Great instruction Rick, exactly what I was looking for. Can't waith to get on range and course and apply the principles. Love your simple, effective techniques. I'm in Australia, so glad I found you on RUclips. Thanks again.
I started using your pitching methods last year and saw an improvement that progressed the more I played. I have just revisited your lessons prior to playing this year. Weather and courses have been quite bad recently for any serious golf. Many thanks.
Old video and comment I know, but I just wanted to add you're 100% correct. A few years ago I didn't touch my irons, woods, or driver for 4 months. Just practiced short game only. Went out and shot a 74. My lowest round ever and only time I've broke 80.
I am in need of this practice. I just watched all of the How to videos on pitching 30-100 yds. It will be very helpful I'm sure when I hit the course this week.
This is amazing. It is a LOT to keep track of. I had no idea that you could hit it the same distance with the same 11-2 swing but with different ball flights. You break it down into its components. Thanks. Next practice session for me.
I have only been doing this technique for a few days but my contact has significantly improved. All I need is distance control sense my distances with all my clubs are constantly changing due to me growing. Great videos love the tips. Keep it coming.
Excellent series. Black and White explanation. Thank you so much for making this so easy to understand. Also... What is that massive structure behind you?
I've been using 7,8,9, with clock method, for lower flight, depends how far, and pin placement.......What you think......One of my passion for golf, is just going to the range, or go out by myself, and practice
Thanks Rick! This series of pitching from 100 yds and in has been extremely helpful. This is just what I have needed to improve this area of my game. Excellent simple, yet comprehensive instruction.
great little series, been playing only recently made my 54 handicap but I was struggling with consistent pitching costing me strokes, these have really helped and also boosted my confidence when I have to hit one of these shots out on the course.
rick you are an absolute ledgend in my eyes i started off listening to your iron vids i hit at least six out of ten better in less than two monthhs ive always been pretty good on the wedges but cant wait to try what you said on the pitching wedge trilogy
Thank you Rick. I feel so much more confident about my short game now that I feel that I have a strategy to employ to consistently hit targeted distances. Prior to this I would go primarily by feel which results in good days and horrific days. Hopefully this approach will allow me to become more standardized in my approaches inside of 100 yards. Thank you so much for putting this excellent trilogy together and sharing it with your viewers, brilliant!
Thanks for these videos Rick. I wish I lived nearer to Manchester so I could have a few lessons with you. I've been playing for about 4 months now and your videos are very helpful :)
I am going to work on this alot more on top of working/fixing my swing. Whenever I get new wedges, will go back to four total wedges because I hardly use my 5 wood anymore and my 3 wood is almost like a 4 wood (16 degree). Works great. Awesome, awesome work. I also like how your pitch swing really gets the hands out of it, ala stricker and Zach J. who are phenomenal with their wedge play
Another excellent video Rick great explanation I had been nearly doing the reverse especially on my low pitches with little success thanks and keep the trilogys coming
Great series of videos Rick! I took this to the course over the weekend. I didn't have a chance to practice these techniques before my round, but I did use them on a few shots throughout the day. I struck the ball well when I had short pitches, but my distance control was off. The balls were hit crisply and felt great coming off the club face. Once I get dialed in on the distance, my short game will improve dramatically!! Thanks for the videos!!
Great looking trilogy! Tried it out at range yesterday and it felt good! All seemed to make sense so happy to stick with this going forward! Short game not the best and want to find a repeatable stroke, this could be it!
Wouldn't it be easier to just change clubs to achieve the launch angle you need, and adjust swing length accordingly? Obviously less loft means more release on the green, but it seems that's a simpler way for hackers to memorize their carry distances.
Damn! Don't I wish I was 12 yrs old again and had this access to instruction and the access I had way back then to a place to play! Now, I live in Vietnam and am teaching 2 kids who have just started and are very keen. Only problem - where oh where can kids in Asia have decent access to golf practice facilities?? Ugh.
Height and angles are important, but spin numbers are just as important. I understand you're hitting range rocks, you play the low spinner for a reason.
Question - Why not skip out on the 3rd technique of increasing speed and loft. Seems disaster prone (unless you're really good). The 1st technique (medium height) tends to stop on the green right where it carries anyways. I'd think if you want a more vertical shot, you could just use a loftier wedge but do that same swing? --Thanks!
I don't get it either. Even as a pro, aren't you introducing a higher probability for error implementing more changes to a shot? Simply using distance control, (perfect pitch part 2) take out your 58 or 60, or 50 or pitch, and strike it normally at 11/1 10/2 etc. and you should have the required loft and distance. Is it all about the landing zone? I think i'm missing something.
@@kevincass5410 he said at the start of this video, he said some players have a club they feel more comfortable hitting. Which is why some would rather use the same club and adjust setup. Not for everyone it's just something to try.
Yeah, the second video shows how to vary your distance based on the length of your swing, not it's speed. Now you're swinging faster and that changes all the distance control. Then, setting up a different dynamic loft that you have to maintain through impact---seems way to complicated. It will lose it's favor as your favorite wedge with so many variables.
Hey Rick, I am approximately a bogey golfer, and just got myself a set of used Wilson Staff Ci9 Irons. After just a day of hitting them, I am having a hard time getting consistant contact compared to my old set. Do you think I will grow into these quickly with practice and a lesson or two, or feel that I should trade-down to a more forgiving iron set if they really arent hitting well.
They say in chipping if you want a low shot move ball to the back, high move ball to the front (vide0 by Phil mickelson), so I guess it’s different to pitching as Rick says don’t move the ball position , am I reading it right ?
what is that bridge to nowhere behind you? anyway---great vids! when i was in high school we had a lee trevino clinic. his method was very much the same. he was so good with any wedge in his hands
hi Rick top....I wonder what does the ball height for the roll. Also what would be the effects of any surface ie fair way, fore green, etc meaning grass heigth. Any special adress adjustments needed.
When you start pushing the hands forward tends to open the clubface and steepen the attack. What feel/method do you use to shallow the attack and present a square face?...like the video and for others asking it looks like a foresight launch monitor. $6g ish?
all my shots i hit from no matter what grass/dirt/sand are all moon shots, some of my 7 iron shots bounce off the moon it seems like, i feel i lose a bunch of distance doing so, but i tend to swing very quick.
Mr Sheils, these videos are great. They really help before I go out and practice - allows me to think about my game so much more. Keep up the great work :) #TeamRick
rick I'm in the verge off giving up this beautiful game because I'm so frustrated I can not stop my wedges ballooning up in the air and I am losing massive distance I've watched this video and practiced technique but to no avail
i have learned so much from your videos, i shot an 83 yesterday best round of my life!
tylerflip get low
What’re you shooting these days???
Great instruction Rick, exactly what I was looking for. Can't waith to get on range and course and apply the principles. Love your simple, effective techniques. I'm in Australia, so glad I found you on RUclips. Thanks again.

