Estwatch, Wycome, Ostwick, Tantervale - More Free Marches for Dragon Age Lore

- There are more locations in the Free Marches we may visit in Dragon Age 4, thus it is important to understand their lore. These Dragon Age places are Tantervale, Ostwick, Estwatch, Wycome and Hercinia. One is among the three the largest of them all, some have Circle towers, one is the greatest importer of Antivan wine, and one is the landing point for many armadas.

Ansburg is my favourite Free Marcher city-state. Its description reminds me of my home state of Idaho.

If you play the human noble mage in DAI your Inquisitor Trevalyn went to the Osteick Circle.
There's a conversation tree with Josephine about your Trevalyn family that if your a mage will instead focus on your life in the Cricle at Ostwick.
It sounds like the city is very wealthy, as he mentions beingthe 7th or 8th wealthiest family, meaning the city itself is likely very rich.
Their Circle is apparently known for being lax, in the sense that their Circle is essentially more Magic Boarding School, his parents might even arrange regular visits.
He says the Templar are paid well, partly to stay out of the way. Many of the options about them describe them as neutral or even friendly.
That's cool. And a Trevelyan Inquisitir is also related to the Bard from the codex entries. 😁
I have no idea what we may see or hear about in the next game, but Estwatch sounds absolutely awesome and I want to see it! It's become one of the locations I want to see most in Thedas now.
You describing all these places makes me really want to explore this world even more.
I'd love it if in DA4 or DA5 we could visit all the places on the map of Thedas. Game would be massive, but it would be awesome.
@@DarthShadie If we were to get that, I'd rather it be a seperate project in the future. A complete open-world game wouldn't suit the story-driven, party-based playstyle the series is built upon (and what BioWare specialise in). For the main entires in the series, I'd still love the typical narrative-driven experiences with an emphasis on party-play.
But I would love a world-exploration focused DA game all the same, with a bigger focus on personal questing much like TES. Could be amazing.
Or, better yet, leave this world and live in Thedas. ;D

One thing about Wycome is that if you play as a Dalish, you have a Chore Table mission in which you could expose a Venatori plot to take over the city, poison the citizens with red lyrium, and wipe out your clan. If you play it right the Duke of the city is exposed and killed, and a city council is instituted among the nobles, a city elf, and your clan's leader. It would be nice to visit this in DA4 to see the affects of choices made, but non-Dalish won't have much to see in that case.
5:46 You mention Ostwick, but the top left title reads "Estwatch". The Ostwick Circle is where my Inquisitor is from. So I hope we get to visit the Circle at least. But I think if anything we might get to visit Estwatch or Llomerryn, though both might require a mode of high seas transportation.

I wouldn't mind high seas transportation :D Mind be interesting than just on-foot or on-mount travel. It would present something new. Then again, we fast travel to the Black Emporium, so perhaps it would be a mission that unlocks the area and we travel there, or if it's a specific mission, we only go there for that mission, like when we end up at the Winter Palace., we can't actually travel to the Winter Palace.

@@DarthShadie You're wycome. :) S- see what I did there? Yeah I think a ship could work as a home base. I think I might have heard Jackdaw as the first to suggest it. I think it would be a pretty unique feature, not just for Dragon Age but for any game really. I would still want a home base in Tevinter, but the ship could be a perfect way to change the scenery. So a different port will show off a different city and landscape. And you could arrive at different times of the day to change up those visuals as well.

Yes, I like that idea. Different missions at night as in the day, like in DA2, different encounters, different herbs to gather...
I'd LOVE a Dragon Age 2 remake where we visit other Free Marches cities. A lot can be said of this game but I always felt Kirkwall was my home and Hawke is my favorite protagonist. Ostwick is the most interesting city to me since 1) Ostwick Circle is mostly moderate/neutral and if Vivienne attended it for the first 20 years of her life, mages there are probably well versed in politics? An interesting outlook. 2) Inquisitor Trevelyan is from Ostwick. 3) If the ruler is a teyrn, Ostwick has probably a medieval atmosphere, just like Denerim.
I don't think the Free Marches are going to be in the DA4, even if I'd LOVE to. :(
@@vclentini If they are, I think Starkhaven will be visited, since there is concept art of it. Would be fun for there to be a Grand Tourney for us to attend or even participate in.

I don't think we will see much of the other Free Marcher cities after DA2
