Great video!! I'm trying to apply CUHK this year as an international student. I heard that when writing a personal statement there is a fixed topic to write. But i can't find it from the website TT Is there any conditions that i have to follow when writing it??
Hi Abbie, This was such a nice video of introducing CUHK. May I ask you how is the studying environment at CUHK right now, according to what's happening in HK?
I have a question. I am attending CUHK as a freshman this incoming school year, and I’m debating what to bring for the ISO. During the ISO, can I do laundry for underwear, shirts, etc? I’m just worried that what I’m bringing won’t be enough, as I’m paranoid about not bringing enough. Awesome video, it’s going to be really helpful when moving in!
Hi Abbie, I am going to complete a year-long exchange in CUHK, I was just wondering do they take attendance for lectures and tutorials? And do u get to know your classmates before hand? Like is there a list of who will be in your class that u can get?
OMG, thank you so much for posting this! I am a 3rd year high school student in the US and I am hoping to attend CUHK once I start applications next school year! You may not see this, but do you have any advice/suggestions, as well as some info on how you got in? I'm stupid, so I feel like my SAT score won't be enough for me to qualify...(I understand the requirements are different in Canada). Thank you!
Hi there! sorry for the late reply- definitely saw it, but just forgot about it until now. Since I took IB, and my offer was purely contingent on how well I did for my exams, my experience might not be that applicable to you. Given that CUHK puts a certain focus on grades, it's important that your GPA and your AP scores are high enough so that you can get some credit. I don't think CUHK really prioritizes SAT score, but don't flake on that either lmao. Overall, make sure you clearly highlight why you're choosing your program and why CUHK fits the program of choice. lmk if you have more questions!
@@annaaa_poon Hi! I think the college will email you directly with the form after you received confirmation about your college assignment sometime during mid to late august.
@@@abbieafterhours no need to apologise, I'm the same as well (as I hope you can tell from me replying back to you after 6 months!) I'll be starting my 4th year of high school next week and have actually decided to put off CUHK until I transfer from community college or perhaps graduate school. I'll be sure to keep my options open, and thank you so much for your reply!
CUHK I guess. I am a local student from CityU. CUHK is generally better than CItyU for the locals. But it depends on your major and what identity you are(exchange or full-time). Sorry for my bad English, becoz i am engineering student.lol
hi! sorry sorry for the late reply- hopefully i'm not too late to give you my two cents. I don't know much about uni life in CityU so I may not be able to give a good comparison, but generally speaking, CUHK is ranked higher than CityU. However, rankings shouldn't be the sole factor in choosing your university. You should look at which uni is better for your major, and which uni offers more student support and job-hunting support. You should also think about what sort of university experience/environment you're looking for. CUHK campus is huge and very nature-y, whereas CityU's campus is smaller and conveniently located right next to a huuuge mall. You should also compare the post-grad opportunities and employment rates of both schools, and maybe think about research opportunities if you're interested? If you know people from CityU and CUHK, you should also talk to them to figure out which school you like best. There's no singular answer to this question- it all boils down to what you want. All the best!
Hey, I might do an exchange program for the sciences in HK. I do have family that live there and they might allow me to stay in their apartment. I think it is located in the New Territories (red water bridge literal Cantonese translation if that helps). Do you have any recs? Would you recommend your own university? Like you, I am from Canada and my home university is in Canada, the University of British Columbia.
Hey! The two universities that I would recommend for exchange are HKU or CUHK (and maybe CityU as well). HKU is closer to the central business district of Hong Kong, so you'll be close to a lot of really good food and tourist sites. CUHK is a good choice as well, but it's in the New Territories area, so it will take more of an effort to go to the tourist spots/central/hk island. But! CUHK campus is more nature-y and offers you a break from the hustle and bustle of HK. So it all boils down to what you want from your exchange experience. I'm not sure about the experiences of HKU exchange students, but CUHK exchange students have told me that they sometimes have a hard time getting to know locals and often just hang out with other exchange students instead. I don't think you'll have to base your choice on where your family lives in HK, because they will definitely provide accommodation for all exchange students.
(sorry for the late reply lol) hi! that's great that you're aiming for CUHK from canada. I took IB- which i know is a different system from Canada's high school exams- but i got 39/45 for IB
Compared to my friends who are studying in the UK/US, my tuition fee and accommodation fee is a loooooot cheaper than theirs, even as an international student. For reference, you can check CUHK Law Faculty's website for the JD tuition fee. The accommodation fee varies according to what residential college you choose, so you should also poke around every college's website and take a look. Hope this helps! x
@@abbieafterhours i have no idea yet! the college choices ought to be made on April, so I still have 2 months to think. I'm so confused! Your room looks so comfy so I was so curious! is it easy to get a spot in WYS?
Kassie Gracella if you’re a first year intl student with no home in hk, I think a spot in any college would be more or less guaranteed. compared to CWC, SHHo, CC, or MC, I think WYS is ok for getting a dorm spot, but you’ll still have to accumulate points to apply for a hostel space
Im in the process of applying for my semester abroad at CUHK and it would be great to connect with you and ask you a few questions! Please let me know if you would be willing to do so! PS it looks like you're having a great time!
Hi! Sorry for the late reply- I'm in the middle of finals season haha. I would be happy to answer your questions! You can just ask them here, or if you want to do it more privately, a lot of people have also dm-ed me on ig (i think if you search my name, it'll pop up)
So uni students in HK need to share their rooms with another student!? That's so bad. UK is much better than - we all have our own single rooms in dorms, and year 3 students have suites (living room + bedroom) , one suite each for 1 student.
yeahh... sharing rooms for uni is actually quite common outside of the UK, most places in Asia as well as the US have double (or triple, or even 6 person!) rooms. it's not that bad if you have a good roomie :)

Awesome video I'm studying abroad at CUHK for my sophomore year of college. I'm from NC, USA and go to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro
Were you able to study abroad ? How was your experience? Im also from uncg and im looking into CUHK