Rick for RUclips coach of the year!!!!!
I prefer crossfield with his club path/club face stuff. Really clear and useful.
I like mark too but connect with rick better
I enjoy watching both Rick and Pete
+Mike Reite
I 2nd that!! Great work Rick.
I really like the simplicity and clarity of your delivery, Rick. Excellent.
This is timeless. Thanks, Rick..
Thanks for the content, Rick! I'm a firm believer of practicing your short game lowers your handicap hugely!

Watching in 2020. A young Rick really giving an excellent set of lessons.
Thanks for taking the time Rick!! You are awesome man, God Bless.
I am in need of this practice. I just watched all of the How to videos on pitching 30-100 yds. It will be very helpful I'm sure when I hit the course this week.
Excellent technique for short game and beyond!!!! Definitely looking forward to using it on the course for lower scores....
Maybe do a updated video of this for the new views this is going to help me so much

This is best pitching video series in existence. Awesome.

Videos getting better and better, graphics are really subtle and useful, relaxed style and very informative! See you soon!
Wonderful video, great tips, many thanks Rick.....
Rick what a great lesson set you have posted!! Thanks again for the time, talent and expertise!!
I've been using 7,8,9, with clock method, for lower flight, depends how far, and pin placement.......What you think......One of my passion for golf, is just going to the range, or go out by myself, and practice
Yea that works cause that's less speed so it'll work for a low shot just not a lot of spin.
Thanks Rick! This series of pitching from 100 yds and in has been extremely helpful. This is just what I have needed to improve this area of my game. Excellent simple, yet comprehensive instruction.
Great lesson. I’m going to practice this today! Thank you.

