Although she is tall and strong so wasn't that starved, just enough to be made uncomfortable. I know of people who were literally starved and you get stunted growth and permanent organ damage from malnutrition.

In this episode there were a few times, where the music was too loud. Also the music suddenly stopped in the middle of a scene quite often. This is very uncommon.
Cheng Song and Wan Qiqi's relationship is so adorable 😍 he is the first person she noticed, look at his eyes soften when she calls out. then his little smile when she gives her own hairpins to his sister like yesssss not only is Qiqi already a kind friend to both Shaoshang and Yang Yang, but Song clearly appreciates someone spoiling Niao Niao. he cares about his sister a lot, and it seems that in his eyes Qiqi cannot do any wrong. i love that they end up together ❤️
I LOVE it when the writer gives us a strong, sassy girl who turns into a capable intelligent woman; Lusi is perfect for this character. I seriously doubt her nasty-hag of a Mother will be able to squash that defiance, in spite of being a bad-ass general herself. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree and even though their relationship is adversarial, they are similar in the "smart" department.

This is the case when the lack of education and straightforwardness are beneficial. Poor Fei. He reported about the fourth lady out of habit and was reprimanded because the general was trying to hide his feelings for her. But the investigation provides another opportunity to see your love without arousing suspicion. For the sake of business, he is ready to even pay a visit to the princess, whom he cannot stand. Seeing the 4th Lady Cheng is a nice bonus.

He's so used to women admiring him...it never once occurred to him that she's different. She isn't interested in him at all. He could've relayed the message to her third aunt...himself. He's using her as an excuse. I'm loving the general...and the slight smile he has whenever he sees Niao Niao. The stepmother from hell needs to back off. He made himself crystal clear that he didn't want anything to do with the princess...and yet she's still trying to force it. I wonder what the family is getting out of the deal if he marries that arrogant woman. Wow...talk about delusional...they really think the general was dumb enough to fall for her little trick. She even convinced herself that she could make him fall in love with her. Some people refuse to see what's right in front of their eyes...he was clear that he wanted nothing to do with her. I'm hoping he gives her a very harsh wake-up call because she needs it. Something I've started noticing more the fourth time I'm watching this is how often the two brothers Fei and Qi mention to Ling Buyi about the Fourth Lady, its like they keep an eye out especially for her already and every time they see her or know any tidbit about her they immediately relay it to Ling Buyi 😂
How were they able to keep straight faces in such a comedy! 😂😂. Big up to the production team and specifically the casting director who chose the best cast.
The production did a good job, showing comedic elements to this drama, but in truth, this is a seriously written story with such deep emotional impact for the period. The twists and turns of the storyline is made lighter by the funny scenes; but, it is heartbreaking to look at the reality of the lives the characters led at the time.
I especially love the two subordinates of General Ling. Fei is the innocent one and when he says something, it comes out funny. Qi is the clever one. These two are good together. 😅😅😅
Princess invited Buyi to lantern festival, he rejected but then went. Princess invited him to her birthday, he rejected first but then came. This could be a whole different drama if she wasn't evil in her mind 😂😂

Yuan Shanjian have Niao Niao an embroidered ball. in ancient China, apparently this symbolised him giving her his heart. she didn't know what it meant, she doesn't figure it out for a long time, and Yuan Shanjian is someone who definitely has an ego (rightfully so, as he is one of the smartest people of his generation). his ego was hurt and he was most certainly confused when she immediately returned the ball, this leading to their enemies-who-bicker-but-don't-really-hate-each-other relationship. idk why people call him a stalker here 🤔 it was common for guys to show their interest in a specific manner i.e. the embroidered ball, paying a call to Shaoshang's home, seeking her out to see her. yes, he went on to be jealous when she got engaged to Yao but he didn't go out of his way to sabotage her engagement. he just dealt with his jealousy by bickering even more with her. later on, when Ling Buyi left, they grew to become friends as he was the only familiar face she had in the palace and he was her connection to the outside world. i like Yuan Shen's character. he's like the best friend who insults you constantly but is always there for you no matter what and you can't imagine your life without them. he's not a stalker. does he get a hint that Shaoshang isn't into him? pretty much. does he remain single for her? yes, he does. does he ever pressure her into marrying him? eh, not really. he does tell her that he could make her happy, which yes, he could have, but he was just not her type. is he supposed to be an antagonist here? nope. he's definitely misguided at some points and has the emotional range of a teaspoon *ahem* therefore is sometimes tactless. but he's good. i love it whenever he's on screen 😂

