made by Fire Departments on drone photography. A great help in SIZE-UP for arriving units, and chief officers.
They're so used to doing things the way they do them.. kind of change-resistant from what I know anyway. You're right... maybe, I mean maybe there aren't many practical benefits and it just looks neat.

with this video you can see how useful a camera drone would be to a fire department for sure ate! ........ you could direct the water stream from trucks who could not see were there water was hitting! like with the ladder truck in this video!

Thanks John. This was shot with the old Phantom 1. Drones have come a long way since then in such short time.
Speaking of drones, maybe in the future when the drones are built bigger and heavier they can actually become involved in putting out fires by carrying and dragging water hoses to the upper limits of buildings. Just a thought.
I just watched several of your drone fire videos including this one and each one was excellent. FDNY began using drones at fires in last year. Another practice that's been in service for years is if a fire reaches 3 alarms or greater a FDNY battalion chief responds to NYPD aviation headquarters and then responds to the scene of the fire in a NYPD helicopter with an NYPD pilot. As the use of drones becomes advanced I wouldn't be surprised if the helicopter program is terminated because it's very expensive compared to the use of drones.

This was AWESOME on many levels First It would have given the first Chief to arrive a full view of where the fire was & was not. Second An after Fire Training Third News Footage no Helicopter would be able to get.

And if the ladder buckets had monitors for the drone camera they could see were the fire was, and have a bird's eye view beyond there visual capabilities!
To freeamericausa, you have a really good idea there. After all, the companies on the ground can't see that the middle building is fully involved on the upper two floors. This could cause dangerous roof collapses and floor burn-through. To FIREGROUNDIMAGES I am generally not for drones in dangerous situations, they messed up aircraft in the Cal. wildfires and also do so at airports with commercial flights, but in this case I'm all for it. Also, you have great control, everything is clear and not jerky.

I am also a 15 year veteran with this career department, so the members and command were well aware of my presence even though I responded to the scene off-duty. When filming departments that might not know who I am, I keep the craft well out of the scene unless they ask me to come in and offer up the drone's view. Wildfire operations are never an issue here on the East Coast...definitely something I don't have to worry about.
Holly Rockwell: Operating drones in places where aircraft are flying is unlawful and those doing so are total idiots subjecting themselves to big fines and loss of their drone.
and another part of Bridgeport's history starts to disappear. A touching shot at 6:40 shows the once imposing row of GE buildings is now a large, empty field at the top of the frame in the distance. That's what happens when jobs are shipped away and there's nothing to take their place.

Okay, lets get this straight. Contrary to the title, this wasn’t the actual current Remington Arms Factory? It’s an old building that was once used by Remington Arms, but not used by them for some time?
It is the building Remington moved out of about 10 years back when Conneticut passed a bunch of gun laws hostile to their business. Similar to what is happening in Maryland now.
Great aerial footage. This would be hard to get today with current drown regulations. I nearly got arrested for flying, at some distance, near a scrap yard in Brooklyn, NY.
Now with current drone regulations you just have to make sure you have your FAA Commercial Remote Pilot license, and have acquired the proper waivers if you need them for the airspace. Then you should be ok. Plus, I am a 20 year career member of this department.
@@FIREGROUNDIMAGES I'm part 107 cert, but I haven't applied for any waivers to operate in the area of emergency response. I know FAA has made it easier to apply for waivers--just haven't tried. Thanks for the info.

What a lovely few hours out of the office for those two firefighters in the nearest telescopic ladder. A nice ride up and a nice ride down. Were they supposed to do something as soon as the got to the top of the ride though ?

Who started this fire?? It’s easy to assume who did. Some public officials will try every means to get rid of guns and ammo. Tell me I’m wrong!
This building hadn't been operating for decades before this fire.
It's sad to see Bridgeport is fallen apart over the years and I really miss the old Bridgeport with crime rates used to be lower and houses are used but look at it now? Nothing bunch of historical abandons buildings are not taken care of, highest property tax in the nation, dirty sidewalks and streets. Bridgeport has lot of potential but we need a strong mayor who can really do this.
Dude the same can be said for my hometown of Niagara Falls, New York. A damn shame today.

Anthony Rogers The fire department are giving out free fire alarms. They came to my house installed the fire alarms. I'm very blessed to have those amazing people.

did someone light this fire? it was an a abandonded building for how long? Swatters maybe? We do not understand why an abandoned industrial building should go up in flames after soooo many months after it was abandoned...Doesent the city or sate tear down these buildings after being abandoned for soooooo many months?

Not sure, but it is usually caused by vagrants or scrappers.
Bankruptcy can cause fires years earlier.

+ICANanimations Yes, the very next day after my department watched this video, my battalion chief asked me to bring my drone to the scene to check for hot spots and flare ups.

So THAT was once the pride of American arms production? Some shabby ruins going up in flames, how sad! But cheer up: Rheinmetall in Duesseldorf / West Germany (or what is left of the old buildings) is facing a similar fate: the old blocks will be demolished soon for some more posh office buildings...Rheinmetall was once a leading manufacturer of artillery guns and cannons in Europe, together with companies like Oerlikon, Mauser or Krupp. Among others, the famous 7,5 cm Pak and the 8,8 cm Flak 38 were made by Rheinmetall...That is why Duesseldorf was heavily bombed by the British Bomber Command, as usual, only those parts of the city inhabited by the work force (e.g. Oberbilk) were flattended.

This building looks like it's been empty for some time. The fire was intentionally set for sure. The thing should have been taken down years ago.

Upper floor fire in an unused factory building. Lazy vagrants could not bother to put out their fire. That's what happened to Pullman National Monument in Chicago. My opinion only, if I'm wrong about this fire, sorry. It fits the profile.

Bridgeport is the worst city in the northeast and the poorest in Fairfield County. The mayor is worthless and has done nothing to bring the city in line with other surrounding cities. Bridgeport has the highest property tax in the nation while crime is high, streets are dirty and homes are dilapidated. Property tax on a two bedroom condo of 1100 sq ft in Bridgeport is at $5600. Utilities are high--averaging $435 during the winter month. There are nothing but old, abandoned factories from the good old time. As you could see, every single video on Bridgeport is about fire. What does that say? Corruption amongst its leaders is high. The value of the property is at its lowest. Most home are under water despite the ridiculously high tax. The city cannot generate revenue to pay for services and all those welfare people; as a result the burden fall on homeowners. I is just ridiculous! The city of Bridgeport seriously needs a strong mayor--not this laid back man who is currently running it. Please somebody come and rescue the city
Remington is not just a beat up old building.
This is a building that created history. If you were shot back then, it was either a Winchchester or a Remington.
This fire is a sad day for America & American history. This isn't just another building about some rant & rave. Before you get silly yes, I lived in Bridgeport.