Thanks again Rick....looks good...i will give it a try.
Rick I got so much valuable info from these videos. Great job and thanks for sharing
very helpful Rick ! the tip about keeping the elbows slightly tucked in is priceless.!!!
Thank you Rick. I feel so much more confident about my short game now that I feel that I have a strategy to employ to consistently hit targeted distances. great so important pitching liked the low pitch method very easy thanks
That was great Rick! Thank you!
Pitch perfect trilogy 👌🏻
Simple and clear, great series, thank you!
This is insanely helpful. Thank you.
Great Stuff. This guy really has a good technique
Another excellent video Rick great explanation I had been nearly doing the reverse especially on my low pitches with little success thanks and keep the trilogys coming
your video quality is very impressive and informative. thx for useful free lesson ^^
Really enjoying these videos. Looking forward to attempting these tips as soon as possible. Keep up the good work 👍👍
critical tutorial for my game right now. Thanks, Rick!
Very very good and needed lesson.. Appreciate all the vids
Excellent break down, very helpful. I’d Love your help with my game.

great tip about shaft and seed, thanks!
Thanks Rick can't wait to try this out.
Thanks for the video what is the measuring device
Most excellent training, thanks!
Beautifully swing and system!!! I'm going to work hard on this in 2018.
Hi Rick, Really enjoy your Golf Instruction videos. When you do your 100 yard pitch shots with a Sand Wedge, is the bounce coming into play ?
Great looking trilogy! Tried it out at range yesterday and it felt good! All seemed to make sense so happy to stick with this going forward! Short game not the best and want to find a repeatable stroke, this could be it!
can't wait to put this into practice. thanks, Rick!
Thanks Rick you explain this so well.

Rick Love these Videos! Does the grip pressure stay the same as with a normal Iron Shot? Thanks in advance.

if i get rained out this weekend im taking these lessons to the range, excited to map out my wedges
Great 3 video series pitch perfect 👌🏼
THANK YOU VERY MUCH RICK. I will be following your advise and report back. Las Vegas Duffer Joel
Height and angles are important, but spin numbers are just as important. I understand you're hitting range rocks, you play the low spinner for a reason.
Super good series and a great RUclips channel. thx for all the help you have dune for me. Can you do the same on chipping that would be super.
What device is that to measure distance and attacked angle?
what do you use for launch monitor?
I have really enjoyed your videos after a 3 to 4 year break
Thanks!

Rick, I carry a 50, 56, & 60.
I understand I should try all 3 clubs but if it were you, which one should be my go to, like your 54?
The 50?
They say in chipping if you want a low shot move ball to the back, high move ball to the front (vide0 by Phil mickelson), so I guess it’s different to pitching as Rick says don’t move the ball position , am I reading it right ?

randy underwood Lee Trevino is my spirit animal.
Great trilogy are you doing any more they work well in braking down the drills you present.
hi Rick top....I wonder what does the ball height for the roll.

Thanks Rick!
Great video helped me loads
Loving the short game videos Keep it up
Thanks Rick, great to see even more in depth ways to approach the pitching shot other than "......and this is how you create back spin"
When you start pushing the hands forward tends to open the clubface and steepen the attack. What feel/method do you use to shallow the attack and present a square face?...like the video and for others asking it looks like a foresight launch monitor. $6g ish?
Rick can you do one of these on accuracy left and right. Thanks
great tips,,,really helps to keep 6s off the card,,,,
I’m still bad at golf. But I love you
Question - what is that large angled structure in back of Rick when viewed straight on?
another great video! Thanks
What do you use to trace the golf ball?
Jolly good
all my shots i hit from no matter what grass/dirt/sand are all moon shots, some of my 7 iron shots bounce off the moon it seems like, i feel i lose a bunch of distance doing so, but i tend to swing very quick.
perfect video... thx
Information overload!
What launch monitor do you use
well, on the high loft shot, 79 yards is 33feet short of you planned 90 yard carry. That misses the green......right?
Wicked!!!
Where is your glove at? lol. Great video, taught me alot!
Good
Mr Sheils, these videos are great. They really help before I go out and practice - allows me to think about my game so much more.
