I honestly have no idea how I missed Manacled the first time around... I just finished the entire 77 chapter fic in three days. I am wrecked. Never looking at any of this the same ever again. Draco has always been special to me but now... oh my sweet Merlin. I love him more than ever. This was beyond anything else. This lives in my soul now.
hey. 300 phone pages left for me...preparing myself. happy to see "fresh" comment, it's easy to realise that somewhere there there is also a persons who just discovered this masterpiece
I just finish Manacled. One thing I can say is how sad I feel for postwar Hermione. After the Resistance was defeated she was broken, so broken. She's broken beyond repair. No matter how much I dread the ending, about how both Draco and Hermione's wound would never heal, I feel it is the best ending possible. It is realistic. I think no fighters, no soldiers of the war will ever get a happily ever after ending after the war. Post war happy ending is just a myth. Something those who didn't fight it would say to assure themselves and appease their guilt because they never fought. Those who fought in the frontline, nor those in the backstage. All of them will always have nightmares about the war. They'll all have PTSD. It is inevitable. And I think although it is totally unfair for Hermione to be remembered only as a footnote, this is somehow for the best. As she says over and over again. She didn't do all of those to be remembered as a selfless heroine. She also fell in love with ‘the worst possible’ man, High Reeve. No matter what, Draco will always be remembered as a war criminal. Just like how we remember Adolf Hitler. It is unfair for them, but war was never fair. Nobody is winning, they just lose. So I think, living together in that small island, till the old days, in peace and protection, is the best possible ending for them. Although from Aurore's recount we can see that Hermione's brain damage seems to be getting worse day by day. Hermione truly lost all her parts from the war era. Now she feels like a withering flower, much like Draco. They'll never heal. I can only hope that in the next life, they'll fell for each other as strongly as here in Manacled, in a much better circumstances and environment.
actually totally agree with you. Will also say that I literally lived and breathe every anxiety attack either hermione or draco went through in this. Which is kudos to the writer, I lived in that book while I read it. And when I finished in in 1 sitting, the first thing I did was cry in both relief and despair :D no lie.
Thanks for your comment. Such a realistic and pragmatic, logical explanation of the ending made me feeling a bit better ... Because i finished Manacled just today and was staying frustrated and depressed because of the unfair fate that ruled their lives... But now it is easier to accept the ending, though not less sadder( Thank u.

Me too ! I’m 17 but I finished Manacled today and I cannot get it off my mind. I feel like this book changed me and I’m letting go of a part of me that stayed with Hermione and her story 😭😭
I started and finished this book in 16 hours a few days ago. I was somewhat dead thanks to the sleep deprivation in the first place, but oh my god Manacled completely shattered my reality. I was actually sitting around, moping "They all died in the war. What was it all for. Hermione and Draco can't even go back to Britain and are only remembered as useless or villains. Where did happiness go and will I ever find it again."
That said, I'm very much looking forward to re-read it and wish I could just print it!

after reading isolation, i thought all the dramione fics would be the same... well i was completely wrong
Same, the Isolation left me speechless but it was just a romantic cute moment compared to the rollercoaster Manacled is. I would never imagine FF could be like this when i started to read them.
Immediately sobbed with the first song. I just finished this and don't know what to do with my life now.
I remember reading this when it first came out. Attached to get an update every Friday, I'd get up every morning and reading the new chapter and wait another week. The writer really put her heart and soul in this story.
I'm pretty sure everyone in the comment section has read Manacled but for those lucky few who have stumbled across this playlist without reading it, let me tell you, you will not waste your time if you decide to read it. It is beautiful, haunting, and unapologetic in leaning into the darker themes. Fun Fact: This was the first Dramione fan fiction I read. I was thrown into the deep end and never looked back. The Dramione fan fictions I read afterward were phenomenal. You should read Various Storms and Saints by viridianatnight
This was actualy my case. I just stumbled on this playlist and loved it so much. I was listening to it when I was writting and finally decided to read the fic (I finised it today). It was my first Dramione fic and also first fic from golden era ever. (I'm a Marauders fan) But it was so good! Like really good- the writting, the characterasation of Draco and Hermione, the descriprion of the impacts of the war, the story. I love how the author worked with the moral code. And the flashbacks! How the narative of a story can changed with a another perspective. I'm tempted to re-read in chronological order. And I just loved the ending. It was bitter-sweet as it supposed to be. If they got the clasic happily ever after I would be so dissapointed- but it was perfectly captured.
Sorry for rambeling, but I had to express my feeling somewhere :D Also thanks for the recomodation of another fic, but it's not avalible at ao3 at the moment. Do you have any other suggestions?
not saying there's not other amazing dramione fics but, just in my opinion, in must be tremendously hard finding another story that even reaches manacled's heels! this story is perfectly written. I would give anything to go back in time and have Manacled be the first dramione fanfic i read. it's just such an amazing experience all on its own.

Especially if u are having similar situations in your life it makes you feel even more sad because you know how broken you are but on the other side you are getting stronger but also meaner ,cunning, ambitious that you will destroy everything and everyone that are standing in your way
People who have struggled in their lives and went through a lot of pain and survived are dangerous because pain at some point becomes their friend .sometimes they can turn their emotions off they know how to hurt and leave you bleeding ...
It's impossible to fight in a war and come out of there without scars and wounds.....

Let's talk about Snape plot! Two Wizards Wars and then he have a empty dead. Painful, simple and perfect. He took his motivations along with him. Hermione and Draco had their stories told. snape's story has become irrelevant to anyone but him.
