    I’d love to see a video about applying to an ENP program. I’m an RN currently enrolled in an FNP program. However, never worked on ED or ICU.

    Ever since I found your channel I have been binge watching your videos. Thanks for sharing your experience. What NP specialty, in your opinion, has the best income potential in locum?

      Thanks for watching! Let me know if you have any video topic requests/questions! And probably the best income potential would be FNP- urgent care or emergency medicine. Thanks again for stopping by!

    Your videos are really helping me consider my options in life. I was a paramedic for 5 years in a busy urban area, went back to school for premedical and two weeks ago I was accepted to medical school. I thought I didnt get into medical school this cycle since it was so late. I was considering NP or PA as a backup option. I never even considered those options until recently and now I really want to become a NP. The thought of having no life for the next 8 years in med school when I could be done in about 3 years and have a much better quality of life is weighing on me. My goal is to stay in emergency medicine which I can do as an NP or DO. For myself it would be a 16 month accelerated BSN then 2 years for NP. I am just having a hard time making a decision on giving up my medical school seat. What would you say to someone like myself?

    Thinking and praying about this career transition, my only option though is to start as a registered nurse, work as an RN and study online to continue my education to become a NP

    Hi David, I know you mentioned scribes in the ER but do you, or have you ever, used dictation software to chart? Can you please make a video about charting specifically. Thanks!

    • @DavidWarrenNP
      @DavidWarrenNP  5 лет назад

      Hi! Yes, a few of the hospitals I have worked at have dragon or some other dictation system. I really prefer the dictation system, because I know exactly what is being typed. Whereas with a scribe, I have to review every single word, which is cumbersome. It also helps to work with the same scribe so we get to know each other. For the scribes that I know and trust really well, I skim the charts, but don’t necessarily review every single word.

    Since you work PRN what do you do for insurance? Do you pay that out of pocket?

    • @DavidWarrenNP
      @DavidWarrenNP  5 лет назад +3

      Yes. I go through the marketplace for health insurance. One of the downsides to being self employed. However, the income versus a regular employed job more than makes up for it.

    It is very difficult to get into the ED in my state. I am going to NP school next year and would like to work in a ED as a NP. Would it be difficult to get in to the ED as a NP with no ED experience?

    • @DavidWarrenNP
      @DavidWarrenNP  5 лет назад

      Hi! I would highly recommend experience in an ED. In my area (Texas), it is very difficult to get a ED job without prior experience or knowing someone in the ED.