Watching Third Aunt and Uncle have such a sweet and romantic moment was such a surprise, you don't see that often in historical dramas...usually the couples are bickering, abusive, or ignore each other, but you can tell that with those two its a real love match 🥰🥰🥰

In this episode there were a few times, where the music was too loud. Also the music suddenly stopped in the middle of a scene quite often. This is very uncommon.
Cheng Song and Wan Qiqi's relationship is so adorable 😍 he is the first person she noticed, look at his eyes soften when she calls out. then his little smile when she gives her own hairpins to his sister like yesssss not only is Qiqi already a kind friend to both Shaoshang and Yang Yang, but Song clearly appreciates someone spoiling Niao Niao. he cares about his sister a lot, and it seems that in his eyes Qiqi cannot do any wrong. i love that they end up together ❤️
It would be interesting to know their backstory as kids growing up in the military life.

I LOVE it when the writer gives us a strong, sassy girl who turns into a capable intelligent woman; Lusi is perfect for this character. I seriously doubt her nasty-hag of a Mother will be able to squash that defiance, in spite of being a bad-ass general herself. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree and even though their relationship is adversarial, they are similar in the "smart" department.

I really don't blame you for disliking the mother, but I live for the complex relationship they carry. I loved Lusi from the first drama I watched and I love her more and more with each one I see. She's growing as an actress. I love her facial expressions for both serious scenes and comedic ones. And her comedic timing is excellent!

Mr. Yuan is barking up the wrong tree. He's trying to impress her with his vast knowledge but she could care less. He's so used to women admiring him...it never once occurred to him that she's different. She isn't interested in him at all. He could've relayed the message to her third aunt...himself. He's using her as an excuse.
I'm loving the general...and the slight smile he has whenever he sees Niao Niao. The stepmother from hell needs to back off. He made himself crystal clear that he didn't want anything to do with the princess...and yet she's still trying to force it. I wonder what the family is getting out of the deal if he marries that arrogant woman.
Wow...talk about delusional...they really think the general was dumb enough to fall for her little trick. She even convinced herself that she could make him fall in love with her. Some people refuse to see what's right in front of their eyes...he was clear that he wanted nothing to do with her. I'm hoping he gives her a very harsh wake-up call because she needs it.
Finally another person that's willing to spoil Niao Niao....Qiqi has no boundaries just like Niao Niao...they should get along well. The way Niao Niao interrupted her aunt and uncle was hilarious. The production did a good job, showing comedic elements to this drama, but in truth, this is a seriously written story with such deep emotional impact for the period. The twists and turns of the storyline is made lighter by the funny scenes; but, it is heartbreaking to look at the reality of the lives the characters led at the time.

Oh well what do I know, I am not knowledgeable about the old Chinese culture and Hx so I respect their issues. But as a viewer from another country. Yuan Shanjian have Niao Niao an embroidered ball. in ancient China, apparently this symbolised him giving her his heart. she didn't know what it meant, she doesn't figure it out for a long time, and Yuan Shanjian is someone who definitely has an ego (rightfully so, as he is one of the smartest people of his generation). his ego was hurt and he was most certainly confused when she immediately returned the ball, this leading to their enemies-who-bicker-but-don't-really-hate-each-other relationship.
idk why people call him a stalker here 🤔 it was common for guys to show their interest in a specific manner i.e. the embroidered ball, paying a call to Shaoshang's home, seeking her out to see her. yes, he went on to be jealous when she got engaged to Yao but he didn't go out of his way to sabotage her engagement. he just dealt with his jealousy by bickering even more with her. later on, when Ling Buyi left, they grew to become friends as he was the only familiar face she had in the palace and he was her connection to the outside world.
i like Yuan Shen's character. he's like the best friend who insults you constantly but is always there for you no matter what and you can't imagine your life without them. he's not a stalker. does he get a hint that Shaoshang isn't into him? pretty much. does he remain single for her? yes, he does. does he ever pressure her into marrying him? eh, not really. he does tell her that he could make her happy, which yes, he could have, but he was just not her type. is he supposed to be an antagonist here? nope. he's definitely misguided at some points and has the emotional range of a teaspoon *ahem* therefore is sometimes tactless. but he's good. i love it whenever he's on screen 😂
